In the meantime, they instructed me to go to Urgent Care or the ER! Several other times, owing to minor issues such as ear infections and conjunctivitis, they insisted I do a Telehealth appointment or otherwise, go to Urgent Care or the ER. Further, annual physicals have not been comprehensive. Moreover, for my first physical with Barnard Medical, they assigned a medical student to conduct it, in its entirety (w/o any other doctors present). In addition, this was despite the fact that I had requested, in writing in my medical records, that I did not agree to be seen by medical students. It appears as if the doctors rarely even come into the office! The lovely Nurse Practitioner, Kristine, is the gem that seems to hold the office together! She shows both care and concern, and although there is a lag time to see her, too, at least you can get an appointment with her in person (eventually).

I was referred here by my doctor who had recently moved. I came in for a 10:45am appt, filled out…read morepaperwork and waited until 11:30am in the room to be seen by a Nurse Practitioner, not even Dr. Felicia Donald! The NP was wonderful and very sweet but if i made an appt with the doctor, i expect to be seen by the doctor. This appointment was mainly for reviewing test results and the NP took 5 minutes in reviewing the test results. Now, I received a bill for $123 ($215 was billed to insurance for code: 99204 OFFICE/OUTPATIENT VISIT, NEW The definition for this code: Office or other outpatient visit for the evaluation and management of a new patient, which requires these 3 key components: A comprehensive history; A comprehensive examination; Medical decision making of moderate complexity. Counseling and/or coordination of care with other providers or agencies are provided consistent with the nature of the problem(s) and the patient's and/or family's needs. Usually, the presenting problem(s) are of moderate to high severity. Physicians typically spend 45 minutes face-to-face with the patient and/or family. So mind you, I call the doctors office to ask why I am being charged for this amt when 1. i wasnt seen by the doctor 2. i wasn't examined 3. there was no 45 minutes face to face with patient/family 4. no medical history was covered, ONLY test results The lady who I spoke to who processes the bills asks me rudely: 'so how much do you think the nurse practitioners time is worth?' 'It seems you think its worth only $20 dollars' I was merely eluding to the fact that, I should be charged the copay off course but b/c I wasn't examined by the doctor or NP, and what they did was review the test results, I should not be charged the absorbant amt! They literally read to me what was on the paper I had faxed over. Needless to say, I will not be back and I will be disputing the claim with my insurance company.

Here we are in this crazy, COVID-laden world and all I hear are "get tested" and "get vaccinated"…read morepractically every day. We've been dealing with this for two years now and it's getting quite tiresome honestly. Nevertheless, when I finally made the conscious decision to get vaccinated, I was trying to figure out where to go and found out that my local health department gives out the vaccine and you can choose which one you want. I was able to register online for my appointment. When I got my first two shots, I went to the vaccine clinic that the health department was holding at Howard County Community College. I recently got my booster and this time, I went to the actual health department location on Stanford Blvd in Columbia. Each visit was pretty seamless. I checked in, they verified which vaccine I was getting and if it was my first, second, or third shot, and then I got in line to wait for the next available nurse to give me the vaccine. Afterwards, they have a waiting area and ask you to wait 15 minutes to make sure you don't have any bad reactions to the vaccine and then you're on your way. The Howard County Health Department also offers COVID testing and distributes at-home tests as well. I'm hoping to see an end to this frenzy soon but I'm thankful that HoCo Health Department has been very helpful through all of this.

Long lines but they are doing the best they can. With the holiday season it seems like everyone…read moreneeds to get a top cove and test for their travel plans. The testing lines seem to be long everywhere and here is no exception. On this Monday morning they were giving out 400 at home test kits and doing onsite testing from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. People started lining up at 6 AM for the at home test. Around 8 AM one of the employees came out and they passed out tickets to the first 200 people in line. This guarantee that each of them would receive two tests. Everyone else was sent home because there were no more tests available. But most of those people just walk and get into the line for the whole on site testing. There were a lot of walk-ups it only a few people who showed up with appointments. If you look online there were no appointments available. The weights were pretty long considering people waited over an hour before the doors even opened. Once they started the line move pretty quickly. Hopefully the situation improves and the testing locations will have the small backyards in the near future. Overall they are doing a pretty good job at the Howard county health department.

I've been to this location twice. On the first occasion, I was there for an annual screening, but…read morethe doctor announced upon her arrival to my room, that she was not qualified or permitted to do an annual screenings and the appointment should never have been scheduled. She did not give a reason for this. Upon arrival for my second appointment the receptionist disclosed that she chose to "now show" the appointment without even the courtesy of calling me to see if I was in route nearby or even in the lobby of the building (which I was). And because I had the courtesy of allowing the woman who arrived at the same moment, I did to enter the door first, I was denied my appointment. My conclusion is this location chooses to conduct its affairs in a manner which most businesses would not. I'll choose to take my business elsewhere as a result. Two strikes and you're out. Each of these issues demonstrate a symptom of serious management problems.
