Of all the places I went to, UELC was the most professional, transparent, up front with information, and caring. Genuinely caring. They did not chase me down with calls to sell me surgery. They let me take my time and were available to answer any questions I had. Rutmila was my ophthalmic tech. I had many check ups with her prior to the surgery to ensure my eyes were in the best health for surgery. She was very thorough and professional, but beyond that, she was incredibly kind, reassuring, and comforting. I always felt well looked after, and I look forward to my annual check ups with her now. Dr Eric Tam was my surgeon and he was fantastic. Efficient, fast, and talked to me the entire time to help me feel comfortable. I was definitely really nervous going in, but it was over in no time with minimal discomfort. The healing process was exactly as the team described to me and both Rutmila and another awesome tech, Franziska were available incase I had questions during recovery. If you're looking to do eye correction surgery, I definitely recommend UELC. You'd be in great hands!

During the pandemic, when retinal surgeons were hiding from the big bad corona while optometrists and dentists did their jobs, she advocated for me fiercely, and I obtained the necessary laser surgery to spare my retina from a full detachment. She is amazing and I owe her my sight. Recently I had the chance to bring my small 20-month old son in for his first eye exam. And she was terrific with him as well. Not to mention that when i had an emergency visit recently, her staff and a whole host of wonderful women entertained him whilst dada was having his eyes probed dilated and prodded. I can't fulll express how grateful I was for their kindness. I can only speak at one remove about the other doctors in the practice, but please visit and trust your eyesight to talented and generous doctors. Your eyes (and hearts) will thank you.

When I arrived, they took my insurance information do that they could file the claim for me (the last optometrist I went to didn't help with this). The optometrist (Dr Chan) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained what he did, why, explained to me what the results of the exam was and what my options were. Apparently, I should really be using reading glasses now but there are lens and contacts that can support reading too. I was a little surprised at the different possible options, because the last optometrist I went to did not mention a few of the options. He have me some contacts to try out and said to come back if/when I make a decision about what I wanted to get. The cost of the exam was pretty reasonable. As were the options for glasses/lens that he talked to me about and contacts as well. The office didn't try to talk me into getting anything afterwards, which I appreciated. I liked the options that were available to choose from... Actually, my wife came along and even though she went to another optometrist, she found glasses that she really liked here and so we'll be coming back to get glasses from here.

I asked for the cheapest lense and the sales told me it was $200. I was shocked. I'm not looking for anything fancy as I just need them for school (I can't see the board). The sales added, "we don't sell anything low quality here". The selection was also very poor. I was looking for a bigger frame and they had nothing like that. Nothing new and trendy. Worst of all, they had no AC. Today is around 30°C and all they have in the store are fans. I was sweating once I got into the store. This makes my experience even more unpleasant.

She specializes in the paediatric set and was recommended by our paediatrician. My daughter and I like her "bedside" manner. She explains everything. Her office assistants are also helpful and friendly. My one reservation is that the assistants, who also help choose the frames, sometimes do not pay attention to important details when fitting the glasses (they are great at choosing the style). This is particularly important for growing children. Once, they ordered a too small size, but I called the office before it was too late and we managed to get the right one. Another time (when I was not with my daughter), they sized her for a lovely deep frame (my daughter already needs progressives) but didn't realize that the frames actually sat on her cheeks when when placed properly on her nose. When you are paying $500+ for a pair of glasses, you want them to fit!!! If I were able to rate components of this business, I'd give Nikki 5 stars but the glasses sales 3 stars only.

I have been a contact lens wearer since 1985. I visited this clinic since it was close to home. I…read morewas charged an extra fee for a contact lens fitting, which my previous optometrist had never done. When I went for my fitting, the prescription was so bad that I thought I had put them in the wrong eyes ! I voiced my concerns to the doctor, who just seemed flustered, with no clue how to correct this issue. I was then given a succession of contact lenses to try during the fitting, NONE of which corrected my vision. I have astigmatism, which can be tricky to fit. In all my years of wearing contacts, and seeing various optometrists I never had this experience. Zero percent of the contact lens samples that were tried were correct. ZERO ! Yet other optometrists had always been able to fit lenses on the first try. Despite this I was sent home with these awful samples and told to try them out at home. If I couldn't see anything properly with them in the office, what magic was supposed to occur at home ? I need glasses or contact lenses to function 100% of my waking hours. The doctor quoted me a price for the LENSES (excluding the frames) for my everyday glasses ( $ 500.00) and told me they could give me a deal on the lenses for the second pair of glasses of glasses I would need to read with while wearing my contact lenses ($ 250.00 or something. I wear contact lenses so I don't need to wear glasses - sheesh). I was given my written prescription, but the doctor refused to give me my pupillary distance. I was then given a song and dance about how online optical dispensaries could not "possibly" give me the correct prescription. Meanwhile, due to my complex prescription, online optical dispensaries charge about $ 250.00 CAN for the lenses in my frames v.s. the $ 500.00 plus HST I was quoted. Yet the previous pair I ordered online were perfectly adequate until my prescription changed. Since prescription lenses are not covered under Ontario Health what is a person with a limited income supposed to do to see ? The exam and contact lens fitting cost about $ 250.00, including tax. Due to my experience with how inaccurate my contact lens fitting was, I feel the prescription I was given for my daily glasses is probably worthless, too, so I did not bother to have it filled. I have no choice but to pay again to see a different optometrist. I didn't go back for a second attempt at contact lens fitting. Avoid, unless you have loads of money and a very simple prescription that is easy to fit.
