So many peppers
Mike H.

I had a lovely experience at Primex, save for a few minor issues, all of which I feel are not in the control of Primex, but you should be aware of. Let's get the negative out of the way first because they're minor issues which, again, I feel is not in their control: space. The parking situation especially during busy spring weekends is rough. People are double parking, people are crowding the nearby residential streets, and in some cases you just can't find anywhere to park. So be prepared to circle if you go during a super peak time. And be careful because people are wandering about along the car paths just trying to get places. But if you go on a weekday, or later in the afternoon on a weekend during planting season, you should be fine. But, the reason it's so packed there leads me to the positives, the overwhelming positives! Primex is without a doubt the best garden center I have found anywhere in the greater Philadelphia area. And I have been to quite a few since I was a child. The selection is astounding, the grounds are sprawling (but still packed to the brim with stuff). There's multiple sections: an indoor supply store, outdoor greenhouse, a barn, an outdoor supply section to get your dirt and mulch etc. They supply you with all the good stuff too. I was happy they had Fox Farm brand soil there - they know their stuff. Their prices are acceptable too. It's not cheap like if you went to a big box store or a chain. You're going to pay a few bucks more. However, their prices still come in under some other local Philly small business garden centers. And with the selection and army of employees Primex has, that's a big win in my book. I walked out with so many veggie plants, herbs and a raspberry bush, and I was only expecting to plant a few things this year. Oh well, worth it!

Had the pleasure of visiting one of the most amazing gardening centers in the world. The staff was pleasant and helpful. So many plants to choose from. Outdoor, indoor, perennials, annuals, vegetation, shrubs, ground cover, mulch, etc. Even gardening puzzles...just heaven on earth.

First time going here and i was in awe of all the lovely plants. A lot of unique / rare specimen you wouldn't typically see at other places. I'm not sure why people said unfriendly staff because that was not my experience at all they were extremely nice & helpful.

Customer service is horrific. Low eye contact. Very unkind, unprofessional -- if you are not a blue eyed blonde.

Ask the Community - Primex Garden Center

Can anyone recommend a company that will plant a maple tree in my front lawn (Abington)? Thank you.

If you purchased from Primex, they have a list of contractors who will do planting work, so I'd suggest asking someone at the store or calling.

I rolled out of there, swung by the warehouse to get some mulch and my rain barrel, and came home feeling like I'd hit the jackpot.

Birthday Flowers in the Age of COVID-19 -…read more Somethings in life must be celebrated on time regardless of surrounding risks. So it was that a bouquet of fresh cut flowers were required to honor my wife's birthday in the middle of a quarantine stay at home order. Roses didn't feel spontaneous enough, nor as crazy ebullient as the moment needed. No, the creative hand of a true florist and flora lover was the way to go. I used the third party online vendor I had worked with before, but to my good fortune they subbed out to Penny's in Glenside for execution. They were on time and on my wavelength. We left the package on the porch for a day out of an abundance of caution to allow any Covid cooties to be rendered inert. When we brought it inside to the kitchen, and unbound its wrapping, we beheld a riot of daisies, sunflowers, zinnias, red carnations, a few gorgeous coral roses and dried sinuatum. They were soft to touch and scented like the dawn of Spring. Most importantly, they generated the emotional response I was hoping for from the object of my affections. She kvelled like a purring kitten, and treated me like I was the celebrant, not her. Just as it should be. Penny's had it exactly right. I now have a new florist.

They delivered several exceptional floral arrangements for my Pastor's home going service. They…read morewere vibrant in color and thriving in freshness. Heirloom is a small, eclectic mix of the shop's own line of porcelain tableware, antique and vintage finds, and other treasures. Their porcelain products really caught my eye as they have and entire line of pieces modeled off of berry and peach baskets. I picked up a set of small cups that resemble the little peat pots one would use for seed planting - perfect for little succulent gardens! I also nabbed a glass cloche for my indoor terrariums. They are stocked with the sweetest tea towels, soaps, seed packets, and journals made from re-purposed book covers. You'll also find refinished furniture pieces and other odds and ends for your home.
