While he was doing a cleaning and maintenance check on my mother's furnace in her basement (which she cannot physically get to), he noticed her holding tank for her well had rusty weak spots and some leaking, and suggested we might want to have it looked at. Our furnace was failing and we made an Emergency call to Dowe and Wagner they came within an hour and got it to limp along until a new one was installed. New unit installed within 24 hours. Had an A/c issue - essentially it wasn't working at all. Called them and had an appt scheduled for the next day. Arrived earlier than planned (they did call). Tech found the issue quickly and repaired the a/c. He even cleaned the unit for us. I'd certainly use them again as I have previously. Hired a second Bryant authorized dealer. Took two trips but after resetting my gas pressure and adjusting the flanges my issue was resolved. Total charge was $99 - second trip was free because they didn't solve it the first time. Now that is what a fair run, reputable company does - bye bye Dowe & Wagner and to think the owner told me he should be raising his rates. read more

Twelve years ago Dowe installed a new furnace for us. Almost 10 years later it was malfunctioning. Two service calls later the tech tells me that when they originally installed the furnace they installed the venting improperly. After a lot of back and forth we ended up buying a new furnace for "cost" that was less than two years ago. December 23, 2019 our furnace kept shutting off so they came out, cleaned something and left. Said it was fixed. Charged us, even though we had an extended parts and labor warranty. Called about that and got it straightened out. But then the furnace continued to have the SAME problem. They were out here about 10 times total. The last time to fix the trap that they had installed backwards and made my furnace sound like a monster truck. Anyway, it's been crazy but finally all fixed. If we didn't purchase the extended warranty we wouldn't ever use them again. Beware. Side note, they were also very messy, even with tarps, and don't have the supplies to clean up after themselves. Had to vacuum each time they were here and clean my carpet. read more

Today 9/13/2021, I called them to make estimate to solve the insufficient air-cooling of our house. Their company is located 4 miles from our house and for their arrival and inspection within 15 minutes they asked for a payment of $ 165. We have a home that has a strange design requiring two furnaces, two air conditioners (one that's REALLY old) and a boiler, and Dowe and Wagner has taken great care of all of it. Our experience has been nothing but fantastic, and an experience we had today with one of the technicians going over and above to ensure our furnace was fixed and our thermostat was functioning correctly before he was leaving to go get married drove me to want to write about it. I'm a big fan of the technician we specifically had, but the whole staff who have also gone out of their way to make sure we're taken care of. read more

I called them about one week ago and they told me the soonest they could come out to clean & check our central a/c unit was this morning, between 8 and 10AM. I okayed that and this morning, got out the garden hose, hooked it all up and made plans to be home. At 8:26AM I received a phone call, informing me that they would not... be coming out today, as they'd gotten a call from a senior citizen with COPD and had to take care of her, instead. But, I could reschedule for a different day. Yeah, right. It just so happens that I, too, am a senior citizen (age 72) and am also a 100% disabled Vietnam vet. I refused to do any further business with them and won't bother with their services in the future. Check their reviews before you let them (supposedly) schedule you an appointment. Phooey! Bought a 5 ton Bryant air conditioner in the Spring. The installers blocker off our power humidifier with sheet metal. We had to purchase a new power humidifier this month and also get the sheet metal corrected. It cost us $879.00. Not happy with Dowe and Wagner. Will not hire them again. read more

last year my AC went out. A tech came out and told me well it could be several things the least of which would be expensive to fix but it was also going to be expensive to even try to even check what was wrong. Was more than willing to set up a call with a salesman to sell me a new unit though. I paid the service fee, which from what I recall was rather high. Today I had someone come out from another company he looked at, told me precisely what was wrong and gave me an estimate of ust over $200 TOTAL to fix it including service call. AC is working fine, my total bill was $180! Our family spent all of last summer sleeping downstairs on air mattresses because we couldn't afford what Dowe had told us. SO GLAD I found this other company. No more business with Dowe for me! read more

