I was told they were not needed. A few days later I get a call saying they need the frames! I live 25 miles away and am working when they're open. Needless to say, I had to take time off of work. Took time off for the appointment, now to bring frames and soon to pick up frames. It cost me a lot of money. They finally apologized after I made mention that they couldn't even apologize. If it was a mistake, then say you made a mistake! Don't keep making excuses and making me pay for it.

I had to do my own research and prod them into treatment. On the 1st visit my eyes were dilated with very strong drops normally reserved for extreme situations. My pupils remained dilated for 11 days (I thought I was going blind). I questioned staff to find out what had been used. They made a 'mistake' and now keep it in a locked cabinet. No acknowledgement or apology. When I described some of my experiences to 3 other ophthalmologists they were very concerned. I felt this was a cattle call...make as much money as you possibly can, no matter the outcome for the patients.

Two weeks ago I had surgery to correct this issue and was back for my follow up exam. Dr Marrow is very thorough and I am confident that I will be able to see clearly again. After my exam I was ready to head to Walmart for glasses because we all know they cost a lot more at the optometrists right? They convinced me to just look around and price out while I was there and see what I could get. Bree was a fun and knowledgeable shopping partner and we tried on numerous frames and talked about the pros and cons of each of them. She had me feeling like I was shopping with a close friend instead of an employee of the office. Finally I found a frame I really liked and we sat down to talk price. i was still planning on heading to Walmart because I was sure it would be higher than I was able to go, but I did have fun. I discovered that the entire pair, with better lenses and all of the coatings was actually LESS than what I had paid in June for my bottom of the line, get me through until after surgery, glasses at Walmart. Nearly $100 dollars cheaper. I am so excited about my purchase! Now the big downside about purchasing glasses at Dr Tavel's . At Lens Crafters or eyeglass World my glasses would have been ready by tomorrow. At Walmart it would take a week, but at Dr Tavels they said it will take an unbelievable 4 weeks. I almost backed out because of it. The only reason I didn't is I really do love the frames and the price was so good. I will update this if it takes even longer than that, and probably lower the star rating to reflect it.

After going to Macha Family Eye Care for many years, I have left this practice. Something has…read morehappened to this organization that is not acceptable. Long story short, it took me nearly 6 months to get my glasses due to many marking and remeasuring corrections to get my progressive lens located properly within my frame. After being sick and tired of becoming a permanent resident due to returning weekly complaining I can't see out of my glasses (of which cost $600 out of my own pocket) I gave up. I went to Heartland Vision and paid an additional ($430 out of pocket) to finally have my issue solved within 1 visit! Wow! My glasses came back in 3 days with Heartland! Each time Macha sent my glasses back for corrections it took 2 weeks ! What is more unsettling, is that with each visit to Macha there seemed to be MANY customers with the same problem I was having! Even more perplexing, while at Heartland, I overheard one of the assistance giving a patient chart to the Eye doctor saying, "This patient is returning to us after going to Dr. Macha". Happily, I can report that I am NOT nuts after all! It wasn't just me having issues with Macha! Don't go to Macha Family Eye Care. The people are nice; however, nice doesn't cut it when you are talking about your eye health. In addition, when being re-examined at Heartland, I was diagnosed with glaucoma and sent to a specialist for immediate treatment. How was this missed just 7 months earlier at Macha's? Go to HEARTLAND VISION! The people are nice and professional and Dr. Hittenger is a plethora of information and demonstrates an enthusiasm for his profession that exceeded my expectations!!
