Came here due to experiencing severe healing loss in my left ear. My ear had closed and was driving me nuts and had issues with sleeping. I went to patient first as well as the emergency room and this place was the only place to give me relief. They had a same day appointment on a holiday and I was so grateful. The front desk attendants were helpful and very polite when assisting me for my appointment. As for Dr. Rhee, he was straight forward which some might not like but I preferred it. I explained in full detail of what I have done to troubleshoot my issue and where I have gone for help. He checked my ears and cleared them of any blockage. Don't waste your time coming to this Doctor. It seems all they want to do is make money off people and don't care much for your problems. I came in with an issue with my nose being broken and out of alignment and he said "Oh I have a friend who could do surgery for appearance both inside and out but it's going to cost you" It seem this doctor does not care about peoples issues. I had trouble breathing and had internal pain in my nose. I am going to reach out to my insurance today to verify the information this Doctor gave me was correct. He fixed my hearing when I suddenly lost some hearing and couldn't hear certain tones or frequencies in one ear. He answers your questions if you have any, but you can tell he is busy and his time is limited. I noticed he is booked pretty solid so you will need to call in advance. I wanted to balance out some of the negativity here. I went to Dr. Rhee for a 2nd opinion (since the 1st ENT - Dr. Lee at Reston ENT told me I just had to deal with the pain I was experiencing.). Dr. Rhee had a same day appt available (bonus!!), was very personable (we chatted for several minutes about my vacation), asked lots of questions about my issue, and listened (really listened, not just the MD head nod. Haha) to my concerns. He diagnosed me with something the 1st ENT didn't and I am hopeful my month long pain will finally subside. I'll update this if my mind changes at any point! :-) read more

I am regular patient. I see Dr. Rhee a couple times a year for ear issues, and have been doing so for several years. I love him and have zero complaints. I've almost always gotten same day appointments. In regards to other reviews about feeling rushed, I've never felt that way. He is fast, but thorough. He doesn't have a 'fluffy' personality, but he knows what he's doing. I referred my sister to him years ago, and she also sees him as needed and got her sleep study done there. Literally the WORST doctor please save yourself money and DO NOT come here. I went with my mom who is on Medicaid and unfortunately does not have many options to choose from. It literally took him three minutes to look at my moms ear. I was still filling out paperwork which of course he didn't even look at! He came in, didn't introduce himself, quickly asked why she was here and took a quick look at her ear. I am SO angry at the lack of attention, care or empathy. I'm pretty sure he said a total of 10 words or so. I cannot emphasize how angry I am. I've been to a lot of doctors and I know they get busy, but that's never an excuse to treat your patient the way this guy did. I was able to easily schedule an appt, in only a couple of days and fitting my schedule. During my appt. Dr. Rhee was cordial, thorough, and took the time to listen to my questions and concerns. He explained everything to me so that I understood it well. He was caring in his manner and his staff was also professional, friendly and efficient. Very unprofessional, please find yourself another ENT. He performed very brief physical examination (less than 5 seconds to look at both my ear canals) and did not even read medical forms that I filled out. He initially examined the wrong ear to make a diagnose, and I had to correct him. He also made demeaning comments about my concerns. I wish I could give ZERO or even negative star. read more

I went to see Dr. Rhee. exam took 30 seconds, he said "not too bad" and write a prescription. No explanation, no follow up information at all. It is really difficult to communicate with this doctor. He is just rushing to get the next patient inline. I do not like when dr. rushes and trusts you a client not a patient and tries to see as much as people to make more money. read more

I went to Dr Rhee last year for my swollen tonsils. Might have met the guy a total of 3 mins in 3 visits. Guy must be making a killing seeing 30 people every hour haha. He ended up just removing them at the Novant hospital. The surgery went well and just gave me meds for the pain. After a year removed from the surgery I get a call from a collections company asking for $25... I figured I gave them all my contact information on my first appointment so if they really needed me, all they had to do is call. Pretty sure I also gave them my email address. Either way, it would of been great if they attempted to contacting me before going to collections but apparently they just take my contact info so they can give it to the collection company. I had an appointment with Dr. Rhee in his Annandale office a few weeks ago. It was going to take about a month to get an appointment with the last ENT I'd seen, so I started calling around, and Dr. Rhee's office fit me in two days after I called to schedule the appointment. I was late for my appointment because I had some trouble finding the office - my GPS put me about a block away from where I should have been, and since it put me in the middle of a strip-mall type location, I called to find out where I should go. The receptionist said it was her first day, so she had to find someone else who could give me directions. Once I arrived, I had to wait 5-10 minutes to get the new patient paperwork while the receptionist was taking payment from and giving paperwork to other patients. There were always at least 6 patients in the waiting area during the entire time I was there, and there seemed to be a quick turnover because people were constantly being called in to see the doctor, so things were a little hectic in the reception area...though not unorganized. After completing the paperwork, I had to wait for another 30 minutes or so before I was seen. I think the doctor saw other patients before me if they arrived before me, even if their original appointment was after mine. I'm not sure how I feel about that; I didn't have to work that day so I was happy playing around on my phone, but the waiting area was small and crowded. Once I was in with the doctor, I had a quick and pleasant experience - he assessed my paperwork and didn't ask too many redundant questions (a big pet peeve of mine), did a physical exam and then talked to me about what he thought would be the best course of action. I asked a couple of questions based on things I'd heard from two previous ENTs, and he was very patient and calm and explained why they did and said what they did, and why he was saying and doing what he was doing. Then he wrote a prescription and said to come back if it didn't work out, but he expected the problem to be resolved in a week to 10 days. Sure enough, about 5 days later, my problem was significantly reduced. I appreciated that I didn't feel rushed when I was talking with him, even though there were half a dozen other patients waiting to see him; I also appreciated that he didn't talk down to me; he didn't require me to come in for a follow up, which many other specialists seem to do; and best of all, I had a remedy to my problem within a week of calling to make the appointment. The only downsides were the wait, which was partly (mostly?) my fault and the small/crowded waiting area. Overall, I seem to have a lot of problems with my ears, so next time they flare up, I'll definitely give Dr. Rhee's office a call. read more

