I love this little store! The other day I had wall sconces on my mind but, as usual, when you're…read moreactually looking for something, it can be rather hard to find. I wanted sconces that would hold taper candles, not the electric sort that leave you having to hide the trailing cord. So I decide to run to Sweet Magnolia to replace a candle that had recently burnt out completely when, lo and behold!, there is the most gorgeous pair of gold-leafed wall sconces hanging right before my eyes! This is why I love Sweet Magnolia - you can find such elegant pieces here when you least expect it. I also appreciate that their prices don't put a huge dent in your wallet. $58 for the pair? I'll take them! The store also carries the greatest soy candles ever by Aquiesse which last a rather long time and come in several delightful fragrances. They also carry an array of other home goods - Forte teas, place settings, bath and body products, stationery, baby gifts, and jewelry. Definitely a great little shop for finding last minute gifts or a treat for yourself. I've seen similar items at other stores like Anthropologie for twice the price, so why not patronize a local entrepreneur instead?

Whenever I need a little gift for someone (or myself) I know I can find it! To top it off she's really friendly, and always up for a chat. It is really nice to be able to shop local and we are lucky we have a boutique like Sweet Magnolia in the neighborhood.

I read somewhere, Honest. HA! ALWAYS read the negative reviews, first!…read moreI THOUGHT they were nice, (her son was great) because of what she volunteered to do for me, until I was told from Barbara that her NY connection put a battery in my watch, (that is all I wanted, a battery replacement in my Swiss Army watch, apparently has a special back that they were not equipped to remove) and it failed to operate. I didn't believe it, because I had the battery replaced once every 18 - 24 months for the last 15 years or so. I take good care of my good things. So I asked her if he tried another battery! Seriously! I know my face dial was off a bit, that did not bother me but it did bother her NY connection. It was not perfectly centered after 15 - 20 years, so what? They wanted $150.00 to do an overhaul, I'll call it. The argument between Barbara and I was that the watch would have worked if they did all I wanted them to do, put a friggin battery in the watch so it would operate. But no, she blatantly lied to me (good business practice) telling me the watch needed to be "fixed" to the tune of $150.00. Sure, her NY connection would have re-centered the dial, (nothing wrong with the crystal), put a battery in, and who knows what else for $150.00. I told her I would return once I found somebody else to put a battery in it to prove to her it was a working functioning watch. (And I did, Caparo Jewelers to the tune of $16.90). While I was there to pick up my non repaired watch, I reached into my pocket to show her another Swiss Army Watch that needed a battery. She just about threw me out of her store, albeit politely. I won't bother going back in. I have a lot of money to spend on fine jewelry, I'm glad she doesn't need my thousands of dollars that I will be spending elsewhere. I needed another Jeweler after Karcher in Whitemarsh, closed his shop.

Wow, does this guy make stunning jewelry!…read more I stumbled across this place when my Mother got a gift certificate here for her retirement. So, she asked me to go with to help her pick out a little something for herself. When we arrived, we were greeted by the super polite and un-snotty staff. When we started oohing and ahhing at everything in the place- the ladies asked us to let them know if we wanted to look at anything. So we asked them to break out practically every velvet tray in the place. And, as they educated us on different gems and metals, they explained that everything could be sized. It was then that I saw one of the rings smile at me. It was gorgeous--Ruby and Platinum, like nothing I had ever seen. (My birthstone is Ruby and I have always admired them- but they always seem to be set in cheesy yellow gold at Zales and such) not this one. So anyway, flash-forward.... my Mom leaves with a beautiful engraved gold ring, and I leave dreaming about the ruby ring that I had just seen. Flash forward one month later... 2 days before my 40th Birthday, a week and a day after our four year wedding anniversary, and last but not least... a week after giving birth to our first child... I get the surprise of my life-- a little green box with the ring inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky, lucky me.
