Let me first say that I had no idea there could be such disparities in quality when we're talking…read moreabout kids' braces. I had originally taken my kids to the place nearest us (we live in a town neighboring Arlington, a town where you would assume businesses are all fairly high quality), figuring braces were braces. I **had** previously had a new retainer made for myself at the nearby place and it **did** seem to be of poor quality - brittle, thin plastic that cracked just over 2 years in - but I wasn't sure if retainers had changed a lot over the decades or what. When my son finished treatment and received his (brittle) retainer I started poking around to see what had happened to retainers since the 90s and whether there were other options. I was told that amongst the clear plastic ones, there IS a quality difference; nicer ones are thicker and softer. I was also told that I could specifically request a "Hawley" retainer (the ones with a wire over the front of your teeth) at the local place, pay a little more, and it would last forever. This actually frustrated me because I had not been offered a Hawley retainer at the local place, and neither had my son. And when my brittle plastic retainer had cracked 2 years in, they made me redo my molds ($$$$$) even though I'd kept my molds and called them right away. Meanwhile my daughter did not feel confident about the treatment she was receiving at the local place; we were nearing the end of her braces; the next step was removal and retainer. She had reported concerns throughout the process and repeatedly asked me if she could get a 2nd opinion. Between this and the retainer situation, I decided I needed to at least see if there was anything better out there. From the very first contact, Arlington Orthodontics was amazing. The reception staff were friendly, warm, professional, and courteous. The office has plentiful parking in the back, which makes a difference when you're a busy parent making multiple trips, and the interior was bright, clean, and thoughtfully decorated for fall and Halloween. On assessing my daughter Dr. Lindgren stated that he would have her in a few more times to bring her bottom teeth more forward. He also said she had this whole other wire/chain thing over her teeth that was not necessary in her case and would have been trapping food. By the time I left the first visit I had determined to switch her care, even though I'd already paid in full at the local place, and to have new retainers made for myself and my son. After her first visit, my daughter reported Arlington Orthodontics was SO much better. She said the assistant was much more gentle and "actually explained" everything being done. Her braces also LOOKED so much better after that excess chain was removed. And as for my retainer, not only can I tell it's much higher quality and won't be prone to cracking, but it is also SO much easier to get on and off. IMO, anything you do or use every day is worth investing in; the stress of worrying that the other one would crack each time I took it in and out was not a great way to start and end each day. As if all that weren't reason enough, the assistant at Arlington Orthodontics told me that they THEY would keep my molds (not me, yay, I lose stuff) and that if **ever** my retainer broke or got lost, as long as I called within a reasonable time, they could have a new retainer made without making new molds. AMAZING!!!!!!!! Just being honest the local place almost seems like a racket in retrospect - give everyone poor quality retainers, don't even mention the Hawley option, and charge for new molds if it's been over 2 years, which is the life expectancy of those lower-end retainers. In summary, this place is everything you'd want in an orthodontic office: Friendly, professional staff, knowledgable, highly competent orthodontist and assistants, easy parking, and a well-lit, well-decorated space. Well worth the drive from neighboring towns and worth every extra penny we had to pay due to having already started treatment elsewhere.

I don't know where to begin to explain my wonderful experience with Dr. Melita. I searched for the…read moreperfect orthodontist for almost 5 years and I'm beyond happy that I found Dr. Melita right when I was about to give up. The reason for my hesitation was the multiple crowns (one being very visible) in my mouth along with the crowding issue I had. I am opposed to pulling healthy teeth out to make space without first trying to make it work with the existing space. Not even once did Dr. Melita try to change my mind about this nor even later during the treatment did she bring this up ever. She respected it wholeheartedly that I could feel it every time we would talk about next steps in making space to move the teeth around. Another reason why she is be the best Orthodontist to me is is that she worked with my crown so well that I never thought it would look this good to be honest. During the treatment, she allowed for me to go to my dentist to get a temporary crown to reflect the actual position of my teeth to make sure she gets them to the actual positions they need to be as close as possible. Not even once during the treatment have I felt rushed. It felt as if Dr. Melita was giving me the care that she would actually give to her own self. I don't know how I can actually convince anyone via words without knowing me to go and at least have a chat with Dr. Melita but I can tell you this much; I became a bride with braces as I was THAT happy and comfortable with them. I had the option to remove them for the wedding but didn't even bother. And it was Dr. Melita who offered to take them off so I could have my pictures without braces. I can't imagine a single orthodontist ever offering that. Little things matter along with the major PART of getting beautiful results. I took my braces off almost 3 months ago and still waiting to get my permanent crown put on. During this process I'm still in touch with Dr. Melita's office frequently and even after finishing the treatment you must see how much they still care for you to make sure you get on the schedule as soon as possible. I never laughed or smiled as genuinely as I do now and I can't thank enough to Dr. Melita and everyone in her office for making it happen. You make all the waiting worthwhile.

You can type in ANY name and it will auto-populate and you can get any person's information and see anyone who's been there. This is a massive HIPAA violation. THEN, the receptionist is horribly rude. She gave us attitude because we were there a little early and snapped "you're going to have to WAIT because you're EARLY!" Oh, would you rather us be late? Then they brought my kid back to "only take xrays" and ended up talking to them about all kinds of treatments that they wanted to do. Cosmetic braces, tooth pulls, functional braces, palate expander, headgear. We finally got brought in and the kid was terrified at everything that was thrown at them. The doctor and an assistant crowded in the room, telling us all of the things that MUST be done and NEED to be completed immediately! Snapped at us when we questioned the timeline. Then she SHOWED US ANOTHER PATIENT'S CHART AND XRAYS!!! The HIPAA violations at this place alone should be able to put it out of business. We were appalled and left shellshocked and full of anxiety and stress. I would never recommend this place to anyone, ESPECIALLY children. We went to someone else who was much less stressful and a lot kinder.

As part of my retainer cost, it is expected to have retainers checked on a regular basis. When I called to make an appointment I was told the doctor now charges $75 for a retainer check. That is unacceptable. Please be aware that this office is about up charging and taking advantage. Since dr Joy bought out this practice years ago from Dr D'Angelis, it has been nothing but charging for everything and increased costs. I would not recommend this orthodontist unless you want to be nickeled and dimed.

He contacted Cambridge Orthodontics and was seen by Dr. Samadani. Like a one reviewer posted, I was also concerned about the cost (college is expensive enough). I would trust Dr. Sadamani's professional opinion and advice and wholeheartedly recommend Cambridge Orthodontics to anyone looking for an orthodontist! I've had my permanent retainer for 4 years before one side of my wire came popped off, which impeded my eating. I couldn't go to my orthodontist because he is based in California, so I called around to multiple orthodontic offices in Somerville and Cambridge area. Cambridge Orthodontics was able to get me an appointment within 5 days of my call, compared to other places that offered appointment slots a month out from when I called. I appreciate that they understood the urgency of my situation and tried to get me in at the earliest time possible. The visit itself was nothing short of a pleasant experience! From the staff members who aided with different parts of my procedure to Dr. Samadani's consultation, everyone thoroughly explained to me what they were doing every step of the way. Dr. Samadani was especially thoughtful in explaining the different options I had for my permanent retainer. Frankly, my biggest fear was going to an orthodontist's office that I am not a regular at and be ripped off. I was on guard that they would tell me to replace my entire permanent retainer rather than repair just the broken part. Dr. Samadani was really honest about the state of my permanent retainer and I felt that she suggested the most practical option for me moving forward. I truly appreciated her honesty and integrity most about my experience with her.
