She has created a community of visitors to the area on 10's of acres of beautiful Damariscotta riverside accomodations which, ch are extremely cozy. If you are staying for a few nights or weeks, she has a family cottage, two apartments and several rooms in the main house which are appointed for ease and comfort. The price is very reasonable for the kind of access you get by staying just a short walk from the center of town and main street crosses the river with views of the harbor. The town of Damariscotta offers many dining, shopping and art establishments as well as a playhouse, movie theatre, library and parks. We stay here each year for at least one or two weeks and make it our base for our vacation. We come from San Jose Ca, to stay at Martha's and we love it! If you are housekeeping, the cottage, studio and RiverView appartments have all the accouterments for making a few meals, surfing the Internet or just reading on the porch. Each is outfitted with super comfortable couches, chairs and recliners. When the sun sets, reflections from the river glimmer and floods the abode with dancing light. We customarily do a seafood pasta while playing some italian opera or Andrea Bocelli on the iPod. Then we uncork a nice red and basque in the quietude of the evening. A series of serene and beautiful times to be had in this idyllic spot in Maine.

Front desk was not the friendliest and not helpful with some questions we had. Our arrival was at 9 pm, it felt more like we were arriving at 3 am with the limited service. Not what I was expecting for a 4 star property. At first we thought we made a mistake choosing this hotel. Following day was much better, however. Day time front desk was able to assist and service was like night and day....literally. The rooms are on the smaller size. We reserved the Large King, which I'm glad we did to have a little extra space. Bed is comfortable. Room has a desk and Nespresso machine. We unfortunately did not get to try the bar as it was closed during most of our stay, which was disappointing. We did get to enjoy Union restaurant and enjoyed some really good cocktails there. Able to bring them back to the lobby as well. I'm going with 4 stars due to location and our experience at Union restaurant and bar, but it's more of a 3.5 for me. If in the area again I might try another hotel. Try to arrive before evening for a better check in experience.

It is located near many cute stores, coffee shops and restaurants. My room was fine nothing special about it though it did have a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was very large and the shower head is an over head one. Which is also great. I was only here for a short time but I walked around and saw they have a very nice and good size gym and meeting rooms. The people I interacted with here were for the most part nice. I would stay here again.

There are not a lot of places to stay on Mohican Island. But one place that you should definitely…read morescope out is the island in. It has been around for many years. It did change ownership's this year, I met Mike the farmer owner and he was very gracious And I'm sure he ran a great in. The current owners are doing a magnificent job as well. I unfortunately do not know the name of the woman who works the front desk. I am sorry for that because I would like to give her a big shout out. She was most gracious and very helpful every time I had a question. We got two rooms. My friend stayed in room 18 which has its own bath and a queen size bed. It was lovely and it was on a corner so she had two windows. I stayed in room 13 it had two twin beds and a sink in the room but the shower and toilet were across the hall. I've stated other places where you have to share a bathroom and this end was different in that the Bathrooms were assigned and only two guest rooms shared each bathroom. My bathroom was never occupied. I'm not sure anybody was in the room that shared my bathroom but if they were, I never saw them. As you do have to walk across the hall to get to your shared bathroom, guest robes were provided. The bed was comfy. You could open the window and enjoy the island breeze. The room, both my guestroom and the bathroom were very clean. One thing that was surprising given the age of the building and that the hotel was pretty full was that it was quiet. I've never heard anyone outside my room or really any noise at all. There are several small rooms off the lobby, where you can sit and read or just enjoy an intimate conversation. All the furniture looked to be in good shape. Nothing was shabby or worn out. There is a porch out in front of the Inn that overlooks the water. It has rocking chairs on the porch and Adirondack chairs out in the yard. It is lovely. Unfortunately it was a rainy day. The first day we were there, but that didn't deter us from exploring the island. The hotel has a refrigerator where you can place your own bottle of wine or anything you need to put in there. But it is a bit tight so don't expect that you're going to put a lot of food in there. The Inn has a restaurant and I'm going to review that separately. Breakfast was included. I would definitely stay here again if overnighting on Mohegan Island..
