I'm surprised by the positive reviews and scratching my head. Here are the reasons that I would not recommend this orthodontist, after seeing him for awhile:
1) The hours are very limited compared to other orthodontist hours. You should compare before signing up. Specifically, the office is only open Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 5 pm. No early or late hours like other offices. There used to be one Saturday a month (and the reason I chose him), but no more. (The office is not open for normal business on Fridays, but there is one staff person a technician - there ONLY to fix your braces if loose or hurting you. ).
2) Dr. Lindgren only works two days - Mon and Tues. He has hired a very new and inexperienced Dr to cover Wed and Thur. Since everyone wants to see Dr. Lindgren, unless you have a very flexible schedule, you end up scheduling to see his new colleague. So... you end up paying a lot of money for Dr. Lindgren's experience and reputation, but never seeing him and using a new orthodontist without much experience.
3) Dr. Lindgren says that you can see him every 6 weeks between appointments, but in the end, his hours are so limited that you end up having to see him every 8-9 weeks minimum. ** If it's that way a lot, that translates into having your braces on longer, ultimately. **
4) The technicians do everything. Dr. Lindgren or his associate come by to confirm that they have good judgment, but it is very performative. Also, the doctors never check the technician's work. They technicians seem great, but braces are very expensive and I chose Dr. Lindgren based upon his experience, not his technicians.
5) Getting an appointment is even worse over any holidays. In winter, they take off a lot of time for Christmas (which would be fine except that the office is so limited to begin with that you end up having to wait longer periods between appointments). In summer, they reduce their hours because it's break. Again, that all translates into longer time wearing your braces.
6) His prices were more expensive than others. I chose him, but now regret that given his limited hours.
7) My cousin's son has great teeth, but she took him to several orthodontists for consultations (since she was taking an older daughter anyway). While others said that he didn't need braces, Dr. Lindgren thought he did. When I heard that, it made me less trusting of Dr. Lindgren's opinion.
Here are the positives of the office: 1) The parking lot is a plus; 2) The office is clean; 3) The staff are friendly and professional - not more than average, but I have never had a problem with them; 4) with one or two exceptions, the technicians seem experienced and competent; and 5) My teeth do look like they are getting better, so it's not that the office is incompetent - just very overpriced and providing limited services such as very limited hours or hands-on orthodontic work or attention.
At this point, I am going to finish my braces. It's almost impossible to switch orthodontists and not worth the hassle. However, I would not recommend this office. read more
