The flap is more risky for that. The staff was awesome, and helpful. The only thing I wish they had improved upon was informing me how painful PRK is. For three days, it really hurt. No....REALLY. I'm still glad I got it done and please know that my experience is DIFFERENT from the typical lasik experience. I got a different kind of surgery.

I've never had to wear glasses except for reading, but I now need them at all times. The sales surgeons run a profitable business. I found care at a hospital with a real doctor, and am currently using my own blood plasma to treat my eye. He is extremely thorough. He takes time to explain the results and you can see it all on two huge monitors in his office. Be warned: they double book so this is not a quick in and out deal. But if you go first thing (7:45 a.m.) you'll be out by 9:00/9:15 a.m. He is personable, very professional and I feel confident that he has thoroughly examined my eyes. Opthalmologists are medical professionals - their scope is much broader and they are medically qualified, as opposed to optometrists. This gentleman is reputable.

She gave me a quote that was astonishingly high, and when she tried to press me book a date for the surgery, I said I needed to discuss this with my wife. At that point, all friendliness ended and she essentially said "Ok, then. Bye." As if the 2 hours I spent on a "free" consult was a waste of their time. Like I was scamming them or something. It led me to get another (cheaper) quote from Bochner. She should not be working there.

I am not about bashing businesses but feel a responsibility to write something here. I am…read morenearsighted and upon spending 2 hours here, I was told I am a candidate for RLE. Then the "sales" lady tried to sell me on paying $8k and pulled up a calendar to lock me in to a date in the near future. Reading further, nearsighted individuals with thin cornea are not good candidates for RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange) as there is a significant chance the retina can detatch. I am 52 and this surgery for me would have potentially negatively changed my life forever. And I have kids!!! 60 is the age this should be done- not sooner. I did go to a competitior who said they would never perform this on me and to wait until at least 60. This is a practice that has been around for a long time and used to perform this surgery and realized years ago there is too much of a risk and stopped. Something I found strange is when I asked the final "sales" consultant at Lasik MD if she knew anything about her competitors, she said no!? And further tried to sell me on the idea I could nik my eye with a contact lens. I am here to help people to not undergo a procedure that may be detrimental to their lives.
