The best coffee for many MANY miles to the best of my knowledge. I suppose you could do better at some super bouchie place in NY but this is seriously good stuff. I have not eaten here yet but the sandwiches looked equally awesome. The best part about this place is that has all of the advantages of a modern contemporary cafe without spoiling any of the homie small town ambiance of Wolfeborro. It fits is perfectly and is a wonderful addition to the area. Their porch outback is the best lakeside dining view you will ever have. I intend to go back soon for breakfast. I think this will fill the breakfast void left when we lost Bailey's up town. read more

Wow, talk about fabulous customer service! .We arrived just after they closed but didn't realize it, their door was unlocked. Was informed that they were closed so we left and walked around the corner. Owner came around the corner to get us and said he could make us cold sandwiches. We said perfect, ordered our late lunch and went and ate it at the waterfront. How many restaurants have you been to that does that!!! I always suggest my clients to come here. It use to be a pharmacy with the entire lakeside section for storage. The owners knew that opening that part up and then adding a deck make it the most perfect setting for dining. I spend a ton of time in Wolfeboro over the summer - I have eaten in all the restaurants many times. The Cafe has emerged as my favorite. The food is consistently delicious. They use high quality products in their meats, bread etc. simple as that. Along with some creative sandwiches, excellent burgers, and very good cup of coffee. I like the ice coffee, my wife gets the lattes. My kids usually split the cuban panini , my wife gets California avocado club and i get the cuban burger. For breakfast i usually get an sausage egg and cheese on english. The sausage is great, compare to DD which I do eat the Cafe's is far superior. Sometime ordering can be slow, their setup is not ideal. that is the one drawback, if your in a rush during primetime you may have a wait. Last note is on the staff - they are great, attentive professional, the whole package. I love this place! read more

Mixed feelings about Downtown Grille Cafe. The goods: + Excellent, delicious food. I had the turkey cranberry panini with some sweet potato fries. Love it! + Reasonable prices + Pretty quick turnaround considering how busy they seemed. + Great location right by the town docks, so we drove over in our boat, tied up to the dock, and walked in for lunch. The not-so-goods: - Nowhere on the door outside, the big menu inside, the handheld menu, or the online menu does it say they only serve breakfast until 11 a.m. Makes for a frustrating change of expectations when your kids get excited about waffles. - The staff lacked enthusiasm and seemed annoyed that we were there. - The tables weren't wiped down between customers, so the empty tables had sticky remnants of the previous customers. In the end, the food was good enough that I would go back. I just wouldn't expect a warm welcome or clean tables. ...or breakfast. read more

Summary: -Rude staff who lack ability to function in society politely -Overpriced -Poor quality Details: Horrid experience here. We have been going here for years and the food has been getting worse and worse. $9 for small sandwiches that do not even include chips or a pickle. Once I ordered a salad and it came with less than a handful of lettuce for $11. Yesterday, it took a second phone call before one of their 5-6 employees answered to take my order (at 2pm which shouldn't have been a busy time). The. When I came to pick up my order, the staff was either working hard or 2-3 of them were just standing around. No one greeted me as I stood at the register. All ignored me as I awkwardly stared at them for over 5 minutes and could see my takeout order with my name on it sitting there. I finally had to ask for my food and the girl said "$27" (for 2 adult sandwiches and a kids grilled cheese) and then she failed to say "thank you" or "have a nice day", or anything pleasant at all. This is a cozy place with a beautiful view. There are three separated sections here and a fireplace sitting area as well. Very nice and cozy for a light meeting or serious homework. Lol. Very unsafe place. Most employees are not wearing masks. Also, customers are served who are not wearing masks. Food is very average. @James (09/10/2020): 1) When I visited your place there were two groups of customers not wearing masks. None of your employees asked them to put on masks or even offered them with any. 2) Think about it for a moment: You have an open kitchen and your staff is walking back and forth between the cash area and the kitchen area not wearing a mask. Stumbled on this gem while visiting Wolfeboro today. We wanted waterfront lunch with a great view and this cafe more than delivered! Fantastic view of Lake Winnipesaukee and next to a lovely shady park at the dock. So quaint and again, stunning views! We ordered the cranberry turkey wrap and it was served with homemade chips. Worth the wait! The line was long but moves relatively quickly and omg the food is delicious! We had breakfast food, I had a bacon egg and cheese croissant, the cold brew coffee is amazing too! My fiancé got the corn beef hash wrap, also amazing! Ambiance in the restaurant is really nice. People behind the counter were also very nice and prompt. Came to wolfeboro for a wedding and found ourselves reading reviews for a breakfast place. Let me say, I am incredibly CONFUSED at all of the five star reviews and the continuous line at the register. You walk in and order your food at a register where they give you a number for your table. It cost us 30$ for 1 Bloody Mary, 1 water, 1 omelette, 1 egg wrap. OK. That's fine, must be good-we thought. The Bloody Mary was so spicy I couldn't even drink it. Literally wasted. We sat down at a table and waited patiently. We received our food about 20 minutes later and were immediately disappointed. Milk carton eggs, cold English muffin, The wrap was meh, Poor quality. We LOVE going to brunch and enjoy the overall experience--this was not that. I truly dislike writing negative reviews but someone needs to talk about the real deal here. read more

