I needed two types of ultrasound tests, but my to go facility doesn't accept them till next month. Luckily Downtown Radiology booked my appointment within two days after I applied. Applying is only by their online site. I took a picture of physical requisition paper by smartphone and sent it on their application format. And they will send back a PDF file to your email as confirmation. I know the address the building but to find the room was challenging. There was no major sign. To be honest, it's kinda skeptical place for those medical service. However the service was good. The appointment confirmation call the day before was very cold and not much explanation for the instruction which I almost failed. The receptionist lady was very flexible thankfully. So I went to Brooks (kingsway) and also royal Columbian hospital and downtown radiology robson street... pretty much given up. Went to the downtown one (In Chinatown) and you'd never know there was one in this Asian mini plaza, upstairs just to the right on the second floor, tucked away They were helpful. Told me if I was willing to wait 45 mins I could stay and get it done same day without having to come back another day. Seeing as I've been running around town all morning trying to book somewhere. I waited. Waited 7 mins. Was out of there in 20 mins total. They only do I think it says X-rays without appointment. And everything else you need appointment? But I think that might be if it's super booked. They obviously were not very busy there was plenty of chairs in the waiting area THANK YOU TO THE LOVELY LADY THAT DID MY ULTRASOUND TODAY This is a list of all the places that DO NOT DO ROTATOR CUFF ULTRASOUNDS..... shocking right? Went for for an ultrasound and they missed a very important issue I had.. did not take any images of the issue despite me telling them what I had. So now I'm on the phone dealing with them again trying to get me in for another ultrasound! The lady on the phone said call back in 30 mins as she cannot help me now. Horrific experience. My appointment was noon. 40 minutes later I have not been called in so I asked when. They said soon. I said I've been waiting for 40 minutes very patiently. They said it had to be the same technician so I had to wait for him. Is there nobody else qualified to do the ultrasound? I had to add more money on parking. All the receptionists could tell me was I'm sorry. I don't get it, they call you the day before to remind you which is great but what about telling you ahead of time that there could be a possible delay. This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. I had a referral from my doctor to have my Ultrasound here. Just talking to them on the phone makes your blood boil with the way they treat you as a patient. The lady who answered the phone literally schooled me on how to deal with my bookings online and haven't recieved any replies and now confirming my appointment through the phone. I know it gets busy there but I don't like her tone and how she talks to me, she's rude! If you have an appointment here? Find another clinic. I'll admit it was a bit of an adventure getting to this location. If I had a do-over, I would've walked up from the Science World area instead of through Hastings. It's not the nicest neighbourhood, and the clinic is a little hard to find (part of LifeLabs inside a Chinatown mall on the 2nd floor). Nevertheless, I had a really positive experience with the clinic itself from the initial phone call through to the ultrasound and x-ray. After calls with at least 5 different receptionists at different clinics, the girl I made my appointment with at Downtown Radiology was by far the kindest and cheeriest. They were able to get me in within 2 days, let me wait within the clinic instead of the shared LifeLabs waiting area, and served me early when I arrived earlier than my appointment time. Everyone I came in contact with was super friendly - the receptionists, the radiologists (is that what they're called?), and the x-ray technician (especially her!) When I was waiting to be called, I overheard the receptionists chatting with each other between phone calls, and it's clear they have a genuine camaraderie. Just goes to show that positive energy can be contagious. read more

I have mixed feelings about this office. I visited on a Saturday, for an x-ray. On one hand, it's awesome that this practice is open on Saturdays. Convenient. And they take walk-ins for x-rays. Also helpful. The lady manning the front counter was friendly and very approachable, and the technician who eventually called my name and escorted me to the changing room and the x-ray room, and who took my x-rays, was also lovely and pleasant. The downsides? The office itself is, shall we say, dated and dumpy. The waiting room reminded me of historic films I've seen of Ellis Island and the hordes of people waiting to be processed, back in the day. This office is shared by LifeLabs and to say it gets crowded is a gross understatement. And the waiting room is capital-C Crazy. Rows of folding chairs in the middle and folding chairs along the perimeter wall, with LifeLabs staff and Radiology staff shouting peoples' names from various doorways, counter staff processing patients when they come in and again when they leave, the overflow of patients standing and leaning against any available wall space or opting to sit on the floor. Kids crying, parents antsy, everyone impatient. It seems like an inefficient system here, truth be known (and I used to work in a doctor's office, a hospital and various labs, so I know of all the pitfalls). The lovely lady who checked me in couldn't initially find the requisition my doctor faxed in two days earlier (she looked in three places before locating it). I heard people's medical issues when they were being checked in and what they were charged and how they were paying for services when they checked out (there's not a lot of privacy here). And the facility itself is worn and old and dusty. My changing room cubicle was like a makeshift closet with patches of paint and spackle on the walls, and the corridor leading down to the x-ray room was equally patched up in areas. Every room I was in (waiting room, changing room, x-ray room and long corridor) was sterile, with grey paint with patches on walls, no artwork, worn linoleum flooring.... just run down. Unfortunately they don't take appointments for x-rays so one might have to wait a long time to be seen. Fortunately for me, despite the waiting room being so busy, I was seen within 20-25 minutes, and the procedure was quick and painless. And, as mentioned, my x-ray tech was really lovely. I haven't heard back about results, but I don't know if that's a lapse with this clinic's doctor who checks the x-rays and makes the reports, or the staff who faxes said reports to the patients' doctors, or the patients' doctor who is supposed to follow-up with their patients. I hope no news is good news! All in all, I'd prefer to go to this practice's Hornby Street location (if only it were open on Saturdays), as it is less chaotic there and less run-down. But at least they got the job done here and the staff were professional and friendly. read more

