This is the best place to go to in the entire state of New Jersey. That's right, the entire state. The food is excellent. Their burgers and hot dogs are heavenly and their cheese fries are delicious. I enjoy eating outside on the picnic tables they have when the weather cooperates. I literally live a half block away from Dover Grill and it's my go to place during the Spring/Summer months. Pro Tip: The best time to go is when it opens because the place gets crowded quick. People from all over go there because the food is that good! read more

Gave this place a try since I was told it's a landmark in the area. They were busy at lunch. Inside I was able to get a barstool to sit by the window (no indoor tables). Tried the "Original Burger" & "Hot Dog Texas Style" and fries. I thought the burger was very good, chili dog was just OK and fries were great. They were crinkle cut & had a great texture to them. They have a wide variety of hot dogs and they are good. My only complaint is they are quite salty, so if you have high blood pressure, this is not the place for you. After you have a hot dog, hamburger or whatever, you can go next door and have ice cream. I'm in heaven! I visited the Dove Grill twice in the last week after seeing these guys listed in the top 25 hot dog places of NJ (Courier newspaper). I have to say, I'm impressed. Ordered a chili-cheese dog with small fries and a black cherry soda the first time. The hot dog was excellent, the bun was toasted and the crinkle fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The second time I visited, I ordered their mini-burgers. Wow! These were really excellent and the fries were as fresh as ever. Another reviewer said these mini-burgers were like an upgraded White-Castle burger and I think that's a very accurate description. They're not going to break any speed records for prepping the food, but everything is made to order and very fresh. The interior is very clean (this matters to me). There is a limited counter seating available inside and outside seating is available (picnic tables with umbrellas). Prices are very fair and I would rate the food value as very good/excellent. Overall, this is an excellent place and worth going to if you're in the area or even traveling to (if you're not local). read more

Really enjoyed the old time feel of the place and the food. My favorite was probably the cheese curds, cheese steak, and Chicago dog. All were well cooked and the cheese curds were basically cheesier mozzarella sticks. Next time I will get the buffalo wings. read more

Although I live very close I've avoided going here and when craving a Texas wiener would travel to Clifton, NJ for Hot Grill. However, decided it was time to support a local business and I am really glad I did. DELICIOUS hot dogs with chili sauce, onions and mustard. The french fries really impressed me, I asked if they were cut fresh because they were so good, sadly they are not, but it didn't matter, they were perfect. I have no words for this place besides.. AMAZING! It's a family owned, divey kind of spot that gets super packed every summer. It's grilling up all of your American favorites such as hot dogs, burgers, cheesesteaks and fries. DELICIOUS! It's pretty bittersweet to me that they are only open during the summer. I get bummed out when I have a craving for it in December but it tastes that much better when I get to have it again come June. Horrible!!! My experience at Dover Grill was disappointing. I ordered over the phone and was greeting poorly and got an attitude. I walk in and again, wasn't greeted, not even a smile. They have kids working who don't now how to handle people and don't know what's going on. I ordered buffalo wings with Mac and cheese bits. I got home to see the wings looked like they were 3 months old and they tasted the same. My friends say the food is great but do not order the wings, they're awful and disgusting. The mac and cheese bites were soggy and greasey. I have nothing positive to say about my trip at Dover Grill. read more

Dover Grill is totally a local legend. Any time it opens at the end of Winter/early Spring, it's packed for weeks. Krinkle cut fries, soft bread for their delicious cheesesteaks, juicy burgers, and birch beer make it one my favorite grills around. They cover their fries with cheese which is another plus. Even on its busiest days the service is still pretty darn quick. And the price is still on the cheap side. No $10 cheesesteak here. read more

Their deluxe burgers are great, and so are their hot dogs with pineapple. I know it sounds odd, I was skeptical at first but they really taste good. This is a great little burger joint to enjoy on a summer night. It is located right next to Dover dairy maid which is another little gem. Everything from their double bacon cheeseburger to their Texas dog is fantastic. The staff is friendly and mostly helpful and food generally comes out in a timely fashion.
