This dive bar in the West Village is tucked away underground, with a large but cozy vibe. There are plenty of TVs and when we went on a Monday night, they were playing both the football and baseball games. They have plenty of games and the volume is turned down so you can still have a conversation while watching tv. The drinks are very reasonably priced, especially for the west village, with beers, wines, and cocktails as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful when we left something behind and came to pick it up the next day!

You couldn't pay me to hate this place. Down the Hatch might be one of the last true dive bars where you can get a deal and come out on top. I used to frequent this place for happy hour when I worked in the area but hadn't been back in ages. I was recently here on a Saturday with a friend in town. We had over an hour to kill before our dinner reservation and wanted somewhere to pass the time that wouldn't break the bank. Down the Hatch was serving $5 cans on a Saturday, which even included an alcoholic seltzer, so we were in. $10ish bucks each later, we were feeling good and not poor, so it was a win. The place wasn't overly crowded despite this deal. Ambiance is a dive bar, but relatively clean and unrowdy. I hope this place never closes and continues to be a spot where you can hang out with friends without going broke on drinks.

These DRY hot wings... where's the SAUCE?!

Came back here for some wings. Cool bar, although it seems louder now, good service, but sadly the wings were a huge disappointment. At the start of the pandemic, there were still atomic wings. I'm sad to say that they no longer carry these and you can definitely taste the difference. I ordered the hot wings and at first glance they didn't look like they were coated with any sauce. Good hot wings have a decent ratio of saucy to crunchy. These wings were DRY. No sauce in the container to speak of and barely any on the chicken. Flavorless! I literally had to fix these with a bottle of Frank's red hot buffalo sauce. Considering that the price on a lot of things have gone up in this bar including the wings, I don't want to pay for something I'll have to fix when I get home. I'm glad I got to go there before congestion pricing kicked in because these wings are not worth the toll. I will stay my behind in Brooklyn.

I always love coming here! Wings are amazing. Great vibe. Even if you aren't college age still a great place to catch a game. Must go to everytime I visit! Was originally recommended 10 years ago by an NYPD officer when I asked where to go to watch the NBA playoffs.

I have been going to Down the Hatch and the other bars from the NYCBestBar group (Off the Wagon, 3 Sheets Saloon, Jake's Dilemma) for over 20 years but unfortunately they have changed for the worse. Down the Hatch, in particular isn't the same as it used to be. We used to go to these bars for the fun atmosphere and cheap drinks but prices have gone up considerably. In the past I would pay around $7 for a domestic pitcher during happy hour and around $13 during regular hours but right now it's $12 during happy hour and $22, yes $22 during regular hours for a Coors light pitcher. If you opt for Blue Moon or other imported beer it's more expensive. If you opt for a domestic pint during regular hours you'll pay almost the same you would pay at a bar in midtown. They no longer serve the famous Atomic Wings, instead they make it in house. It's tasty but not as tasty as the old Atomic Wings. On the plus side the music is still good, bartenders friendly and the vibe is nice, but I miss the old Down the Hatch!

This is a quintessential dive bar. It's hard to notice down some steps. The neighborhood is full of pretentious restaurants. This was a great find. We came on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy enough. Bottles and cans were only $5 which is a steal in NYC. We decided to go ahead and order a bit of food. We split a double cheeseburger with waffle fries. It was an amazing burger! Just what you would expect from a dive bar...flavorful, a little greasy, and a toasted bun. The waffle fries were also really good. You have to order everything at the bar which is a pain in the a$$. There was only one person working the bar when we were there and they were having a hard time keeping up. It's clearly a locals bar which is what we love! Also, if you're in the mood, they have beer pong set up and ready to go!

W 4th Street bar in NY Univ hood. Take a few steps down from street level to Down The Hatch and you got Drinks, TVs and Best drinks in West Village. Fully stocked bar and positive, high energy Keyla gets it all going for guests. The music is bumping funky and plenty of TVs for all sports activities.

This place is the perfect chill bar. Such a great vibe. The bartenders are cool and nice to talk to. The service is great. The food comes out fast and it's surprising delicious for a bar. The burger here has beat some burgers in restaurants and diners that I've tried. It's a very juicy double cheeseburger. They have a full bar but only American beers, no imports. They have beer pong set up in the rear and darts. Numerous tvs, each showing different sports. Festive lights flickering throughout with the feel of a dive bar. Happy Hour is Everyday until 7pm which is awesome and very rear. I highly recommend this spot. Just pop in and try it and I'm sure you will be a returning customer

Whether you're upstairs for the 3rd floor vibe, mid-level for the perfect sightline, or down in the cozy den with the best acoustics, this is New York sports bar energy: loud, a little brazen, impossibly welcoming. Her laugh is loud, her wink is devious, and she has a way of making first-timers feel like regulars by the second round.