I liked that this doctor was close to me. My PCP recommended him to me for a chronic sore throat that could not be resolved after 3 months. I don't believe I have ever been to an ENT before. He talked to me for a couple of minutes, sprayed something up my nose and came back with a tube that he stuck through my nose and presumably in my throat. All of this took less than 1-2 minutes. He said he saw nothing and said I could try a RX strength med for acid reflux (most likely caused by stress and resulting digestive distress-this was my diagnosis, not the doctors). 2 weeks later, I get a bill (still have the sore throat) that says I owe him $150 Co-pay for pre-surgical consultation. Wait, what? I'm disputing his charges with my insurance company ; my co-pays for specialists usually run $35 under my plan for which he is a preferred provider. It really irritates me that they didn't even tell me what they charged up front. I am adjusting this review because he dropped the charges. I went through the whole process for disputing the charges and then appealing what the health insurance ruled. They said I must pay because the services were rendered and they weren't privy to the conversation I had with the doctor. My point exactly was that I did not have a chance to consider whether or not to have the treatment based on all details to include price. Well, since the Dr's accounting office started threatening me with pinging my credit report I decided to pay and sent my check with a letter. Much to my surprise, three weeks later I received my check back with a note saying Dr Rhee decided to write it off. I thought Dr Rhee was great. I don't need my doctor to exchange pleasantries with me. I need them to be knowledgeable, informative and provide me with any necessary data. Dr Rhee did just that. I brought my baby in to have his tounge tie evaluated. Dr Rhee took the time to talk through the options, the pros and cons and patiently answered all of our questions and concerns so that we were able to make an educated decision. I haven't been back to Dr. Rhee, but after trying to figure out why I've been getting migraines, in spite of the things found, it's ultimately not a sinus issue, and my sinus issues are caused as a side effect of my migraines (and not the other way around, as I had originally thought). Still, he'd prefer a patient with some obscure zoonotic disease in their facial cavities over someone with the sniffles, so meh. read more

I had a very good experience. Appointment was on time. Dr took a thorough look at my swollen salivary gland. Issued medication that actually shrunk it (unlike what the ER had prescribed) and when it didn't make it disappear completely, he ordered a CT Scan. He's very thorough. Dr. Rhee has taken my tonsils out, as well as two of my kids tonsils and adenoids, and put in ear tubes for one son. That was all ok.... but then I took in my baby with tie lip and tie tongue who had trouble nursing and he seemed to be clueless about that. He suggested that I just give it time and that not all babies have the same suck. I later took the baby to another ENT who said it was an obvious lip/ posterior tongue tie and released it in office. read more

I have sleep apnea, and have been seeing another doctor. It seemed the other doctor just wanted to keep seeing me for no reason without really discussing all the treatment options. Dr. Rhee went through a long discussion about all the treatment options. His excellent staff was able to get previous records, which he went over with me. The previous doctor had never really gone over the sleep study with me. I feel I have a greater understanding of my problem, and am better equipped to decide how to treat it. I am not sure I will go with surgery with Dr. Rhee, but I feel I can approach it more realistically. read more

If I could leave a negative star rating, I would. Dr. Rhee is a completely incompetent pompous *insert foul language here* in my opinion. I took my 13 month old son in to see him after his pediatrician recommended he be seen by an ENT for persistent congestion and sinus infections. I explained his symptoms, and Dr. Rhee literally looked in both ears for a total of about 2 seconds each, then immediately popped up and said "I'd like to get tubes put in his ears". My son has never even had an ear infection and he wants to recommend putting in tubes because he *thinks* that *could* become an issue in the future because of the sinus infections. So instead of looking into and correcting the current issue, he wants to fix a hypothetical future issue that may or may not occur. Put a 13 month old baby under the knife for a hunch. Makes sense to me, NOT! After I denied his claim and said we would not go through with tubes unless an issue arose that required them, he got arrogant and said "am I the doctor, or are you? Did you not come in here for my professional medical opinion?". I was so baffled by his complete and utter ignorance that I stormed out of the office and will never ever return. I am seriously considering researching and looking into how I can go above him to report this behavior. Stay far far away from this Dr unless you're looking for a misdiagnosis and a one-sided ignorant conversation where you will never be right. read more

This was my first time seeing Dr. Rhee, I was very late for my appointment(work) I called the reception to let her know, she said please come and we will work with. The waiting room was very busy, after I filled out the new patient forms, I was back in the examination room with in 15 min. Dr. Rhee recommended surgery for my issue, explained in detail what, why, how he was going to do it, and now that's it's over I have never felt better. I scheduled my appoint to remove the splints/stitches and showed up early, he immediately brought me back and removed everything because he knew how uncomfortable I was. Dr. Rhee was very kind, and has a great bedside manner, and I felt he truly cared about my wellbeing and comfort through out the whole process.