I had a traumatic experience today at Downtown Radiology, Keefer Imaging due to unsafe changing room assigned for female patients, and somewhat aggressive and inappropriate male technician. This place is simply not set up for female patients. First, a male technician was assigned to prep me. He stood right behind the changing room's curtain, while instructing me to take my top off and put the paper gown on. The curtain is loosely installed at the opening of changing rooms on a busy and narrow aisle, facing a male treatment room. So, frequently people passed through the aisle and I was so afraid that the technician or other people could see me. It felt extremely unsafe and l had to check the curtain several times to make sure. When the male technician brought me to the imaging room, we were alone and the doctor was not there yet. He had no awareness around personal space,  and no compassion in his ways to talk to me. He literary touched my body without my permission with an excuse that he needed to fix my gown, while speaking so loudly and aggressively to explain the procedure to me. I felt terrible and I told him not to touch me for any reasons without my permission. He stopped and said sorry, but his unprofessional table side manners continued. He had no proper trainings to handle patients. When I brought this up at the receptionist table, another male staff who appeared to be a supervisor forced himself to our conversation with receptionist and he completely dismissed my point and talked me down to shut me off. He defended their work set up and staff and had no compassion. I highly recommend female patients, do not visit this terrible place. I've already called my specialist and let them know since Downtown Radiology refused to listen. read more

My experience was not so bad. I had to wait 10 minutes past the appointment time which is actually excellent as it was at then of the business day when you expect a longer lag these days. Reception was courteous and so was the ultrasound technician. There is no getting around the shabbiness of the neighbourhood. It is so sad as I used to enjoy the ambience of Chinatown but the last 12 years have not been kind to the neighbourhood. read more

My husband had to arrange an appointment for an ultrasound, so he called, and after listening to the options, he learned that he had to scan the requisition to their email address. He did so, and he received an answer telling him to follow a set of steps to send the requisition again together with his health number. I don't know what will happen if the date/time of the appointment is not convenient for him. Probably he will have to send his picture, scan his last dental Xrays and attach a letter of recommendation from the Prime Minister. read more

It was my first time having ultrasound, so like the normal other people I had no idea about what should I do. Therefore when she said the info I couldnt hear it and asked hr to repeat it. This has got to be the worst radiology clinic in Vancouver. They are unorganized, disfunctional and rude. I came for my appointment and they were running about 15 minutes behind from what I was informed at check in. I waited 25 minutes before I was seen. Do you know how hard it is to hold a full bladder? I had called the day before to ask if the abdominal ultrasound was necessary because of how my anatomy was situated. This way I could avoid drinking all that water prior to the ultrasound. Reception told me the sonographer said to still do it. Anyway I came in, asked if my husband could come in with me and was told by the Indian sonographer that the first half he would need to concentrate and not be distracted while he takes measurements but my husband could come in during the second half. I had a few ultrasounds done in previous weeks out of the country and had copies of my record. The sonographer asked me if he could take copies of it and never gave them back to me while he couldn't get accurate measurements and had to get a female sonographer to do an internal ultrasound. I never got this sonographer's name. The next one was Olga. Harsh lady. She brought me into a different room and I asked if my husband could be there for me. She said no. She has to concentrate and cannot be distracted while taking measurements. I asked if he could come in at the second half and she proceeded to scold me by telling me that the ultrasound is NOT FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES. Wtf?? It wasn't for entertainment purposes. I wanted to know if my baby was OK. My husband wanted to see. He's part of the equation too. At the end I asked how big it was. She wouldn't tell me. She just said my ordering doctor or midwife will contact me. At the end when my appointment was done. I asked front desk if I'm finished. They said yes but I asked where my original paperwork was. They didn't know and they had to find the sonographer who was with another patient and couldn't barge in. So I was told to wait. I waited 10 minutes and couldn't wait any longer. I hadn't eaten yet for the day because I had appointments in the morning. So I walked back to the front desk and lost it on them saying I need to eat and this isn't fair to make me wait for my paperwork. How hard is it to make copies of two sheets of papers? It should have been done immediately and given back to me so it doesn't get lost in an office fill of people. I saw my midwife the next day. She didn't even have a chance to read my report and was reading it with me to find out bad news. Apparently the protocol should have been, someone who is able to explain the unfortunate situation should have been called and I should have been informed the bad news immediately and also my midwife should have been contacted immediately. They failed to do so! My midwife said downtown radiology broke protocol and will be dealt with so this doesn't happen again to someone. As a mother to be, all you want to know your child is alive. I also called another radiology clinic in town and asked and they said my husband would have been able to join me in the second half. Tldr: if you're pregnant, don't come here for an ultrasound. They treat you like shit. They hold information from you. Stay away from here! read more

