Im so glad that I found this store, as it's the only store of it's kind in the area. I had a specific boot in mind called the Combs Black Leather boot, and thankfully they had my size in stock. I've had to special order boots in the past, and sometimes they don't arrive that quickly. I took the chance and just came here without calling first, and I lucked-out. The store waan't busy when I got there, and it was sctually right around 2pm. They also have some really awesome people working there, and the empllyee who helped me find my boots was on it! Every time I go to this location it's always good vibes. I love how quickly I am helped, how attentive the salesperson is when they help me, and how efficiently they give me exactly what I came for. I had another great experience today. My husband double parked outside so I could "run in and take a look". As soon as I walked in I was greeted. I was looking for a boot that I could wear in the summer. The sales associate recommended a soft leather boot. I tried on two ankle boots (one on each foot) and decided to go with the Sinclair. Amazing staff and inventory. I make a yearly pilgrimage to the Georgetown store to pick up a pair of limited edition CNY 1460s, Given the distance, I called ahead. Kelly took my call and helped confirmed available sizes. When I arrived, they gave me warm greeting and quickly brought out the pair I was looking for. They were friendly and very helpful with showing me ways to adjust the jungle zipper design of the boots. They made sure I was happy with with fit and selection. My wife and I had a wonderful experience on Black Friday at this store. We flew in from out of town that day and expected madness everywhere. The store was busy and they couldn't let everyone in at some point. Service was outstanding despite it being busy. A gentleman helped us but another woman was jumping in to answer questions and probably handling 6 people at once and doing it really well. I came into this store for a pair of insoles and laces. I needed the insoles to help make my shoes a little smaller and the laces to switch up the look of my shoes. The staff were so helpful! I was greeted right away and given so much attention. The man helping me was incredibly knowledgeable! He asked me which shoes I had in order to help me figure out how to care for them and their ability to withstand and or resist water. He was so attentive and was able to discern which boots and leather type I had based on the answers I gave to his questions. He explained how the insoles work and ways to break in the shoes. Additionally, he helped me pick some cute laces. I called back the next day after seeing my insoles were labeled "size 6" and I wanted to ensure that was intentional since I am a size 7, and the person who answered explained their sizing so well (and it was the right size since it was European). This is the only Doc Martens location in the area. It was my daughter's first pair of docs, so I wanted to go in person to make sure the fit was right (my daughter was not yet 2 at the time). The staff were really friendly without hovering. My daughter tried on a pair of classic black docs and of course looked absolutely adorable, and the staff seemed to agree. I was even convinced to buy a matching pair for myself so that we'd both have docs. Great location in the heart of Georgetown, I discovered it on the way to grab a bite to eat. I have seen plenty of people wearing them but had no desire to own a pair until I went in. The sales clerk was so friendly and explained everything about how the boot came to be made, from the injury of one we now have a shoe work across the world. Super busy on the weekends but so worth it if you're considering dr martens!! I got one girl with the cool pig tail braids who helped but she was helping three + people at the same tjme so Alex (girl with green tip hair helped). Alex was super awesome and definitely helped when in between two shoes. I know another review gave her a shitty rep but she was hospital and fast. If you were doing retail for a couple hours...from experience sometimes your emotions can get the better of you lol. Anyway, ended up buying some dr martens and I'm so happy. It was a grey and rainy day, and like a beacon of light from the heavens, there stood Dr. Martens with their doors open. I was treated like royalty as soon as I entered. The employees were more helpful and attentive than the Downton Abbey staff. I tried on several pairs of boots before deciding on two pairs to buy. The person helping me did it all with grace and a smile. The atmosphere in this place was all I could hope for in a store: Bauhaus on the stereo, boots arranged and cleverly organized, and comfy chairs to sit on while lacing up my boots. I don't know if you've ever owned Dr. Martens boots before, but I'm not exaggerating when I say they last a very long time. I have pairs from more than a decade ago that still have a lot of life left in them. Very happy they opened this store in Georgetown. I'll be back, I'm sure. read more

