Dr. Schumacher put in a crown a couple years ago and everything was great. A few weeks ago, the crown popped off while I was flossing my teeth, and so I gave the office a call. He helped me out initially with a bad filling I had done by a Boston based dentist. He took the time to correct the work and listen to my concerns. I LOVE my Dentist and the whole office staff, they are amazing. I have an absolute irrational fear of the dentist, that goes way back. I have gone to MANY dentists that are "great with patients like me". But in all honesty I have never found a dentist that truly gets it and instead of humoring me he does everything he can to make me comfortable and not afraid. Dr. Schumacher and his entire staff are hands down some of the nicest people I have had the opportunity of meeting. They interact with you like you are apart of their family. Dr. Schumacher took the time to get to know me, ask me about my life, and would follow up with me about the things he asked at my next visit. His staff was always warm and made me feel right at home- at a dentist office! Aside from them being some of the nicest people I have ever met, the work they do is outstanding. I am from California and have relocated to Massachusetts for a short time, and I have had awful dental experiences in the past. Dr. Schumacher took the time to explain what he needed to do in order to best help me, while detailing why alternatives weren't the best options. He still gave me the choice in what procedures I wanted to have done, rather than choosing for me. I had a tough time on one of my fillings because he had to use something called a rubber-dam. His team is so wonderful that he personally called me the following day to see how I was holding up. Great hygienist, but Dr Schumacher, while pleasant, is super eager to take a drill to each and every speck on your X-rays. He recommended a ton of fillings plus scaling. After some sticker shock, I got a second opinion elsewhere and found 1/3 of them are unnecessary. She also suggested an alternative to the more painful and expensive scaling since my gums aren't that bad. Her plan will cost thousands less out of pocket and keep me within my insurance limits. I was tempted to give one star because of this, but the quality of his care seems to be pretty good. His bedside manner is pleasant. I think his patients will end up with great teeth in the end. He just didn't make any effort to help me prioritize procedures when I'm working with a $1,000/yr insurance limit. If he tells you that you need 10 fillings, I strongly suggest you get a second opinion. Their necessity is likely debatable. read more

The best dentist around town! I needed a lot of work on my teeth! Rob recommended Invisalign to straighten my teeth first for my up coming wedding, which helped move them tremendously fast! Next, we needed a new crown and a veneer on my two front teeth, after a lot of preparing, they turned out awesome! We were on a time crunch and Rob was very patient and explained everything in great detail what the next steps were. His timing was impeccable and you can tell he was very passionate about making my teeth look as natural as possible for my big day! I am lucky to have been referred to Dr Schumacher by my sister. I needed a crown redone that had been done poorly at a different office. My appt. was two hours long and the most relaxing dental experience I have ever had. Dr. Schumacher has the most calming manner about him. Also, he was so kind and respectful to his assistant throughout. Both of them worked in perfect harmony. Dr Schumacher explained everything he was doing while removing my crown and prepping my tooth properly. Every step of the way I knew what to expect. Did I mention how relaxing the visit was? He was so patient during the whole visit. I never felt he was frustrated, or rushed. He was attentive, professional and personable. His assistant was wonderful and also had a calming manner. A truly wonderful experience. My appt. was on a Saturday. I got a call Monday morning to see how my tooth was feeling. I have a temp crown, but honestly it feels like it belongs in my mouth. I have been with Dr. Schumacher since he opened his office in this area, over 5 years ago buying the practice of another dentist, who was very good. I was nervous about the change but there was no let down in the quality of care, it improved, no disrespect meant to the other dentist who was top notch. Having experienced a number of different dentists and hygienists over the past 55 years, there are a few things that sets his practice apart from others. He has one dental hygienist in his office who is by far the best I have ever gone to for cleanings. She worked there with the previous dentist. She is thorough but there is no pain unlike other hygienists who I have experienced over many years. The ones that bring tears to your eyes. I don't think I could ever go to another hygienist, ever. She is young, so she hopefully she will be their for many more years. When you find a good hygienist, stay with them. Dr. Schumacher uses the latest painless techniques. I have not had many fillings and teeth problems. However, when an old filling gave out he uses an isolation technique to keep the tooth completely clean and dry while he applies layers of the porcelain filling material, he works like a sculptor and he was not finished until it felt perfect. Another dentist I went to 10-15 years ago used a similar filling material but caked it on and I had to have it sanded down 3-4 times over the next few weeks, after suffering from headaches when the high point of the filling hit my other tooth. I have recommended Dr. Schumacher to others at my work and they agree that he provides excellent dental care. read more

The office was always able to accommodate my work schedule and the appointments were quick. I have been coming to this practice since I was a child, and the transition to Dr. Schumacher was seamless! I was struggling with teeth that had become misaligned after my wisdom teeth came in, and he recommended that I get a retainer instead of a more expensive procedure, which not only saved me money, it saved me time! There was also another instance where a I was having an issue with a filling, and he was able to get me in that afternoon to take a look at it. 2 weeks later he texted me to make sure I was doing okay! I have worked with Dr. Schumacher for about 10 years. During that time, I have had him do veneers for my front teeth that turned out beautifully and have had no issues since I got them. Recently, he spent 4 hours with me to make some temporary crowns I needed looked great. He was patient and friendly during that whole time. Plus his team (I worked with Caitlin) was great! I just had a filling this morning done by Dr. Schumacher. I've seen him a couple times now, and each time has been an absolute pleasure. I've had some previous experiences with dentists where I felt like they were trying to sell me something at every step and I couldn't tell what was necessary and what was not. Dr. Schumacher on my first visit said, "I would never recommend something for you that I wouldn't recommend for myself or my family."
