I've been seeing Dr. Monfared for root canals for over a decade. She's truly the best endodontist in the area--very caring, experienced, and highly skilled. She explains everything in detail before any procedure and truly cares about her patient and the outcome. Kristine who handles the front office is kind and competent with scheduling, billing, and insurance. She always manages to squeeze me in to Dr. Monfared's schedule whenever I have an emergency. I recently cracked a molar and had throbbing pain, and she gave me an appointment the same day. Dr. Monfared went above and beyond trying to save the tooth with a root canal, but when she discovered a vertical crack she recommended I have it extracted. The dental technicians who work with her are also caring and efficient. They provide neck cushions, blankets, and calming classical music with a headset--I've almost dozed off before during a root canal! I had the best experience at this office. It was my first time by referral. I recommend this office, Dr. Colasanto did the procedure and l felt no pain and l am on my third day and still feeling good. Dr. Monfared also did a consultation for another problem and she was also tender and very good. All the staffs were very nice, kind and supportive as well. The best endo and perio practice in Northern Virginia. Just completed my one year check-up following a root canal on #31 molar. Molars are complicated, mine was cracked and I was concerned I may loose the tooth before beginning the procedure. However Dr. Monfared coordinated with my general dentist and saved the tooth. Christine handled all the back office work with insurance and billing with great professionalism. She has been with the practice for 15 years, including the covid times, which is an indicator of how well this team performs. Kristine at the front desk made scheduling easy and explained everything I needed to know around costs and insurance. Dr. Monfared clearly explained the procedure/process for a root canal and was very patient, answering all my questions. During the procedure, she was calming and explained what she was doing throughout. She checked in on me via text regularly between procedures and her office sat on hold with my pharmacy for a long time to make sure I got the medication I needed when the pharmacy was overwhelmed with COVID. I woke up in the middle of the night with a toothache, took some advil and saw my dentist first thing in the morning. He told me I needed a root canal and that since this was a difficult molar, I needed to see a specialist, he gave me a couple of names. Being nervous I asked some friends if they had a good recommendation and the name that kept coming up was Dr. Monfared. At first I was hesitant because when I checked with my dental insurance she was not in network but I had a bad dental experience in the past and I didn't want go somewhere just because my insurance company said I should. The place that I had gone for some previous dental treatment, I was seeing a new dentist every visit and there were no signs of the pervious dentist I had seen at my previous appointments. I decided to call Dr. Monfared's office and found out she has been practicing in the same location for many years and is the only endodontist in the practice. And it tuned out that I shouldn't have worried about being out of network because this office is so helpful and clear about fees and insurance coverage. So here was my experience: Since I was having some pain I was able to get in the same day and I was so grateful for that. Dr. Monfared is very caring and thorough and patiently explained the procedure and answered my questions. She was very gentle while examining me and eased my fears. She used a camera and showed my cracked tooth on a screen. She reviewed all my options and the cap that my dentist would need to do. Kristine, the super helpful receptionist called my insurance and was able to get an estimate of how much they would cover which was a decent amount. For the copay she gave me a zero interest payment plan which I really appreciated. The forms she gave me explained the fees and their policies very clearly and Kristine was also very thorough and patient in answering my questions. She did all the insurance paperwork for me and I didn't have to do anything! The kind assistant gave me dark shades, a blanket, a pillow and headphones so I could listen to music. I was very numb and did not feel anything during the procedure. I actually fell asleep!! Dr. Monfared reviewed the home instructions and I was given Advil before I left . I never had to take anything stronger than advil that night and had a great night's sleep. The next day she called to check on me and I told her I was doing great. I went in for a follow up the following week and since I was not in pain this time, I had a chance to notice and appreciate the calm and peaceful atmosphere in the office. The warm colors and classical music are very soothing. The staff is very nice and everyone speaks respectfully to each other. Dr. Monfared said she will see me for a routine follow up (no fee) in one year to check my healing. I appreciate that she cares so much. I took Metro this time and it was right across the street so that was very convenient. .....So I feel great about my decision to go to Dr. Monfared and I can see why she was so highly recommended. read more

This is definitely the best dentist I have ever met! Not only does she do great work, it is obvious she cares about her patients. Her staff is awesome and was able to help me navigate through all the confusion of my insurance company. I had to get a root canal a few weeks ago and her office made it a breeze. It was easy to make an appointment and go in right away, office was friendly and made the experience as pleasant as possible, which is not an easy thing to do. I was in and out of the office in no time at all. The Dr and her staff made this experience a great one. I just wanted to say this is one of best Endodontics I have been to. I was referred to her my Regular Dentist for a root canal. I was in so much pain. I CALLED THAT MORNING AT 9.OO AM and her Office schedule me In that afternoon at 2.00 pm. DR. MARYAM was so kind and Gentle. She made sure i was properly numb befor the procedure, Which took about 90 minutes. I had very little pain after the procedure . 2 MOTRIN every 6 hours for the next 2 days and I was back to normal. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Very Skill and good ENDODONTIST. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER. MUCH RESPECT DUE. read more