To be honest, I never followed through with the appointment as I had to cancel, but the booking experience and cancellation--basically all phone interaction with this establishment--was super great! It's very shady when you have to refer to a ultrasound website to do ultrasounds. The office is a shared space with Life Labs medical. Business on Saturday is very busy. The wait for an ultrasound was about 30 minutes even with an appointment. The lab tech called my name and walked me to the back of the brightly painted offices. There are two rooms for ultrasounds. He asked me to have a seat on the exam table and I were to remove my shoes and lie down. The oversized ultrasound machine in this small room made it very claustrophobic. The tech said to me: "We have to do this by the book" as he referred to his computer. The ultrasound procedure took about 30mins. When I was done, he said goodbye and neglected to open the door or walk me out of the office. read more

I can only speak from my experience but on my visit to Downtown Radiology, the entire team were professional, kind and every step of the way, informative. I had a breast ultra sound and they made sure my Dr received a copy of the tests the same day plus a phone call. They were on time for the appt, actually getting me in earlier. I know on any given day an office can provide a different experience but I felt that they all seemed to know their jobs well and at the end of the day that can make a difference in diagnosing something like Cancer. Thank you to everyone there so that I can begin to get the treatment I need early. read more

I was a bit worried about making an appointment here after reading the reviews, but luckily had a really positive experience overall. Got an appointment for an ultrasound in 5 days, spoke with friendly and helpful staff while making the appointment, when calling for follow-up information prior to the appointment, and when I checked in for my appointment. The waiting room is pretty old school and clinical, which I don't mind - shared with the LifeLabs, and most people were waiting for those appointments. They were running exactly on time, thankfully for my bladder. The tech was quiet, efficient, and pleasant. Will update if there is some mess up between now and when I speak to my doctor about the results, but I have zero complaints about the process. read more

If you have the option to go to a different Lab, do it! Employees that work here are 100% miserable and they transfer their misery to the clients! Terrible service; they all look completely unhappy and treat you rude and with actitud. Bad service, they screw up tests and they recall you for retesting; when you get there they do not even have your information. Dont go here! Incompetent techs and report that drs cant rely on. Found out I was most likely miscarrying through the expression of the tech. He brought in a senior tech to help so I knew then and there something was wrong. so I made an appointment with EPAC and had a rescan and to discuss if there were any changes with the measurements given by downtown radiology. that is when the Dr at EPAC told me the report measurements didn't make any sense and couldn't rely on it. So here I am playing a waiting game for another week to confirm the miscarriage Update: I spoke with my family Dr last week who told me he didn't receive the report from Downtown Radiology until Jan 9th which was a week and a half after my scan when they told me 2 business days. If I didn't sense something was wrong and took matters to my own hands to call EPAC for answers, I would've waited around over 2 weeks getting the news about the miscarriage read more

Very strange place for a clinic. Unorganized and bad communication skills between the front desk and radiologist. Running 40 mins behind and patients having ultrasounds were having to go pee before the appointments. Then having to wait further for the ultrasound. The radiologist then seemed annoyed and unfriendly when it's the clinic who is running behind. People can only hold there bladder for so long. Pales in comparison to Grieg and Associates or Saint Paul's hospital. Will not go back. read more

Pure shit. Somehow they booked me for a pelvic appointment instead of kidney. OK, may be some miscommunication issues over the phone I get but there is this dude standing in their reception no idea what his role actually is immediately looking pissed off when he saw my request for ultrasound mumbling "no I can't do it man". Like a total dick he blamed it on me: "You told the manager it was a pelvic" and he points at their fuckin computer system. Am I the one who put it in your fuckin system? why would I having had pain in my kideny for months ask for a pelvic ultrasound? I ended up walking out after six days of waiting. read more

Thank you, thank you, thank you! The techs, the front desk staff, the owner of the lab, and the radiologist all contributed to a very positive experience at downtown radiology. What happened in my routine ultrasound was one of the strangest and most confusing moments of my life.. but the staff here did further investigation, called my doctor, and consulted with me on the spot about what they were seeing. It saved me from days of anxiety between the appointment and the next time I would have been able to see my doctor. I'm so thankful for this lab and and the fact that this test result helped me get down to the bottom of what seemed like an impossible mystery. Thanks again!! read more