My husband and I stumbled in here with a sense of '90s nostalgia and not much else. The store had a lot of activity and was well staffed, I struck up a conversation about the boots I was wearing with Rachel, one of the staff managers. She whisked out the brand's leather restoring product and began polishing the shoes (of another brand) on my feet. The product made an immediate improvement rejuvenating my favorite boots (they're made for walking - and that's just what they do). The "wonder balsam" lives up to its name and I happily shelled out $10 for it. While this was going on my husband was reliving his youth browsing the shoes. He came upon work boots. Rachel got him a few sizes and within about 20 minutes, he found a good match with a pair of work ready boots that could also pass as daily wear. I may steal them for my job's annual '90s day, with a flannel of course. By listening to what we needed and knowing her products, Rachel made two sales on our visit. But more important to us, she solved two problems. It was an ideal retail experience and I'm happy our impulse to visit a brand we knew as mere kids turned into something completely positive and unexpected! read more

Employee was not friendly. I came in to make an exchange, after calling the night before and making sure it was worth my time. I drove an hour to get here and she told me the defect in my boots "just happens sometimes". Called her manager and proceeded to go into the other room to talk to her (unprofessional that she couldn't do it in front of me?). I have read other reviews about someone i believe to be the same employee. Two nose piercings and a short curly brown mullet haircut of some sort. She mumbled the entire time and told me that I needed to call customer support and didn't offer to help fix my problem. Came by on a whim for a little nostalgia, and walked out with a new pair of Chelsea boots. In my youth I had a few pairs of docs, both shoes and boots, and in my experience, the fit between models can be a bit hit or miss. Especially since they are 1. only sold in full sizes 2. have changed manufacturing from the UK, to in my case Vietnam, and 3. the toe box shape affects the fit. The sales woman that I worked with happily brought out in all about 7 pairs of boots in a couple sizes and a multitude of styles. I was most attracted to their more contemporary offerings that don't actually look much like docs of old, but their tapered toe boxes were a deal breaker for me as it squeezed my toes. I ended up trying the classic Chelsea boot on with the round toe and yellow stitching. It was nearly perfect, but the heel was slipping slightly. The sales woman dropped an insert into the boots, and it was perfect. Tossed the box and walked out with my new boots right there. Love them. I would recommend going to the store to fine tune the fit. Also, they have so many styles now, it doesn't hurt to see and feel them all. Such a good experience with the very patient and helpful staff. I'll probably be wearing these boots for the next decade if they wear anything like the old Made in England ones. read more

This store was beautiful yet the customer service was the worst I've ever received. I will never shop there ever again. The woman working was rude and disrespectful. I asked to try on a pair of shoes and she got them in the most disrespectful manner. As I received the shoes, they were not the right size for me and my feet didn't fit, and she proceeded to say "if you struggled that much they wouldn't work for you" with a nasty look. I love the dr Martin Brand but I will never be going back to this Georgetown location. I am very disappointed. Yesss! There's a Docs shop in DC!! I had little to no expectation of doing anything more than 'window' shopping, but honestly, the staff rocked and made my visit super fun. I tried on 3 different things; 2 shoes and a pair of purple classic boots. I loved them all, but ended up with the purple boots cuz well.. PURPLE. What more of a reason do I need?! It's okay. Good for laces and DM care. Lots of styles. DM has pretty much turned its back on it roots. When I got my first pair back in 1985, at atomic city, the punks on the steps outside showed me the proper way to ladder lace them. The employees here had no such knowledge. Not their fault really but just a symptom of the times. No one recalled the doctor Martens boots song from the young ones. Also, lots of the styles are not made in England and have had major problems with falling apart. read more

I usually don't leave many reviews but the experience that I had at this store with the lovely sales associate needs to be recognized. I live in southern Virginia and have been having really bad ankle pain (I rolled my ankle and I also overpronate) and I've tried so many different shoes to try to help with the pain and none had worked until I tried a pair of doc boots (1460 alt) two weeks ago. I knew that I needed to invest in some more so I can rotate which ones I wear so they don't wear out at quickly, but I have a very finicky and hard to fit foot with all of its problems as well as it being wide. The sales associate that helped me (Rachel Martini, she gave me her card for any other questions since I live a ways away that I can call her!) was so patient, informative, understanding, and extremely nice. I tried on probably 8 different styles to find which fit the best on me, and she even suggested going up in size for the width and adding one of their inserts and it fit PERFECTLY. I was in there for probably an hour and a half because I drove 2 1/2 hours there and wanted to make sure I was getting the right shoes for my ankle support and Rachel was there offering assistance the entire time! I ended up getting two pairs of Jadon max boots (one with spikes that had just come in that were STUNNING, and a pair of just normal black for work) a keychain, 2 inserts, and a set of yellow laces! Rachel was the most helpful sales associate I've had anywhere since I've been dealing with these foot issues, and this is coming from someone who is also in shoe sales so I know that it can be grueling sometimes when someone can't seem to make up their mind after hours of help but again she was so understanding and so helpful and even offered other options for when I come back later in the year for the newer collections! I will most definitely be bringing all of my business when buying docs to this particular location as long as Rachel is there! I will be back in a couple of months! read more

