I've come to this florist a couple of time to purchase pre-made bouquets, the latest trip was for mothers day. The results have always brought smiles to the flower recipients face, which in turn makes me look like gold. If you know the type of flowers the person really enjoys, they will make you a custom arrangement in under ten minutes. The staff have always been courteous and engaging with me, even when I'm humming and hawing while decision making. Bought these yesterday after seeing they were a dollar cheaper than whole foods. I also liked that the daffodil bunches included about 8 per bunch for 2.99. They bloomed in less than 24 hrs. Not sure how long they will last but seen as how some have yet to bloom I imagine they will last the week. I do wish they had a larger selection of tulip colors. ** It's day 2 and about 48 hrs later and the tulips have bloomed and some are already wilting. Truely disappointed but I read some other reviewers and it seems to be a pattern. I feel that they should have lasted at least 3 to 4 days before beginning to wilt. The daffodils on the other hand have all bloomed and look vibrant in Lively.** read more

This spot will draw your attention with the beautiful bright bouquets that border the sidewalk. I purchased some gorgeous white lilies here that lasted and lasted. But the store is pretty much an all-round good place to drop by if you're purchasing a last-minute gift. Lots of cutesy knick-knacks and some truly bizarre statues may fit the bill if you've forgotten a birthday or anniversary. (Look at the close-up photo...) Are flowers that die within 6 hours of having them your thing? Then this is the store for you! My husband knows my favorite flowers are peonies and surprised me saturday night with a bouquet from this store. We cut the stems, placed them in water and I admired them. The next morning they were dead. I called and complained and after some hesitation was told I could exchange them for new ones. When I got there I could tell the owner was annoyed she had to give me new flowers, but did it anyway and told me it was my fault because I hadn't cut off all the leaves. (???) So we brought my new bouquet home, cut the stems and some of the leaves. Today I woke up to dead wilted flowers. I called the store when I got home from work to simply ask for my money back, or an exchange for a bouquet of different flowers as the 2 other bouquets I bought from them last week were still alive and beautiful. You know what doesn't make good customer service? Not letting your customer finish a sentence, interrupting them repeatedly and yelling at them on the phone. I asked if I could have my money back and promised I'd continue to buy different bouquets weekly if they provided me with this one effort of good customer service. I was told they already went out of their way and didn't have to give me a new bouquet. Also that "sometimes flowers last weeks other times they die by the next day you just need to get over it." Needless to say they refused, and I mean REFUSED to refund my husband his money or provide me with a not dead on arrival bouquet. I will not return, and would encourage people who like to enjoy a bouquet longer than a fleeting moment not to shop here as well read more

I received a beautiful arrangement of cut flowers recently, from a colleague, as my father recently passed away. I really appreciated how Downtown Florist had endeavored to remove the stamens from the lilies, as the stains caused by them cannot be removed. I ordered some flowers for my sister's birthday online from their website last week and it was delivered today! I spent $67.19 and that was totally terrible!. I called the store after my sister got the flowers and complained what was going on and asked if they sent the wrong one to my sister. The lady said that was the right one and said I could not expect she would send something exactly the same as the picture. She was just so impolite to me! I will not order their flowers again! I love this flower shop!! It is close to home and the quality of the flowers is remarkable, they usually last between 1 and 2 weeks if you change the water in between. Usually I put my own flowers together as I'm not convinced by the freshness of pre-arranged bouquets, doesn't mean anything... just a personal preference. The last ones I bought here were orange-red roses paired with pink & white lily's and some green. The whole house was filled with that scent for days so fresh were they. It's now day 12 since I got them, roses are still good and 2 lily's are left as well. I paid 19$ for the whole arrangement, just as much as the bouquets outside would have been. I find the colors in those always way too bright and the type of flowers they use for these look like they are coming right off a Safeway rack. Please people, if you are already at a real florist pick something that has class written on it. Either yourself or your special someone will be very happy about it! I own a restaurant and always pick up my flowers from them for my weekly decor, of course I appreciate their very competitive pricing , but I also like their dedication to excellent customer service ! The floral arrangements are exceptional, and if you don't see something that appeals to you, they will help you put something together. I've always been thrilled with anything I've bought here. This is also where my boyfriend always buys flowers, so I get to enjoy the arrangements for myself, sometimes! I've always received friendly, helpful service, here. Usually you can identify a business owner from their staff, but not here. Everyone is so professional, I can't figure out who the owner is! I can't give this place enough praise. I LOVE it! I have bought flowers for myself and friends and guests over the years . Even the luxury hotel I worked for uses this florists for last minute orders when our regular florist were too busy. The owner is friendly and helpful. The website is easy to use. My flowers have all lasted as I took the time to ask how to cut them and which flowers not to mix with in the same vase . For example, daffidils don't mix with peonies as they will wilt. A tip I learned from this florist. Please keep in mind during covid 19 it will be harder to get more flowers or the ones you normally get as the florist get what they can from the suppliers. Shorter supply, means higher the cost to the consumer. Florist need to make a bit of a profit to survive. The potted hydrangeas I found here were much cheaper than the big box stores and much fresher. I'll always use this florist. read more

