I was told I needed two appointments - 1 for a consultation and 1 for whitening. I asked how much time I needed between the 2 appointments and they said 2 weeks. When I showed up for my appointment, everyone at the front desk was really friendly and helpful. Then I went to my consultation and was told that I had to wait 3-4 weeks for the whitening and everyone on staff knew this so none of them would have told me this. In the end they agreed to work in the timeframe I was given over the phone, but they made me feel like I had done bad even though their front desk staff had actually done bad. When I left after my first appointment, they said that, because of the misunderstanding, they would give me the prescription sensitivity toothpaste at no charge. I said thanks, took it, and left (more on this later). The dentist was nice enough, but I felt like he was being a bit condescending about my wanting to get my teeth whitened before my wedding. I don't think I would want to go back and have him working on me. Of course, my experiences on the day of the whitening pretty much guaranteed that I will not be returning. The Day of Whitening came and the whitening staff were really nice. They checked on me a lot to make sure I was alright and did a great job explaining the procedure. When I went to check out, i was told I owed them $12 for taking the toothpaste on the previous visit and the woman behind the desk started acting weird and making comments about not having dental insurance, which I do. I told her they gave me the toothpaste because of the misunderstanding but if she wanted me to pay, I would. I'm still not sure what happened with regards to this, but it left a bad feeling in my mouth. I would have had no problem paying for the toothpaste had I been told initially that I would owe money for it, but when it was given to me, I was told it was to make up for the misunderstanding. I think there is a serious communication issue at this dental office and I'm not sure how I feel about the dentist. That being said, my teeth do look whiter and they gave me the option of refunding the Groupon if I decided I didn't want to go through with the whitening. So if you don't mind an organization with poor communication skills and a slightly condescending dentist, then this would not be a bad choice. There is a lot of parking and the offices are clean and pleasant. But if you get annoyed by conflicting stories and information and dentists that are a bit demeaning, then you should look elsewhere.

By this I mean they send me reminders and calls about upcoming appointments (this is simple but helpful), they give me progress reports on my dental care and check in about past problems or discussions and they deal with people well on a personal level. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE please please avoid. The staff and especially Dr. Eckert (I only saw the father…read morenot the son) were extremely unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable. I actually cried once I returned home. I came in looking for a consult on a single wisdom tooth that has been bothering me. Dr. Eckert came in and immediately started pushing for me to get all 4 out: that's not what I came in prepared to do, so I was trying to ask questions about why I would need all 4 out when only one was bothering me. One of his quips when I asked why I would need all 4 was "only 10% of people get to keep all 4 of their wisdom teeth"???? okay?? how many people have 1 out, 2 out, etc? I feel that if I'm signing up for a surgery I'm allowed to ask as many questions as I want, but at a certain point Dr. Eckert said "I'm sensing some hesitancy and honestly, I don't know why." Maybe for a dentist the procedure feels mundane, but again, I'm allowed to be hesitant! I'm allowed to ask questions! And I shouldn't be shamed or gaslight into thinking I'm being ridiculous for asking questions! Another thing I kept asking was if I could just do the 1 or maybe the bottoms, as I see no reason to take out the tops (they haven't even started growing in yet). Dr. Eckert just kept saying "I don't know why you would do just 1 right now, because then you'll have to come in 3 more times to get each one out" what a ridiculous comment to even come out of his mouth. Of course I don't want to come in 4 times to take each out 1-by-1. That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if I can tackle only the ones that look bothersome now, and reassess with the others later in life. They're my teeth, I'm allowed to decide which ones I want taken out!! Listen, I understand what his perspective is. He thinks all 4 will eventually start to bother me. Whether he's right about that is the subject of intense debate. The surgery is very invasive and having all 4 out will make the healing process more difficult, so I was hoping to avoid taking some out if they weren't bothering me right now. If 10 years from now they do start to bother me, great, fine. I'll take them out. There was no room for this perspective in that office, I'll tell you that! Finally, a note on the front desk and assistants, who were no better. There was a debate about whether to do full anesthesia or laughing gas. An assistant told me laughing gas wouldn't be covered by insurance. When I was checking out, I asked if I could please get a quote for both the full anesthesia cost and the laughing gas cost so that I could determine which one works better for my budget. They took SO MUCH offense to this request (even though it's literally my money and I'm allowed to ask how much the procedure will cost), and never gave me the second quote. When they finally got back to me about a cost it was for all 4 teeth (how many times did I tell them I didn't want all 4 out!!) and it was completely unspecified whether they had quoted me for full anesthesia or laughing gas. I definitely did not get 2 quotes. I cannot stress how entirely unprofessional my entire experience was. I sincerely hope dealing with the younger Mr. Eckert is a more pleasant experience. Please avoid this practice at all costs, they did not convey a respect for the patient like I would have expected, they just wanted to get as much money out of me as possible.

The son then proceeded to change the sedation treatment after I had already signed the forms and was hooked up to EKG and oxygen. I caught the switch before the operation went through and after Dr Eckert's son pushed back on me and I decided to walk out of their office. I've since been to another oral surgeon and that dentist said that only one wisdom tooth needed to come out and the other three had complications due to their proximity to facial nerves, that if damaged could cause facial paralysis. None of this information was given to me at my consultation with Dr. Eckert and I went in expecting all four teeth removed. What Dr. Eckert did was careless, unprofessional and unethical. I'm glad the procedure did not go through otherwise the son could have caused long term damage had he not had the experience to do the complicated procedure on the upper wisdom teeth.

I had just suffered through a week of hell from a different practice, where they botched the extraction of a tooth by failing to remove it completely, not inserting the bone graft properly (it came out), and leading to a hole in my sinus. Dr. Kramer did a full periodontal exam, including a CT scan, and showed me the damage done by the other practice. I was actually relieved because I had had such a horrible week of pain, lack of sleep, etc.. He then scheduled me for the soonest surgery possible, even though it meant him and his staff staying late. I'd never been super anxious about dental work before, but because of the recent trauma, I was incredibly anxious. I shouldn't have been. Dr. Kramer did the procedure without a hitch. I have had no postoperative complications in the two days since. Their professionalism is so appreciated. The fact that they're funny as well is a bonus. Great people!