This place seems to have it all: Food (seemed like a good selection, and I enjoyed the fruit salad, which was fresh and had a good mix of things I like), coffee (really good), gelato (also great), and some options for wine, beer, and sangria (didn't try, but seemed like a decent selection), free wi-fi, good service. Nice order-at-the-counter cafe, they bring the food to your table, and there's a deceptively large amount of seating once you discover the back area. I got the special of the day- a salami and provolone sandwich that had just the right amount of mustard and huge thick slices of salami. Really tasty, but a little hard to get my teeth through. It was about $8 and came with their homemade potato chips. I don't always like homemade chips because sometimes kettle chips have the texture of glass shards and I'm not about that but these were merely crunchy. If anything, they were on the side of underdone, as some of them were distinctly chewy, though I didn't mind. Their fries are the kind I refer to as "Pizza Place fries" because they seem to abound at restaurants that don't normally serve fries but have them on their menu anyway. They're the long ones with the crunchy crumb-prone coating over them. They were hot and tasty, but the large was only just enough to share between two people. This place is super nice! I really liked the decor and patio outside. It was partly cloudy and the umbrellas shielded me from the sun when it did come out. I had the California pannini. My husband had the lobster roll. We both indulged with red Sangria. My sandwich was very tasty. Not too oily. Lots of turkey and spinach. The mozzarella was pretty good as well. My husband said his lobster roll was very good and he liked that they had a cup of butter on the side so he could put as much as he wanted on. The sangria was really good as well. Not too sweet. I hate giving three stars as my family loves this place. Food quality and selection is great. Service is lackluster, and cleanliness questionable. Views are nice, and interior unremarkable. Matter of fact we have come 20+ times and rarely is our order 100% correct. Muffins are delicious and great variety. LOVE the corned beef. Coffee is better than most places around, but, on a busy day, the staff can't seem to keep up with it. Never seem to get here for lunch but have heard good things. Don't expect more than average food and bad service. Had to come back two times to get order an order of chicken sandwich and two spinach salads correct. The second time I went back because my salad wasn't tossed, like I asked for three times when I was at the counter, and there was no dressing on it the manager said that my salad was tossed but this salad doesn't automatically come with dressing. When I asked what it was tossed with, and what the concept of tossing a salad meant to them they wouldn't answer. When the manager persisted that salads don't always come with dressings the owner at first stepped in and said I was correct, but then said "I'm not sure why you are still here" my answer "I don't have an edible salad yet so...". I asked them to refund the very generous $6 tip I left on takeout food which they did but they were never apologetic about their mistake or offered any kind of apologetic words about me having to come back two times to get my food. Do NOT eat here. Most unsafe place I have seen since COVID began six months ago. The only employee who wears a mask is the one working the cash register. Everyone who prepares food and beverages wears no mask, no gloves, and they are tightly packed. I saw one sneeze all over a cookie lol. This place was really nice and had some really good food. Its prepared in a very nice way and the food looks amazing. I had a lobster roll which was tasty and loaded with lobster. I chose the onion rings and those were really good too. The butter sauce that came with it could have been melted more, but it was not a deal breaker. This place has an excellent view out front of the water, but when we were there all the seats were taken because it was a very busy time of day. I will return to the Downtown Grille Cafe next time I hit up the NH area for sure. I need to try all the different things on their menu!!! Yummy!! I love downtown grille. They have so much space and delicious food. I love their knowledge in the coffee department (it's the only city thing I need) and their sandwhiches. Yesterday I had the ultimate grilled cheese (pesto, 3 cheeses, bacon, wheat bread) and a basket of their amazing fries. (OMG they have real, crispy fries...not steak fries) -- hubby had a ham panini. Over the summers we have seen so many places come and go, but downtown grille (especially since they moved locations and now have a view of the lake), is our new go to.
