Well before it's charming renovation, back to when it had leather bar stools at the bakery counter and Jim in the back making the best apple fritters you've ever had. I come whenever I'm in town and it's always good. I think more than anything I come for the nostalgia. The Rice Krispie treats are always a solid pick and I enjoy them a lot. Same with the smiley face cookies, the bakery frosting is the best. I got a parfait for the first time since high school though and was sorely disappointed. They used to use wake robin yogurt (which I do remember them discontinuing some years ago), but now the yogurt is SO sweet. Overall it makes the parfait too sweet with the homemade granola and blueberry coulis. I couldn't help but notice how much smaller the parfait portions are too. They used to be full sized cups and now they're nearly half their former size which was definitely disappointing considering the price has certainly not gone down. In summary, the bakery will always hold a special place in my heart. Been going since I was a baby. The treats are good, sandwiches are solid, and they have a wide variety of beverages. It was funny just yesterday my girlfriend & I had a dessert coupon, free banana pudding from Mission BBQ. She said it was great, but not as good as the banana pudding at Sub place we were at in NY last year. I just reviewed R is for Raising Canes, and now representing 2025 in alphabet series, S is for Sub Stop. My girlfriend & I were on vacation traveling to Niagara Falls & Toronto and going back toward home took long route to see Kingston, ON, Watertown, Syracuse, & Finger Lakes. We didn't want to waste much time with eating lunch. Skaneateles looked kind of snooty, not easy quick options. I said Auburn is far more major town with some options that'll be quick. Hungry, we continued westward. We settled on Sub Stop as it seemed like a decent quick local option. This is a no frills place, basic counter seating, but good lighting. You order at the counter. Prices were reasonable. It was a Friday we were there, and tuna sandwich was the special. Tuna isn't my normal pick, which would be turkey, roast beef, or perhaps something else over picking tuna. I decided I was game to get the tuna since that was the special, and it's very rare I'd get a tuna sub or sandwich. Wow, their tuna was big & a nice large portion, which made the value even better! It was tasty too. There were a lot of black olives as I wanted. I believe we had chips too. After we ate, my girlfriend suggested the banana pudding for dessert as it looked like a homemade one. I agreed it definitely did look good, but we did eat a big sandwich. She said she'll pay for it. I said ok, I'm game to try it. Wow, I think this was the best banana pudding I've ever had (it had chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in, which was awesome), which is saying a lot as I think banana pudding is a southern delicacy. I've had some very good ones especially the one year I lived in Alabama. Speaking of Alabama, when I saw Auburn, NY on the map, I thought of the college town with the school of same name, Auburn University War Eagle! Highly recommend the sub sandwich or at the very least giving the banana pudding a try here!

It's pretty cool, then, to see new little spots like Daisy's popping up right after the new bike and pedestrian trail built over the old trolley line opened. Coincidence? Maybe! But if you're passing through rural Rensselaer county on your bike and feeling a little peckish, then Daisy's is an excellent new breakfast and lunch option just a short distance off the trail. Daisy's is brand new, so there are still kinks to work out -- our lovely waitress was struggling with her fancy electronic ordering machine, and there was a lot of confused running around in the kitchen. The food, though, was absolutely solid. My mom was a bit skeptical about the price of her BLT before she ordered, but took it back once she received her gigantic sandwich made with perfectly fresh ingredients and served with a mound of some of the tastiest Mac salad that either of us had ever had (plus a bag of chips!). My cup of the soup of the day was hot and flavorful (if slightly over over salted). The weakest link in the whole meal was the oddly soft hard roll for my breakfast sandwich: I'd ask for it toasted next time. Daisy's also serves local Tierra Farms coffee, which is a nice touch, and there were some really nice-looking treats in the pastry case. Overall this is a super cute little place that does a pretty good job of hitting the sweet spot between an old-fashioned small-town diner and a more modern cafe (with plans to add more vegetarian/vegan options to the menu). I'll absolutely come back, and I hope that places like this continue to open up and thrive in small communities around the region.

We looked at the menu and my wife decided on a Bagel Weck sandwich on pumpernickel - roast beef, creamy horseradish and a side of aus jus for dipping, while I chose a chicken parm sandwich on a garlic bagel. The line to order moved quickly, employees were friendly, and our food was made relatively quickly, and we enjoyed our food - my only complaint was my bagel was a bit too toasted and crispy for my liking, but that's all preference and there was nothing wrong with the sandwich itself. We did think it was a tad pricey (over $12 for each for a bagel sandwich), but they were a decent size and were filling. We'd definitely return.

The staff seemed to be preoccupied with each other with no one knowing what even bad service was... tried for an ice cream... ordered a cup and a small cone... dismissed to the "other window" upon paying where a unidentified cup was sitting with no apparent service ware available. I asked for a spoon and the counter creature barked there were sooon right in "front of you". There was a container above eye level with I guess had a few spoons at the bottom but since I had forgotten my x-ray goggles, I was unable to see the two spoons... then watching a young ice cream ... ahh tech, I suppose, struggle with the soft serve machine, but she did have a roughly 1 foot high cone and soft serve combo and she was trying to secure some help with this endeavor, I asked if that would be my small twist? At which time the excited gaggle of gathered counter kids all chortled "yes... that's our small!!!" OMG what a waste of marketing effort... no one over 15 needs that much ice cream... and it was a small... I refused it and asked for a reasonable sized portion to which they, the aforementioned gaggle said you want our kiddie portion... I agreed to that size but this could have been avoided if the had some sort of size posted. Over all it was a horrible customer service experience... management has zero clue what or how a fast dining experience should be. As a side note they recently upgraded the pos and need help adapting to the system. But none of our issues were related to that... it was a series of lost opportunities to show that anyone cared about what or how they should treat a guest along with old poorly packaged food that sat way to long. Incidentally there is zero reasons to have BAD French Fries with all the superior products available I will not be back!

They had two specials.... sausage peppers and onions and philly cheese steak. We ordered inside and they brought it outside to our tables. Everyone enjoyed their choices. My hamburger was fresh and cooked well....lettuce, tomato and pickles finished the perfect flavor profile. The fries were thin, hot and crispy. The onion rings were a standout, with a beautiful crunch maybe from cornmeal in the batter. They have several sauces for dipping. The ice cream treats were prepared beautifully and were delicious. My root beer float hit the spot, milkshakes were creamy and rich, the sundaes were packed full. Service was amazing. Everyone was smiling and friendly and helpful. Everyone, including the owner Seb, worked so hard to make sure we were happy with the food and everything else. Just a note....their credit card machine does not have a place to leave a tip(I was surprised) but I left them cash as they worked so hard and deserved it. .