David greeted me as soon as I came in and helped me choose just the right pair of boots to buy. He even brought out styles he thought I might like when I was having trouble deciding. The employees were rude. My friend and I tried some shoes on and the experience was fine. However, shortly after we left, I noticed that I accidentally left my phone somewhere. We were already late to our concert and my head was scrambled so we ran back to Dr. Marten's and saw the young man that was at the door earlier sitting on his phone at one of the benches. They were closed at this point, but we could clearly see three staff members. The young man refused to approach the door or open it, at first thinking that we wanted to come in and browse I'm assuming... I mouthed and pointed to my friend's phone trying to tell them that I lost my phone and the lady behind the counter told him "no" and turned the lights off. Then, when she realized that we weren't looking to shop, they turned the lights back on and then the young man started talking to me with his mask on! Once I told him I couldn't understand him, he turned around twice and BARELY looked around the place at all for my phone, and said "I can't help you" and proceeded to go hide behind the counter when they turned the lights off again. They ignored us for 15 minutes and then LUCKILY someone called me from nearby and said that they found my phone. However, the stress was pointless and why was it such a big deal to open the door for us and communicate with words? All I wanted to do was look around because I needed my phone while alone with my friend in DC. read more

We drove into Georgetown to stop by the Dr. Marten store since it's the closest to our house. It was busy but when we walked in, we were initially greeted by friendly employees. However when we walked further into the store, we decided to try on some shoes & asked the nearest employee if she could grab us some in our sizes. My sister couldn't remember if they carried half sizes or not so she asked if they had a 6.5 & she sassily responded that they didn't have half sizes. Then she went back to get the shoes and completely forgot about us and another employee had to remind her. So she came over to us and asked "what did you need help with" so we asked again and she went back. Then she brought our shoes to the register and asked if we wanted to try both & I said yes, so she told me to go get the display shoe even though there was one in the box. She then only gave my sister one of the shoes from the box, and when my sister walked back to ask for the second one she didn't even look at her and just handed her the shoe, seeming annoyed. When she rang us up she barely Looked at us and didn't smile. The store was busy & it's right before the holidays so I don't expect everyone to be in the best mood, but Everyone else was nice in the store, except for this girl. Recently the bf and I spent 4 glorious days in Georgetown. It was our first visit there and M Street is an obsessive shopper's orgasmic dream!!!! We stumbled upon Dr. Martans and couldn't have been happier with our experience there. Being way back in the "house music days" Doc Martan wearers, we rushed right in! Jade and Kevin were fabulous, informative, funny and nice. They have lots of styles to choose from conservative to fun and funky! I got a pair of ankle height boots that were $80. I normally wear a 9 1/2, got a 9 and they fit perfectly. If I'm ever in Georgetown again, I'll definitely visit them again. My 13 year old son is in LOVE with my new boots and I'll be taking him to the NYC Soho store very soon to get a pair of his own. read more

This is one of my favorite places to visit on M Street when I am in DC. They have a great selection, with all the latest docs. The staff are all very helpful, patient, and attentive. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon, with my boyfriend. I am a major fan of Dr. Marten's and have been wearing them for about 20 years. I used to work a lot in Georgetown, so I am familiar with what type of traffic to expect, and was not surprised to see a bunch of people in the store. I kept thinking, yay! people really like this brand as much as I do! We were greeted when we walked in, and it was wonderful to see nice people working in the store. I kept looking around and in my mind, comparing the selection to what is online on both the USA site and the UK site (like I said, I'm a big fan). I have to admit, while they have a large selection, it isn't as much as I thought it would be. I know that they are in a small space, but there are certain styles that I think would sell better in that neighborhood, that were not on the shelf. The con: while the employees are nice, and I already knew my size and everything, they were not super knowledgeable about fits and wear and leather care. I was overhearing what two employees were saying to some customers, and it was not correct at all. I didn't chime in because that would have been rude, but the people in the store on that day were not typically Dr. Marten wearers which is most likely what skewed their advice towards clients. The employees were nice though! If I didn't already know what I know about this brand, my size, leather care, etc., then I most likely would not listen to their advice, or style. read more
