We have a new (to us) pool that we needed to get clean and ready use. We stopped by on a Sat afternoon to try to get some help and learn what we needed to do. The store was very busy and the customer service person really didn't seem to want to listen to what we had to say we wanted (which was not just chemicals, but information). Despite the fact that we made very clear that we were new to pool ownership, there was no attempt to educate a new pool owner. I even asked if they had a book or something we could buy, so that we could learn about what we were to do, but no, she just grabbed two bags of shock, a bottle of algicide, and gave us instructions to use them and come back with a water sample. She wasn't rude, exactly, but she definitely didn't want to spend one more minute on us than necessary. I would have told her, if given a chance, that I live 45 minutes away (and yes, it is the closest pool store to me), so running back and forth with water samples and the next set of instructions wasn't really practical. I would certainly have bought a water test kit there, too. Instead, I've ordered a good test kit from Amazon (Taylor K2006) and found my information on the internet. From now on, I'll just get my chemicals at Walmart or Lowe's, since I clearly won't get any help at Dover Pools. read more

Great Experience! I do not live in Salisbury anymore but travel through the area for work sometimes. When I did live in the area I used Dover Pools to buy a pool and my spa supplies. They were always pleasant and had a good selection. Today I happened to be in the area with a spa pump that was leaking. I tried taking it to the Sundance dealer in Edgewater and they were not pleasant. I also contacted a Spa repair dealer that I've used before in Cape St Claire and they did not return my calls or emails. Guess they were too busy for repeat customers. I decided to see if Dover Pools could help and the guy could not have been any nicer and accommodating. He took apart my pump and put a new seal in it. It was not the seal for that pump but it looked like it would work so I told him to install it. He only charged $13 for the seal and not for service. I wouldn't have complained if they did put a service charge on it. Much to my surprise I got it home and the repair worked. Thank you for your help and service! It was much appreciated. I'll use them when I'm in the area for supplies. read more

Drained neighbors pool into my yard, even after I told them not to. Stuck hose through the fence. I was standing in ankle high water when I told him to stop and his reply was "we do this every year". Right where my private well is and my shed. I was leaving for an appointment and saw water flowing in front of my shed. Called service manager (Ashley) who was very rude and lied about pool owner starting the drain before they got there and then told them to continue. Told me they do what the paying customer tells them to do. Went to neighbor when returning home later in the afternoon and she told me that is not true and she was not aware of their even being an issue until they told her when leaving. Would have been just as easy for them to drain pool in the owners side yard. You would think after being told to stop draining pool water into my yard that they would have stopped but no they did not. Dishonest company. read more

i stopped by to try to get a part I needed for my filter. They did not have the component I needed but offered to order it for me. I was in a rush so I just bought the larger assembly that had the part I needed. I felt they were very pleasant to deal with. I would have left 5 stars if they had the piece i needed in stock. read more

Staff gave us run around last two summers over chemicals. Half the time the help has to go get help bc they don't know what they're doing. Even our install of the pool was not easy. We've spent THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS with this company. The only good thing I'd say is the free water check but we get sold chemicals that don't clear up the problems we've had the last two seasons. We purchased our pool from them in 2010. I'm desperate to find some place else to buy chemicals! read more

Purchase went well, Install was an unpleasant process. We purchased and payed in full a 24'' above ground pool on April 18th. Coordinating the contractors' schedules of when they would "be in the area" with the weather was the first difficulty we ran into. They delivered the boxes and the boxes sat out in the weather (including rain) for approx 2 months. We attempted to schedule approx 8 times. During 1 of the scheduled times, the contractors' truck "broke down" but we never received a phone call. The second major difficulty was that the water truck "could not make it down our drive-way and did not have a hose long enough to reach the pool." We had to use our personal water hose to fill approx 14,000 gallons of water into our pool. Our water had to sit stagnant until they could send someone out to cut for the skimmer. Then we were instructed to bring a water sample to Dover Pools so they can tell us what chemicals we needed to put into the pool. It is now June 19h, the weather is the 90's with a heat index feel of 100 degrees and the pool is filled, but no chemicals. I just went out to the store and bought my own chemicals and will test and adjust the water myself. read more
