Simply the best! They took down a 120 ft tree and roots. A great job. My pavers in certain areas needed to be leveled. They showed up the following day and fixed the leveling. A few hours later I noticed water percolating under a paver. I called Downes and without me begging they sent someone to look and on Sunday a crew showed up and repaired it. In 50 years of dealing with tree contractors they were the nicest and quickest to resolve issues. Do not hesitate to hire them. BTW their prices are lower than other quotes I got. read more

I must say that Kevin was absolutely on top of his game when he quoted me and reassured me that my new driveway would be protected. His workers: Alex, Ed, Jose and Luis we're polite, efficient and very skilled. I would highly recommend them and this company! Bravo! read more

The only reason i'm giving 1 star is because i can't put 0. Don't be surprised if you hire them and someone has an accident in front of your house, as they let cars drive "slow" on both directions on one lane as they fully block the other one! Total insanity. Hire at your own risk, and have a good insurance! read more

Downes was quick to respond to my request for quote. Kevin came by to inspect my trees and provide an estimate for the different services we discussed. He was very knowledgeable about the different types of trees and their health. I quickly received the quotes back from him and moved forward to schedule service as the price seemed very reasonable. They got started the following week. The people that showed up to do the work were nice. We ran into one problem where the truck they brought was not long enough to reach one of the oak trees in my backyard so they could not complete the job that day. However, they did come back the following week as Kevin said they would and completed the job. We also had two stumps grinded and they showed up one week later to finish that. They did leave about an 8 inch deep impression in my back yard from one of the machines, but back filled that when they did the stump grinding. All-in-all i was very happy with the speed, quality, price and experience working with Downes and would used them again if needed. read more

had a huge tree removed in our backyard by Downs Tree Service. Tom and Victor and rest of the Crue are amazing. They came prior to removal date, made a path for their equipment on the side of our yard, which was overgrown and had an arbor. On the day of removal they protected the grass with plywood as much as possible and worked 9 hours to remove our gigantic Tulip tree. It was all done with the small equipment which fit to go on the narrow side of our yard. They also trimmed all dead and Brocken branches from the adjacent trees. After they left the yard was clean like nothing happened. Couple days later Tom showed up by the door and brought the staff to repair the fence which was disassembled before the job. They came and ground the stump and promised to come back and fill all the holes and reseed the grass which was damaged. The company is very professional, We would highly recommend them for any tree services. read more

Great company.... professional and knowledgeable. Kevin was very helpful and listened to my request to have more sunlight in my yard/pool. Sean was the lead arborist and it was obvious that he knew what could and could not be done. Saving trees and leaving them aesthetically pleasing was his goal. They also left the yard spotless; you'd never know they were there. Truly everyone was a pleasure to work with.... highly recommend! read more

I'm very impressed, great communication with Scott and his crew. I called last Thursday, got an onsite consultation and my quote via email the following day. The work started after the weekend on Monday and the 5 man crew was extremely professional. Last fall I had another tree service come to remove a dead tree, sadly they wouldn't budge on helping us out with this last "window-maker" limb. Now that spring is around the corner we found even more of our neighbors trees to be a problem. I had about 6 estimators come to my home but Scott was highly detailed in explaining what the problem, why it's important to my family and how they would address it. Gladly though, the 60 limb wasn't a problem for this crew. The crew worked safely (huge relief) and did a great job cleaning up the yard and even the curb before they left. Thumbs up in my book, I'd definitely recommend them and will post pics shortly. read more

the only reason I am giving one star is because in order to give u the following advice I had to pick a star .. these people are very unprofessional and rude , the workers as well as the phone operators. all they r doing is cutting down branches but they end up breaking stuff that they never plan on replacing and my property is not even the one being worked on . how horrible is that!? I suggest u don't WASTE your hard earned money on these inconsiderate jerks. all they care about is getting payed . they claim they want to accommodate everyone but it's all about what's in their pockets . don't waste your time ... ! aside from them saying that it will only take a couple of hours to finish the work . they started at 8 am and it's 230 and they r still not fuking done . bunch of losers these people are read more

I would give no stars to this company. I had not heard from this company in weeks after my estimate. I had another company come out and do the work that needed to be done. All of a sudden I had a bill in the mail for downes charging me for taking down limbs that I had already had taken down by another tree company( after the date of service by the other company). Downes will not admit to their mistake read more