I urge you to exercise caution when working with Dowe and Wagner. Between the calling them to see where the person is who is scheduled to come only to find out they either cancelled my appointment (without letting me know) or forgot to let me know they are behind (and this happened at least 3 times) to trying to convince me a repair was going to be multi-thousands that ended up only being a couple of hundred. I could just be one of those "special" people that coincidentally everything wrong happens to in this case, but just be cautious. read more

Great Customer Service from the tech that I met with. However, their quote for repair was DOUBLE what we paid for the exact same repair with another company. They gouged us badly on their initial visit and diagnostic cost, but thank god we didn't go with them for the actual repair. Ridiculous pricing compared to others. read more

Horrible experience with these people. They do not seem to care about their customers' time at all. i had an appointment last Friday. A couple of hours after the time window, i called them and was told they were still coming. They never did. Rob was on duty and said he was on his way home and had just gotten the message and would for sure come out the following morning. I waited, and waited and waited. Then I called and a snippy man said there were 5 broken furnaces that had to come first. I certainly understand that, but I waited and waited more, and called and left a message that it was a week before Christmas and this was the 2nd whole day I was left waiting when I needed to get out and do things. The this Rob calls back and says he is coming for sure. He promised. I waited and waited and waited, and he never came or called. How disrespectful and dishonest. i asked him to call if he couldn't come. He didn't bother. I guess leaving a customer waiting and lying to them is no problem to Dow and Wagner. When making appt I was told it would be $122 to come out for 1/2 hr. When done, he also wanted $36 for each 15 mins of diagnostic time. Bad communication on their end so they dropped the diag charges. They also wanted $450 for a replacement part when Amazon charges $95 for new replacement part. How do they justify a 450% markup? They haven't changed. We used them five years ago and it was great. Price was fair, tech was smart, honest etc... So I ignored the other reviews. They charged an INSANE amount of money, the Tech totally milked the time and then shortly after he left the AC was turning on and off constantly. Called the office the next day to complain and never received a call back. Will never use again. We swear tech fk'd up the furnace... hasn't ran right since he left. read more

Too bad there isn't a system for no stars at all. The story is long, but in the end, they replaced a part that was verified by two additional shops wasn't broken and charged me about a thousand dollars for a two hundred dollar repair. After all this, I was promised they would replace the actual broken part as part of their customer satisfaction guarantee, but they seemed to vanish and stopped returning phone calls. Dont even what to give them one star. They installed to furnaces ,air cond and two humidifiers in my new dream home that we just purchased two months before they ruined it. 1600,00 it cost us. Now another 13000,00 in water damage that they say is a manufactory defect. They installed it and we were told by them they have insurance and would pay for the three floods and damage to carpet, walls, trim and two door etc. Now they have coward out and expects us (the customer to go after the maker of the unit) NO you bought it from them and installed it.. It is up to you to get your money back from them.. contacted a lawyer and are taking both companies to court. Someone has to pay for the damaged they did to my new home. We have used this company for over twenty years .. But they have become rip offs. BEWARE before you have work done get it in writing if there is a defect in any unit or part will they cover all damage.. Even if they say they warranty there work.. Thats not good enough. They will say it wasnt due to their workmanship and will leave you holding the ball and a ruined carpet, walls, doors , trim, grout whatever the water or fire destroyed. Wise choice would be to find another company. I replaced my furnace and ac unit about 3 years ago. They were very nice through sales process and once I committed it was all downhill from there. After installation I began having HUGE condensation issues while running AC. They came out messed around and took no responsibility, NONE despite the fact I had about $5000.00 worth of drywall needing replacement. It happened again the next summer and had major mold due to condensation and sure enough they had twice the charge of freon and yet still NO acceptance of responsibility. They have also had to change motherboardn3 times, at their expense, because of poor plumbing they hooked up. I am again having problems and D&W sent a guy out to evaluate (for a mere $189.00) only to be told I was just out of warrantee and all the duct work needed to be re-done. What they didn't tell me was they used inferior duct material the first time nor and most importantly they did not "advise" me I needed a chimney liner. I could go on but needless to say I would keep looking for someone else. read more