Ordered an amazing bouquet of flower for my wife along with a few other little gifts such as chocolates for her birthday to arrive at her work at a certain time so that she was there to receive them. Her work is literally a 2 minute walk from the florist. The flowers arrived hours before she arrived at work and people at her work had already ate some of the expensive chocolates that came with it! So I paid for her coworkers to see the flowers and eat her chocolates all because Downtown Gifts & Flowers or also known as Vancouver Florists could not follow a simple instruction that they asked about. The forms actually have a section for "special instructions" yet it seems like nobody ever looks at these EVER!!!! I'm surprised they actually arrived the same day with the way they took care of this! Will NEVER NEVER NEVER use these guys again! What a rip off!!! read more

Very rude customer service! I have been there quite a few times, I only get their stem-by-stem flowers because they are cheaper compared to other flowers shop and I took them home to do my own arrangements. I am not a fan for their floral designs. Their customer service was never good but a lot of times it was just meh, not offensive. Until one time when I was there the lady at the cashier was really rude to me when I was asking about the tulips they have, so since then I have blacklisted this store and never went back there again. read more

Horrible experience! the employee or the owner was rude and not helpful. I asked politely if they sell flowers similar to what I want for June. They told me to call a week before the date and completely ignored and discarded me. I can't believe I haven't been coming here more often! I passed by this place on my way to a friend's housewarming and picked out some flowers which the shopkeeper arranged for me nicely. They had a large selection and are fairly priced. I can't comment on how long the flowers lasted since I gave them away, so I'll update if I ever buy any for myself. Ordered roses for my sweetheart's birthday to be delivered ON her birthday, a weekday, a Thursday. Put the specific date and day of the week on the order in the delivery date spot as well as in the "special instructions" comment box. They delivered them one day early. When I called to complain, they said they would go back and pick them up and deliver them back to my partner's office again tomorrow?? "Sorry sir, it was our new girl that made the mistake." I suggested they deliver a new bouquet again on the right day and they said they "could not afford to do that." I hope they can afford this kind of review. Oh brother. :( read more

I am not sure about their flowers, but as for souvenirs, there are better place to go downtown, I once bought some souvenirs, but later on found out another store's prices on the same things are way cheaper. I went back try to return or at least get an exchange ( things I spent 25 dollars on were 10 dollars in another store). the things I bought were in great conditions with price tags. I got rejected, as the owner said they don't take anything back, even when I offer to have half my money back. You have to notice that there is nothing says final sale or no exchange on the receipt. I felt cheated, for their price and stance. I would think twice if I ever buy any souvenirs from them again. I would recommend you to check other stores for souvenirs. read more

I received a beautiful and expensive birthday bouquet of orchids, carnations, berries, and salal-type greens. It was in foam which I watered every day. It should have lasted at least 2 weeks given the hardy contents - my sister said she ordered it to last. The day I got it, I added a 2-day old cut gerbera because it needed a home. 5 days later everything was dead except the gerbera and the orchid. Obviously they used old plants. When I called to inform them they were unfriendly and denied that it should have lasted any longer. So, I'm warning you - don't expect their arrangements to last, no matter what you paid for them. read more

Been here a couple of times and have bought from here. I will say in agreement with many of the other reviews here, the customer service is terrible. Very dismissive attitude and makes you feel you are not wanted there and rather a nuisance. More like an assembly-chain line-worker attitude at a distribution center working on flowers rather than an actual store by the staff there. As I said, I have been here several times and have bought from here but after my last visit I decided I will never come here again and will take my business elsewhere. No specific incidence was the tipping point for this decision but I just kind of mentally evaluated today and realized dollars are better spent at a more acceptable florist. read more