This was the most comfortable I have ever felt in a dentist's office. I needed a prescription for a high dose of antibiotic, Augmentin 875 mg to start taking prior to my root canal. Christine placed the order for 500 mg. With the higher dose I would need to take wice a day versus with the smaller dose I would need to take 3x/day, the latter would not work in my schedule and that was discussed with Dr Monfared. When I picked up the prescription,the instruction was for 3x/day. I called the doctor's office next day, spoke to Christine about the difference of frequency, she told me the pharmacy did not have the high dose, and I could stop by to pick up the prescription for the higher dose and go any place that I wanted to. Once I spoke to the pharmacy I was told the doctor's office can order the higher dose and they will have it by next day. This was after hours on Thursday and I could not reach the doctor's office until Monday since Friday they work half day and I missed the office hours. I called on Monday, spoke to Christine, provided the pharmacist name and relayed the message. When I got off work there was a voicemail from Christine stating that she called the pharmacy they didn't have the high dose and I could stop by the office pick up the prescription and go any place that I wanted for the desired dose. I was on the phone again with the same pharmacist who told me that the doctor's office hadn't called and as the matter of fact they had received the high dose today. Given the benefit of doubt, I told her maybe one of her techs talked to the office and told them they didn't have the medication. The pharmacist stated that all clinical questions go through her and she had not received any call regarding this medication. I was caught between the pharmacy and doctor's office. I called the doctor's office next day and I asked for the office manager and that's when I found out that Christine herself is the office manager! I confronted her over the phone that whatever she was telling me was contraindicating with the pharmacy and she was not truthful. Why was she telling me she called the pharmacy and they didn't have it? Whereas she had the pharmacist name and she could have asked for her to help her. Why was she so adamant about me having 500 mg versus 875? Why did she want to drag me to the office to pick up the prescription? The medication by now was already on the pharmacy shelf. She got offended, telling me that she did not appreciate the way I talked to her. And I told her I I'm 62 years old and did not appreciate the way that I was treated. The prescription was called in reluctantly. When I showed up for my appointment, I thought I should talk to Dr Monfared before she proceeded with the procedure. Christine had already presented our conversation to her. I don't know what she had told Dr Monfared. The physician was so protective of her. She's been working in this office for 15 years. Dr Monfared said she wanted me to be comfortable with all of them, therefore turned me down, not treated me and referred me to someone else. " it's hard to find people to work" she stated. Obviously, Christian, lacking honesty and integrity, must be quite embarrassed, tried to justify and cover up her actions and presented our phone conversation to reflect far negatively upon me. What a shame that she lied through her teeth, yet could manipulate her boss to get her way. But couldn't fool me! How unfortunate that the physician could not have a constructive conversation with her, and to be that intimidated in fears of losing an office staff to turn down a complex patient who showed up pre medicated starting the day before and was under her care for a month and a half. Dr. Monfared is as sweet and caring as she is highly skilled and professional at her job. With over 20 years of experience, I have never been so confident in a dentist as I am with her. Every visit is comforting and any and all procedures or concerns are thoroughly explained using x-rays and visual aids to show exactly what is the problem and how to treat it. The difference between Dr. Monfared and other dentists is that she truly cares about her patients and their well-being. There have been many times I've had to come in for an emergency visit and every time I was brought in without hassle and left with confidence that my prior pain or discomfort was perfectly taken care of. During the procedure, she makes sure you are comfortable at all times and her experience and skill makes the whole process as quick and as painless as possible. The staff is always accommodating and friendly and together with her partner Dr. Colosanto they make the perfect team. I have had the privilege of having both of them treat various fillings, root canals, and crowns over the years and I am honestly amazed at how good they are at what they do. Giving a endodontist a five star? YES! I had an absolutely wonderful experience from beginning to end - and that's saying a lot as I had been in extreme tooth pain!! Dr. Monfared came in on her day off so that I wouldn't have to wait for pain relief. She made sure I understood her recommendation for care, that I was comfortable with it, and then, it was the most painless and comfortable tooth experience that I have ever had! (and I had a root canal!) They had earphones, a pillow, sunglasses, maybe even a blanket? I don't remember but I do know that all my needs were taken care of...and then some. The office staff was cheerful, helpful and provided in depth description of the financial options available to me. Please contact me if you have any questions because I can not imagine going anywhere else. I have waited almost a year to write this review, but I write it now because I am still pissed at the visit which resulted in me having to pay more than $1000.00 over what is required for a procedure that my two dental insurance policies would have covered. Notwithstanding, Dr. Monfared provided exceptional quality with her work and my wife is extremely happy. However, the staff provided friendly, but deceiving customer service. I am still upset because the very friendly and accommodating receptionist asked if my wife had insurance. I provided her with the insurance information. She wrote the insurance information down, but she never stated that Dr. Monfared did not accept my wife's Metlife or Delta Dental insurance. They led us on until well after the procedure and then told us that they did not accept our insurance but would file the paperwork to our insurance provider, which they never did. When I filed, the insurance providers informed me that I would receive less than half of the amount requested because Dr. Monfared was not listed as a provider. If you want a great Oral Surgen / Endodontist, See Dr. Monfared, but go into her office with your eyes wide open regarding your insurance because they apparently do not see an ethical obligation to inform their patients. Finally, I take some of the blame for not investigating this dentist relative to my insurance and asking the dentist appropriate questions. I simply went there blindly from a referral provided by my regular dentist, which accepts my insurance. Notwithstanding, Dr. Monfared's staff should have been forthcoming as to whether or not the office accepts insurance. I am just saying, they apparently are not very ethical.
