I could have sworn I already wrote a review for this but alas, I guess not…read more I've been here a few times for fun and a few times for different book events. I will say that most of the staff is very nice and helpful! Usually all the time I come in and they're very chatty and friendly. The first book event I went to was a little disorganized. I think they need like signs or something to say, "check in at the register first". I think the staff was maybe confused and a little hesitant or shy to speak up which made navigating the event a bit frustrating. The second one I went to was better but was more or less because I knew the drill. Otherwise on a regular day it is always very clean and organized, they do have a small kids section which is nice. This location is small. There is minimal seating and I'll still go to the one in Montgomeryville to meet friends and have coffee. The rumor was they weren't having a cafe because Whole Foods was - but Whole Foods doesn't. It's small and tight and definitely more maze like to fit everything in. But they always have nice displays and it's usually pretty easy to find what you're looking for. The proximity to my house is the biggest convenience as before the only options were willow grove or Montgomeryville which also both are pretty traffic-y areas. I will also say , it's weird that the sign doesn't light at night. It looks like it's closed when it isn't.

Ok, ok. I may be biased in my 5-star rating because I work at The Andalusia Bookman shop, but trust…read moreme, I'm not. I simply love great rare books, collections of ephemera, and places that make you feel at home -- you get all this and more, here. Walk-ins aren't welcome just yet, so please call for an appointment, but once you visit it may become a routine like it has for so many others.. At the shop you'll find: over 60,000 items, specializing in 19th and 18th c. illustrated books, chromolithos, Philadelphiana, rare anthropology, early hermeneutics, Natural history, first editions, signed items, Beat lit, '60's material, unusual occult, erotica and esoterica. We have a vast collection of ephemera, art work (steel engravings, pouchoir, collotype), movie posters (of the 1940's - 50's) and a mass of important 19th c. bound periodicals (Oology to Archeology, Mathematics, Botany, Knitting), and 20th c. Art journals, Italian Fascist publications, etc., culled from Walter J. Johnson's liquidation, as well as a collection rare jazz records. And much more, just ask. Dave has been in business for twenty-five years in the incarnations of David L. Miller Rare Books, The Book Merchants, the Philadelphia's Riverside Book Fair and 30th Street Station Book Fair. In 1991 we purchased the business, name and stock of Samuel Kleinman's legendary Schuylkill Book and Curio Shop of 4207 Lancaster Ave., Phila. PA. Thanks for reading, and give us a call to check out the shop!

My wife is a bookstore snob and has to visit one whenever we travel. She loves the locally owned…read morebookshops and always supports them. Some are better than others but this one was worth the visit. My wife is an avid reader and her face is constantly in a book. We found this bookshop in the heart of downtown Doylestown and had to visit. This is a locally owned bookshop, large in size, and with a great selection of everything, including small gifts. Each section is largely displayed so you can find your poison. I bought several boxes of Christmas cards that were 50 % off while my wife bought several paperbacks. We learned they have authors that come visit and other events, like Blind Date with a Book. A nice vibe with pleasant staff. There is ample street parking but public lots in the area.

We were doing some shopping in Doylestown this past Saturday, and Doylestown Bookshop was one of…read morethe many surprises among the shops we visited. For modern bookstores (in our post-Amazon world), it's an enormous independent bookstore: well-stocked, expansive, well laid out (not crowded). I loved their huge Staff Picks section - their many staff members suggested books than run the gamut from YA to romance to literary fiction. They also had an area of goods and tchotchkes, making it a great shop for buying gifts. If you need a book (or want a book - since you can never have too many?) and are in the area, I highly recommend Doylestown Bookshop for a browse.

But it was 3 o clock, and I was on a mission--to avoid super-turnpike traffic and to purchase a book. Well, I bought three. The County Bookshop is up a few brick steps on the right side of the street. Saw the name; had to go. Used and out-of-print books. I broke into a smile. An old home converted into this bookshop, it is a fitting dressed-down arrangement. Entering, there are rooms to the left and right. At the right rest philosophy books, and near the register first-edition copies of books. One I saw was a C.S.Lewis story. These books are not in the most beautiful condition, and many seem to have been gifts with cursive notes scrawled in the covers. But these little rooms are not all! Browsers can wander further to another room, and another after that. Each section is distinctly labeled. Signs even direct you to poetry and literature. There is everything from philosophy to travel to gardening and food to French lit and surely beyond. The best is yet to come. Outside sits a rack of books for 35 cents. Inside, there is another near the cashier, where each book is 50 cents. The gentleman, presumably the owner, was soft-spoken and had no idea what to say other than Thanks when receiving praise for the store. Perhaps he isn't used to it, since apparently there are other book stores in the very near vicinity. Buck County Bookshop is what I saw first, and walking out with Philosophy of Science ($7.95) Intro to Mathematical Philosophy ($10) and World Orders Old and New ($7.50) I was pleased with myself. I bet the other stores didn't have these books!