My neighbor and I each had Downes remove some old trees in our yards. Each of the two crews each was professional in every sense of the work and their work was impeccable. They arrived on time (actually a bit early but did not bother us until the scheduled time) and worked constantly. They had heavy equipment for my neighbor's yard and (in tight quarters) has smaller equipment for ours. They cleaned up every bit of wood and anyone who wants excellent work at an debris. I am pleased to say they have our unqualified recommendation. Price was fair (and better than some others who do not do equally good work). read more

John S Lodi work very professionally done crew very professional clean up was exceptional no mess left . the man in the bucket truck knew exactly how to tie off and cut limbs so the fell exactly were he wanted them to fall. i was very impressed .i would recommend Downes tree service.THANK YOU to all read more

I would give Kevin and his business 6 stars if it existed. Downs Tree Service did some work on my property and there were some small problems. Not only did he correct the problems but he went WAY above and beyond what I expected to make everything right. The real sign of a business run well and that you would like to have a continuing relationship with is one that you are still happy with them when things don't go perfectly. I highly recommend! read more

This is a comment on their snow plowing, not on their tree service. I understand there alot of snow and the streets need to be plowed, but my husband and I were out shoveling the apron of the driveway , and Downe's came and deposited all the snow right where we just shoveled. It would have been impossible to miss us shoveling in our driveway. Very rude and unprofessional!!! read more

I have hired them in the past for tree removals and mulch... Perfect and always on time. I hired them to trim a tree (the bulk of it was on a neighbors side). The tree trimming went exactly as I wanted it. I also had them take 2 trees down by the pool. It was a tight squeeze but what a great job. The cleaned up my yard and the neighbors. One of the best companies I have dealt with - great job Downes read more

They removed a tree from my front lawn and ground the stump. They were very professional, and did a nice, neat job!

Excellent service, highly knowledgeable. I had work done in November 2019. Great results at a highly competitive price. Impressive all the way around. Highly recommended. read more

Great service! I highly recommend them. The estimate was comparable to others I got. The team of 4 worked hard for 5 hours doing everything in our estimate and more. There was no extra charge for additional trimming i spotted when they were here. All trees were well trimmed by men either climbing way up into the trees or from a bucket truck. Everything was impeccably cleaned up when they left. read more

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to this tree service! Mike came out quickly to give us a quote and although his was not the cheapest we decided to go with them because they seemed to be organized and know what they were doing (Good reviews on Angie's List helped too!). On the day of our tree removal the staff were amazing. They were professional and communicated with us during the entire process. They cleaned up after the work was done and were so caring towards our property, our trees, and our comfort during the day. I would recommend them to anyone who needs tree service. They are not the cheapest but they are not the most expensive (e.g., Barlett). In the end you get good service at a good price. read more

I contracted with Downes Tree Service to remove two 50 foot trees from my property in December of 2016. The estimator, Mike, was prompt, knowledgeable and prompt. The four employees who came to take my trees down were likewise prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. They cleaned up all the mess and left only the wood, chopped into firewood, my contract called for. I would recommend Downes Tree Service to anyone. read more

VERY professional and kept to their schedule and estimate. This company delivered everything on the estimate and beyond. They were here when scheduled, and did a complete job.I had two trees crowned and trimmed back, and this company delivered on time and on estimate.I asked to have larger branches stacked on the side so I could make firewood. Not only did they stack it neatly, but cut it to 18" logs so I could split it for burning.(Did not expect that)Also,I left some mulch in their way in the driveway and they spread it out over the landscape for me. Thanks Downes,I'll have you back in the spring for the pine tree. They also called me within a week to make sure the job was to my satisfaction, and it was!! read more

Best tree service around ! Very professional, efficient and safe ! I would recommend the company for everyone to use for tree servicing

We purchased about 100 yards of topsoil from Downes. It is FILLED with tiny gravel. Our grass is struggling to grow around all of the tiny gravel. After the first rainfall, the soil compacted down into a hard crust that repels water. Each load was delivered by a grumpy driver who was seemingly annoyed by the inconvenience of the order. Will never use again and would never recommend to anyone. What a complete waste of thousands of dollars. read more
