He listens to his patients. Willing to treat the issue versus instantly going to surgery.

Very disappointing experience with Dr. Urband at Prestige Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. My…read moreinitial appointment lasted less than 10 minutes, yet my insurance was billed over $800. That alone felt excessive for the amount of time and care provided. What was even more frustrating is their policy that if you have pain in your arm, you are only allowed to discuss one joint per appointment. If you have issues with your shoulder, elbow, or wrist, they expect you to schedule separate visits for each. That is completely unreasonable and feels more like a way to generate more billing rather than actually help patients. The visit felt rushed and nothing meaningful was done to address my issue. Unfortunately, this experience gave the impression that the office is more focused on maximizing charges than on treating patients. I definitely would not recommend this office.

I am not writing this for you to hurt anybody-I am writing it for what these reviews are intended…read morefor-an honest review based on experience- my review is the third one star review of the four in the last year -zero chance that I would recommend this practice to anyone-in fact, quite the opposite, I would say please stay away from this practice at all costs-I do not have a complaint about just one thing, I have complaints about literally every experience that I have had with this company-after I first met with the doctor he recommended I get a series of three injections in both knees-I went for the first injection and I waited for quite a while and the doctor complained about some personal reason that he was running a little bit late-I mentioned to him at that point that I was in a little bit of a hurry so he said he would expedite the process spin my blood and would be about 15 minutes before he did the injection-I sat there for 45 minutes-when he came back, he said they normally only do one day, but he hoped he had enough blood for two (even though we talked about it at length prior to that)-supposedly he did have enough for two and did both knees-after I left there was zero follow up, so I called back a couple of months later and asked when I was supposed to have the next injections done based on the schedule that he had given me-whoever called me back on the phone said they didn't really know they'd have to talk to him-nobody called back so I called back again took me literally six calls to get ahold of anyone because they have an answering service- finally after getting ahold of somebody, they said, what do you want to do? I said that I want to continue with the course of treatment that the doctor recommended. They said they didn't know what that was and that they would have to talk to the doctor. No callback so I called them back again took me another week to get ahold of somebody. Somebody called back and said we have an appointment date for XYZ and we will put you on the schedule. A couple of weeks later I called back (it took me several days to hear back from them again) to confirm that time and they said they had nothing on the books for me. So the lady asked if I wanted to reschedule that of course I do. She didn't have anything for a few more weeks at that point and she said we can only schedule one knee at a time. I said that the doctor recommended both which is exactly what he did the first time. Her response was OK well, since we have already seen you, we can two do this one time. I reminded her that they did two the first time that I saw him. I called about 10 days before the appointment to confirm my appointment and again as usual it took me several attempts to get ahold of somebody. I showed up for my appointment 10 minutes early- the person the front desk said that I should've gotten a text to check in. I said I've never got one and she said I'll send it to you right now. I waited five minutes and never got one and told her she said oh let me put it on an iPad for you. I proceeded to go through the first page and then it froze. I gave it back to her. She said that she bypassed that section and I could continue so I continued filled it out and I hit finish and it glitched out, took me back to the beginning, so then they had to write each answer down by hand- then I proceeded to wait for about another half an hour in the lobby-after I went to the doctors office I waited about another 15 minutes-at this point it was well over an hour past my appointment time- I was about to walk out at that point, but then the doctor finally walked in-(keep in mind no one had taken with my blood at this point and even after they take the blood, it takes 15 minutes to a half an hour to spin it)- BRACE YOURSELF FOR THIS ONE: he said that they had run out of viles that they use so that they could not do the procedure today!!!!!!!!! and then he had the **** to say we can reschedule this for a few weeks out when we get more viles (I mean, how out of touch with reality are these guys?) I told him you have to be kidding me, I am never coming back here again. (I haven't even talked about other things that happened like them constantly insisting that they need to run it through Insurance even though I paid cash the first time and I was a cash patient and that's what the doctor had talked about and arranged originally, along with other complaints, but I think this review is already too long)- when I explained my concerns and my experience, the doctor had excuse after excuse-

This place is busier and busier. It feels more like Kaiser then sharp. I am always waiting longer…read morethan my appointment time, to see my practitioner. And last minute cancellations and no one is covering them. The ADA parking is out of code with the federal and state mandates. So if that is something you need, plan for extra time to find a reasonable parking spot, bring a driver or use a ride share. Parking is atrocious for anyone needing ADA parking. This used to be the premiere health care, or at least second. And they are consistently slipping from that. The level of customer service at the front desk, the amount of time the doctors actually spend with you, makes me wonder if they have switched to a for profit healthcare system. Not horrible. Better than healthcare say in Alabama. But. There is a lot of room for improvement.

I had such a great experience at the SHARP Rancho Bernardo lab thanks to the amazing team there!…read moreEthan at the reception desk greeted me with a big smile, made eye contact, and had the kind of warm, friendly demeanor that instantly put me at ease. It may seem like a small thing, but it made a big difference--especially since lab work isn't exactly my favorite thing to do! As a bonus, Sarah, who drew my blood, was also fantastic--professional, gentle, and quick. The whole process was smooth and efficient, and I was in and out in no time, which meant I could get right to work without delay. Big thanks to both Ethan and Sarah for making what could have been a stressful experience surprisingly pleasant!
