Then the experience itself was amazing. We met Michelle in Sonoma in a parking lot where we could safely leave our car, and we were off for the day. As part of the vegan tour, we started at a farmed animal sanctuary and the behind the scenes tour at Charlie's Acres was amazing. It was really special to see the animals and visit with the staff. Then we had a boxed lunch outside from Sunflower Caffe (best wrap ever), then we stopped for leisurely visits at two wineries. One best known for the beauty of the grounds, the second on the square was so good we signed up for wine club since they offered a vegan cheese plate. We had vegan and gluten free options without even asking for it. Michelle is so engaging and thoughtful. She provides the right amount of advice, friendship and kindness without becoming over-the-top. The van was super comfortable, and every detail was taken care of. We paid our wine tastings, and that left us in control of our experience as well (want to share a tasting, great that's your call, white or red or both, great too, your call). I'd highly recommend this experience, no reservations at all, and we have already talked about booking a second experience with different wineries. It's that good. Michelle is an A++ experience.

From start to finish the whole experience was smooth and so enjoyable! Marc was the best tour guide with so much information to share and we even met Michelle along the way at one of the wineries. Michelle was so knowledgeable about all things Vegan in Sonoma! She even went as far as to mark up a little map of the area we were staying in with all locations that had vegan offerings. The tour consisted of an amazing first stop at Charlie's Acres animal sanctuary (at this stop we were provided a yummy acai bowl and ice cream) where we met, fed, gave belly rubs to all their amazing rescued animals, then we had a delicious vegan lunch at the next stop (a winery) and lastly stopped at one more winery with such beautiful scenery and delicious wine! This tour is the holy grail for vegans! When else do we get so many accommodations and freedom!? We even got a little box of the most delicious chocolate (of course vegan) I mean come on! Our group of six went to three wineries and stopped for lunch. Luke worked with me beforehand to determine the itinerary and then he took the reigns on contacting the wineries to make the final reservations. Once the day of our tour arrived, all we had to do was be ready at our hotels and then Luke took care of the rest. With a diversity of home styles it is a great place to have a home tour and show that Martinez is more than a refinery town or the County Seat. L & I purchased our tickets as soon as they were available at one of the many events on Main Street. This was the third annual tour, with the proceeds benefiting the Historical Society. The architectural designs of the homes on this year's tour included Victorians, an early 1900 craftsmen style home, some 1920's & 1930's bungalows, and a Tudor home. What I like about this tour and why it is a five star event The diversity of home styles A well written guide book that tells about the history of the home and the people of Martinez All the homes had wonderful high end classic cars, like a 1930 something Pierce Arrow, parked in front of them. The other cars were also very impressive. I walk by one house twice and the 1930 something Cadillac parked in front of it was surround by admirers. These beautiful cars don't show up at most car shows. The docents stationed in the homes all were dressed in the period style of when the home was built. And perhaps the best thing about this tour is even thought the homes are showplaces, at least on the day of the tour, I could see myself living in most of them.

The upcoming 2012 Martinez Home Tour will take place on Saturday October 13th. The 7 private homes…read morewill be located within walking distance of each other -- although a shuttle service will be available every 10 minutes. This is a very interesting event because it has antique cars, displays, exhibits, period demonstrations and musicians that are mixed in with the homes. This year, there will also be 4 "points of interest" on the Tour -- all located in the same area as the homes. The points of interest include the brass and stone monument that identifies the spot where the Martini was invented. Also the "doll hospital" where vintage dolls are repaired, new dolls are manufactured and doll making classes are taught. Also City Hall -- with a docent on duty to explain that the building began life in 1917 as a school to accomodate the influx of children into town as the new Shell Refinery began operating. The Shell Clubhouse is the starting point for the Tour. Its Arts & Crafts interior will be filled with displays and exhibits. Then there are four museums which will be open during the tour: The Shell Oil Museum, the Martinez Museum, the John Muir Mansion and the Martinez Adobe.

Didn't know what to do for my birthday, and came across this beer bike tour. I don't drink, but I…read morefigured it would be fun and my friends can do the drinking. It was very easy to book online on their website. We were a group of 12. It was $27.5 for each of us. If you have 14 people you would get a deal for $25 a person, and the whole bike would be yours. Our "driver," Travis was real nice and laid back. We didn't go too far, but it was more for the experience. It lasts about 2-2.5 hours. We biked to 3 different breweries, and hung out at each for about 30 mins. It was fun! I would definitely do it again!

The only downside is that the two seats above the back wheels don't have pedals, so only 10 people can bike at a time (5 people on each side). This may not be a bad thing if you get tired and want to take turns pedaling. It was $27.50 a person, and every individual is required to sign a waiver. The vehicle has shelves inside where you can store your belongings and there are cup holders on the table for you to place your water or phone. There are seatbelts for each chair, but none of us really used them (oops). They also have an aux cord, so you can play your music while pedaling! We met our tour guide at Independent Brewing Company. He was very friendly and considerate that we were a little late. Before we got started, he asked what type of drinks we were interested in. He took us Seawolf first, then Slainte and we finished at Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon. All were great choices although Slainte was my favorite. Neat Irish tavern with people playing live music inside. Heinold's was a little small and claustrophobic, but they are known for their beer. When we returned to our vehicle after the second bar, our tour guide came in clutch and stocked our cup holders with pretzels and water. Please don't forget to tip your tour guides! The tour was about 2 hours long. No, drinks are not included in the fee. But this was a fun way to get around the neighborhood, drink, laugh, dance, sing, and overall just be together with friends. Highly recommend!
