I have my 3 adult children, my husband and many friends go see her. She is the BEST - and it is obvious she LOVES what she does - she loves her patients - and her bedside manner is incredible - she is warm, intelligent, friendly and makes you feel important and comfortable (even wearing a paper gown!) - and she listens to your concerns. In the past 3 years I have had 5 instances of skin cancer - 1 basal cell under my nose that looked like a tiny little pimple but required Mohs surgery AND reconstructive plastic surgery the following day; 3 squamous cell that required Mohs surgeries; and 1 invasive malignant melanoma that required an immediate wide local excision. NONE of them looked like what a typical cancer of that type would look like. But Emily Thai has an EAGLE EYE and she can spot a questionable area on your skin quickly. I go in with a list of concerns every time I see her (which is every 3 months now) - and we go over each one - and then she finds things on her own that I never even saw. She is extremely thorough - and I TRUST HER completely. We work as a team - and if I have any questions about a new spot that could pop up - I can call her office and get an appt if needed. She is very watchful over my skin - and we don't take any chances. in addition to the 5 skin cancers I have had - I have had MANY atypical moles and pre-cancerous spots removed as well. Because Emily is that good - and she is stopping these areas before they turn into more skin cancers. I am a fair skinned, light eyed, blond-haired Irish girl who grew up in Texas - and has OVER-loved the sun and abused tanning beds for way too many years. I wish my younger self knew the damage that my older self is dealing with now. Instead, she informed me I would only have 15 minutes to discuss one specific issue, which left me feeling frustrated and hesitant to seek care at this office. And she actually listens to the specifics and nuances of your problem rather than just giving you whatever is the standard treatment with no thought like Dr. Kazemi. The office is conveniently located and outfitted with all the tech. I came in to have a skin tag removed and was pleased that they were willing to do it on a new patient. The price is $100 for 1 skin tag and not too much more if you have more (I think $150 for 2-10?). In my case, insurance covered the cost, so I paid my usual specialist copay plus about $10 for the procedure. I was pleased that Dr. Anselmo also had time to take a look at my eczema after doing the skin tag removal. He recommended a type of cream I hadn't used before and was willing to advocate for me to get prescribed this cream even though it required some extra hoops to get insurance coverage. However, I later received an unexpected separate office visit charge in addition to the preventive exam billing. My concern was not the care itself, but the lack of transparency regarding billing. During the wellness visit, the provider briefly reviewed outside lab results I had brought with me, and I was later billed for a separate office visit associated with that discussion. I was not informed during the appointment that this could result in an additional charge. After reviewing my visit documentation, I also felt portions of the note did not fully reflect my understanding of the visit, particularly regarding the extent of evaluation performed beyond the wellness exam. After raising concerns and providing supporting documentation, the office acknowledged overlap between the preventive visit and additional billing and indicated the matter would be reviewed. However, I did not receive a final follow-up or resolution regarding the coding review or reimbursement request. I would encourage the practice to improve communication around preventive visit billing and provide more consistent follow-up during billing disputes.
