After having cataracts removed…read morefrom my left eye in 2019 by another Practitioner in a Hospital, I decided to have the same surgery performed for my right eye at the Institute in the Fall of 2020. I found the procedure to be quite efficient/well-executed, the facility quite clean and well kept, and the staff fairly courteous and professional; considering that the surgery took place at the height of the Pandemic, I consider these virtues to be all the more admirable. I have since returned three times for annual checkups (following my post surgery follow up visit); the duration of my first checkup was 1 to 1 1/2 hours, my second checkup was 1 hour, and my third 1 hour and 45 minutes. There is a sign at the front desk on the 5th floor informing that checkups are 2 hours in duration; a possible reason for my first two checkups having been considerably shorter in length is due to Covid concerns, as I found the wait areas no more crowded during my third checkup than they were during my previous two visits. Again, I have received courteous and professional treatment at each one of my checkups. I have also received a 'clean bill of health' for my eyes at each of my checkups; 20/20 vision, no scar tissue nor glaucoma.

They ignored my family physician's referral for about a month, then, when I called them they said…read more"it is in the queue" and somebody will get back to me. After a couple of weeks somebody called and asked if I can come in Aug. 24 at ten AM - I said yes and they said I will get a phone call a week ahead. Indeed there was an automated reminder on Aug 17 2024 confirming my appointment. I went, as scheduled, on Aug 24 2024 and was told that I do not have an appointment that day and there was no appointment for me at all. The office manager worked on this with me for a few minutes and then told me that the person likely to have made the scheduling (that they never found) was not there and can I call her on Monday. I will never call and don't want to see that place again and will ask my primary care person not to refer me with these people ever again. I understand mistakes happen but what you do after that counts ... how you fix it ... they didn't care about fixing anything, didn't offer another appointment, they thought I'll call the person who likely screwed up. I am disappointed ... was mad about it but that went away ... they don't care, why should I care?

I will never return to this place and will now have to start the process all over again with someone else who hopefully sends me to a specialist that might actually see me instead of having the fellow misdiagnose me.

He is extremely thorough. He takes time to explain the results and you can see it all on two huge monitors in his office. Be warned: they double book so this is not a quick in and out deal. But if you go first thing (7:45 a.m.) you'll be out by 9:00/9:15 a.m. He is personable, very professional and I feel confident that he has thoroughly examined my eyes. Opthalmologists are medical professionals - their scope is much broader and they are medically qualified, as opposed to optometrists. This gentleman is reputable.

But someone from that eye clinic told us exactly three months 14 days before that you have an appointment on dated with that Doctor. But just one day before that nasty lady Rose told the patient "you do not have any appointment with us." But she vanished the referral from the system because someone told her to do that. That nasty lady did very confidently. And told us lie completely. Later from our general physician report history we knew all the details. From that eye clinic someone told them that we got your referral by fax. After eight days later someone told the patient that you have an appointment we got fax on dated and time.

I've never had to wear glasses except for reading, but I now need them at all times. The sales surgeons run a profitable business. I found care at a hospital with a real doctor, and am currently using my own blood plasma to treat my eye. I was SO impressed with this place…read more I was referred to this Institute by my Ophthalmologist. Long story short: these guys have thE best equipment, state of the art. Best experience ever for patient care, service and professionalism. Paid out of pocket for two extra tests but eyes are precious and worth it. Solid place. Dr. Berger is one in a million.

TRI has a horrible staff: rude, poor English, impatient, and careless…read more Her impatience and rudeness combined with very broken and poor English made interactions with her a truly horrible experience. I gave her the benefit of the doubt the first time; I was wrong, she has been consistently horrible so far. Description of the staff: Short ( around 1.55 m) black hair East Asian or Southeast Asian Canadian. Middle age( probably around 45 years old) She is usually working in room 203, doing eye screening. She is not a front desk staff. She is the dominant reason for my family to switch to a new institute: yeah, a really "outstanding" game-changer. The rest of the general staff are average or great.

From the consult all the way up to my procedure date two months later everything was explained to me thoroughly. I got to speak with the surgeon multiple times and they answered all my questions. They have really great refractive consultants that you correspond with and who are there to answer qs about pricing, dr note etc. The only reason I docked one star was because the wait times during the consult and my eye measurement day were very long. I had to wait an hour each time before seeing the surgeon.

At no point did I feel nervous because they carefully explained everything. The measuring devices they use are state of the art and beyond inaccuracy that is needed. I know this as a fact because I am a product designer and have helped develop medical devices in my career as an industrial designer. I for over 60 years I have suffered with extreme myopia and had I known about how effect refractive replacement lens were, I would have done this sooner. I have never had 20/20 vision before. The best I have had with glasses is 20/35 and even then it would fluctuate to 20/40. All the staff were cheery, professional and genuinely happy. I would recommend the Herzig Eye Institute to anyone who wants perfect vision whether or not you have cataracts or poor vision. Glasses and contact lenses cannot do this to the extent I have seen. The operation was painless and I never once used Tylenol or Advil.

I showed my letter but the person at the reception just rolled her eyes. No apology, just attitude. I asked for the contact info of the manager or supervisor. When I tried calling that number from my car the extension would just drop the call. I had to go back to ask for another contact or number. Instead I received more rude attitude. They were told upfront that I had disability and would want the Ohip surgery as I could not afford laser surgery. They still scheduled me for consultations with a laser surgeon even though they knew that. On the second visit when I told them that, they said oh I'm sorry I will speak to my colleague. However two weeks of my time has been wasted and I still don't have any surgery booked because now I have to start again with the surgeon who does it the old fashion way because our hospitals have not updated their procedures in over 30 years.

I have attended a CBT class for food cravings. I have seen the nurse, dietician; as well my doctor is now going to connect me with a one year program she is part of for my back. I find this is a really great practice to be part of because of the other resources they have available, if not at the clinic than at a participating hospital.
