Firstly, the place is super modern, clean and a pleasant office to be in. Really helps when you're going in for dental procedures! For cleanings, I've had Aimee (the one that used to work in SF) and she's wonderful. Just like my great experience in SF, the cleaning is not stressful and actually quite delightful. She also shows the problem areas that I've had with plaque build up. For other dental operations, I've had Dr. Kwak. She is truly an amazing dentist and person. I had to get some cavities filled in between my back two teeth. I've got quite a bad gag reflex so you can imagine how bad it is to do anything back there. The procedure was quite a struggle for me, having to take breaks and triggering my gag reflex. Dr. Kwak was super calm the entire time and was not annoyed or frustrated at the situation. Her attention to detail for making the patient comfortable is super admirable. When numbing your teeth, she hides the needle out of your view - something small, but helps the patient not freak out. I had to come back for a refilling due to a gap. I was honestly terrified of the operation given what I experienced the first time. But she managed to complete the whole operation in less than 10 minutes and it was 10000x better than I anticipated. It's a bit inconvenient for me to come, but given my experiences here, I'd come back again and again. And possibly even look forward to it.

Had a great first visit, but after that things went downhill due to repeated administrative errors…read more I have dental anxiety (flagged in my chart), so unexpected changes and confusion are especially stressful. I scheduled fillings specifically around insurance coverage, but when I arrived I was booked for a completely different procedure that my dentist had never explained to me. I then received appointment reminders for visits I never scheduled, and when I called they admitted it was a mistake. I was also told I owed a balance that I had already paid in full (my insurance reimburses me after the fact), and the office could not clearly explain why the charge appeared or why they told me I had already paid. I was then told that they forgot to submit my claim to my insurance. My hygienists were great, but I don't recommend this office if you have anxiety or don't have time to constantly correct scheduling/billing issues yourself.

Front office was kind, my first hygienist was nice. My dentist and hygienist were changed on me without notice, and neither of them introduced themselves to me (I still don't know what the dentist looks like or what his name is). Further, the new hygienist used a tool during a routine cleaning that broke off a piece of my tooth. He asked if "that crack [has] always been there", to which I replied "no." Come to find that I require a crown. In my back and forth with the office over this, I find that the hygienist had written in his notes that I came in with the crack. His notes state that I said "I think one of my teeth broke", which is patently false. When confronted with this, the dentist refused to believe me or cover any part of the now required procedure. More than the confusion over the cause of the crack in my tooth, it really worried me that the dental notes written at this place don't align with reality: that's scary, as they aren't things I review at every routine cleaning. Icing on the cake: I asked for my dental records to move on to a new dentist, and they sent me the dental notes for a different patient, casually violating HIPAA. Go at your own risk.

This week, Karine provided excellent service cleaning my teeth--manually (since a dentist had found…read moreplaque building in some gum pockets), which takes longer than ultrasound, but she made no complaint about the additional time required. She also recommended for my teeth **waxed nylon floss** because it is tough enough to not shred on my dental work, and she gave me a sample to try out at home. Karine and Dr Han were wonderfully attentive to answering all my questions--even suggesting as a gift for my niece and nephew (who I fear will run into big problems with their teeth in years to come, if they don't practice better dental hygiene: one still in college already has suffered a root canal) the third edition of "Case Studies In Dental Hygiene" (3rd Edition) by Evelyn M. Thomson, which Dr Han mentioned is as interesting/riveting as a mystery novel, offering clues that the reader has to interpret/diagnose...or else it was suggested that I could give my niece and nephew electric toothbrushes. I was especially relieved to learn that some tooth roots I had worried about are still ok--no root canal needed--despite some sensitivity to temperature that apparently is due to gum recession. In fact, the Colgate toothpaste for Sensitive teeth that Karine suggested I try has been working great: I felt no sensitivity to cold at Sahara when my teeth were specifically checked for sensitivity in a recent visit--and Sahara Dental very kindly did not charge me for that consultation. I also had the pleasure of using Sahara's restroom to brush my teeth before my appointment--right after the restroom had been cleaned: I have never seen a restroom so sparklingly BRIGHT!! My expectations for restroom cleanliness may be spoiled for life now that Sahara has raised the bar so much! I was totally surprised and delighted by all Sahara Dental's wonderful services this whole past month. Thank you again, Sahara Dental staff!

Before my visit, I called to…read moreinquire about the cost of a filling, but the representative wouldn't provide a price, only stating that the dentist would assess my tooth first. I was also told that there's typically no charge if no work is done. During my appointment, Dr. Roy spent less than two minutes examining my tooth and immediately told me I needed both a filling and a crown, quoting me $4,000. When I asked if I could do just the filling and wait on the crown, they insisted both had to be done together--conveniently, the doctor was available to do it right away. I was surprised they didn't have any other patients waiting, which made me even more skeptical. I understand that they took X-rays, and I expected a charge for that. However, Dr. Roy never showed me my X-rays or discussed them with me in the treatment room, which I found unprofessional. When I checked out, I asked to see my X-ray, and instead of displaying it properly, the receptionist just handed me a printed picture of my tooth on a piece of paper, which felt careless and unprofessional. On top of that, when I checked in, they pushed me to get a cleaning first, making it feel like an upsell rather than genuine patient care. The final straw was the unexpected $235 charge just for the brief exam, which was never disclosed beforehand. Had I been informed, I wouldn't have proceeded. When I raised my concerns, the receptionist admitted that the call center wasn't properly trained but still made me pay. A business that fails to provide transparent pricing, pressures patients into expensive procedures, and then shifts the blame to internal miscommunication is not one I can trust. I won't be returning. Take my $235--I'll be spending my $4,000 at a dental clinic that values honesty and transparency.
