Excellent pastor tacos. Pretty sure home made tortillas, very fresh, meat was tender and flavorful and not greasy. Paired well with a green sauce. Great service. Truly a family style restaurant with real Mexican. Can get a Topo Chico prepared ! Was a slight language barrier for non Spanish speakers but did not detour from the service. Ok I've been going to this place for awhile now and the food has never disappointed. However the service definitely could use some improvement. The waitresses aren't exactly the most attentive. Numerous times I've had to go up to the counter and ask for a take-out box myself because the server was no where to be seen. I usually only see my server when she takes my order and brings my food. After that it's a wrap. Great spot no doubt but definitely needs work in terms of service. read more

My boyfriend and I are visiting from CA and found this gem. The chips and salsa they provide is very good. The salsa had a good quick to it. The pozole was delicious. I tried the enchiladas mexicanas Dona chela. They were very good it had potatoes and carrots on top which was something different than the regular enchiladas I'm used to. I am from San Antonio and it has been a struggle in Houston to find a good spot that serves up the food that I am used to. I love the Mexican food especially the restaurants that can give that homemade feeling with menudo or they make the tortillas from scratch etc. and that has been so hard to find. I was craving a big bowl of menudo or pozole and the last few places I have tried were just ok, not good or expensive making them not worth the hassle. I also like fideo especially sopa de fideo and that is also hard to find in Houston. I am so glad that I gave this place a try because I am happy with everything I got. I ordered smalls of the menudo, sopa de fideo and caldo de mariscos and each one was so flavorful especially the fideo and menudo. I wish I would have gotten larges because they were that good. The menudo has hominy in it which I love and most places don't have it so that made me happy. The broth was flavorful and the tripe was tender and melted in my mouth and just made the overall bowl quite enjoyable. The tortillas were also really good as they are homemade and fresh. I took my good togo but the staff was really nice and the place is clean and cozy. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu but I am happy that I now have a place to go get me a bowl of menudo when I crave it on Sunday's. read more

I ordered the "Huevos Combinados" or "Combination" plate with a mixture of carne guisada and barbacoa with tortillas de harina and 2 scrambled eggs paired with chips and salsa with a cup of fresh coffee to wash it down! This is a small place but well worth it. If you are in the area, it would be worth it. The tortillas are homemade. I am a flour type of guy but the corn are just that good. This is a great little place in the Magnolia area. Across the street from the church, it gives off a nostalgic, very comforting vibe. Takes me back to my elementary school days. The food is amazing! The homemade tortillas are perfect. The salsa is delicious! I've been here twice for breakfast and it hasn't disappointed. The service is fast and friendly. Absolutely detest this place. The only reason we even dine here is because it is probably the only Mexican restaurant around us open late enough to dine in, but the absence of patrons for most of our visits tells me all I need to know. I usually stick to basic dishes, as the more complex orders the waitress can't seem to wrap her mind around, as she constantly messes up our orders or forgets special requests we have asked for. Today, I ordered a hamburger with bacon, which the waitress referred to as "Monterrey," but having no desire for ham, asked her to leave it off. She asked me if I wanted avocado and I said yes. I made sure to repeat it, as she is always the one forgetful. Did I get my order as specified? A simple "no" isn't even suffice. At the restaurant, the bacon asked for on the side are large, thick pieces with a lot of fat. Did I get even that on my burger? I literally got a thin circle of mustard, an entire bag of lettuce (complete overkill, I mean who does that!) and NO bacon or avocado! I asked for it to be redone, and when I received it, it still had a small sliver of mustard and TWO FLIMSY PIECES OF BACON. I sent it back AGAIN! When I got it back the third time, the patty was like cardboard and even though I got bacon and avocado, the damage was done. It tasted disgusting. The person who I can only assume was the cook decided to show her face to get a coke, one can assume, but gave me stank eye the entire time. It is NOT my fault you can't cook and keep having food returned. Not to mention, the "menudo" was a chili powder gravy and even though we asked for no pigs feet, what did we get? You guessed it, a whopping foot of a pig dead in the middle of the bowl. My brother ordered shrimp quesadillas and I asked him to order one for me, as I had not finished my meal. The verdict: just as nasty! Shrimp were tough, dry, overcooked, and is a testament to the lack of skills of this "cook." How she can mess up a simple cheese and shrimp taco is beyond ridiculous. From the attitudes to the service, I highly recommend steering clear of this place and go to the Chelas on Broadway. I have had better GOOD food not made by a stank eyed woman and can at least send it back without having to egregiously demand it to be redone. read more

My favorite Mexican Restaurant by far. Sandra is my favorite waitress always attentive and courteous. Usually is never busy but I don't really go during lunch.
