We never felt judged about any decisions we made for our birth plan, and if we had questions about anything, she would answer thoroughly and provide us with evidence based information. During labor, we called her when we felt it was most needed. Sheryll showed up at the most perfect time and quickly sprung into action. She reminded me of breathing techniques, took video and photos, got me into various laboring positions, and so much more. She supported this first time mama and dad, wonderfully. We feel tremendously grateful for her and all her contributions. So much that we asked if we could continue to work with her into postpartum as we needed the help at night. Breastfeeding was quite hard for me, but Sheryll reassured me and reminded me to give myself grace, and helped me to continue breastfeeding. Having her here allowed my husband to get more sleep at night, so that in the morning he can take over while I got extra hours of sleep. Two months before the due date, we had a video call to discuss the services, timeline and availability. Sheryll shared a detailed Sibling Doula Support Contract and walked us through her past experiences as a sibling doula. Next we scheduled a "nursery visit" two weeks before the due date for Sheryll to meet our son. First they played with blocks and joked about colors and shapes, and then they ran off to our son's room to read books. Sheryll's attentive and silly style had my son laughing and giggling nonstop. On the afternoon of delivery day, I picked up my son from preschool and met Sherryl at our home. On the first night, Sheryll read book after book, acting out dozens of books and somehow never running out of energy. One morning we were waiting for her to show up to watch our son and she didn't, every text we sent was ignored. Mind you this was halfway through the time she was committed to helping us out. We were so confused as to why she would treat us this way, then we found out that my wife's Chanel bracelet was stolen and replaced with a knockoff. There are only two people who have had access to our bedroom without us being there and the other person did not steal it. My wife went to Chanel and they confirmed it was not the same bracelet. The charms were completely missing, the band itself was a fake replica, and it was missing an entire section. When we texted her to ask her about this, yet again, no response. I contacted the company she associated with, Golden Gate Doulas, and they said they fired her over a year ago because she has a history of taking peoples moneys and not showing up for services. Our baby is now two years old but I'd like to post a review to spare others the experience of working with Sheryll as a birth doula. the most troubling things for my husband and I in working with Sheryll were that she wasn't there for the most difficult part of my labor when I could have used help with pain management and then she posted a photo of my birth to her doula accounts without my consent and with false details about how she "helped" us. she also added to my stress in the delivery room once she did arrive by discussing the other births on the monitor for the doctors to see, something I should not have been concerned with. the only services she provided was a light projection and telling us what song was playing when our designer was born. it's also weird to me that she makes it mandatory to do a placenta print. i think she just wants the placenta for her own use which is shady. Luckily we got our money back because she clearly broke the doula group's social media policy but I'm still scarred from the horrible experience and will be much more vigilant with our next child when choosing a birth doula. The other one star review is so spot on I wish I read it before hiring Sheryll. Sheryll was alright at best and terrible at worst. Pre labor she was alright, during labor she looked so annoyed being in the delivery room with me, and for the 2.5 months we worked with her postpartum she was alright. I just always felt like we annoyed her, she always seemed to want to be anywhere but here. I always had some postpartum blues and as a new mom I had questions about my son and anytime I'd ask her, she acted like I was stupid for even asking the question. So eventually I stopped asking her these questions, but really questioning myself and why we were spending $5,000 for not the best support. Fast forward 5 months later, and we were in a bind and had asked her to help watch our son once a week just for a couple of months until I was able to make it work with my work schedule. We just needed her once a week for a total of 8 times. Last Friday she was supposed to come and she didn't show up. I texted her twice, have called her, she has yet to respond. She not only ghosted us, but left us scrambling in the beginning of the work day as we had to juggle our schedules around to watch our son. We only needed her to watch him a few more times and she didn't have the decency to tell us she was no longer able to or wanted to watch him. Mind you nothing prior to this indicated to us she was unhappy or no longer wanted to help us, and if that was even the case, she could have just told us she no longer can help us out. Incredibly unprofessional, especially for the prices she charges. You can find much better doulas and ones who actually care about you and your family. read more

On the big day Sheryll came to our home, holding space and supporting me for a day and night of laboring at home. I cannot emphasize how grateful I am to my doula Sheryll. When my husband first suggested hiring a doula, I was a bit apprehensive. I originally only wanted my husband in the delivery room and due to family dynamics, I did not think I wanted or needed support from another woman. My husband suggested hiring a doula to help me with birth anxiety and after reaching out to friends who had a doula during their births, I was more open but still felt uneasy. When we interviewed Sheryll, I felt like I knew her, and she understood my concerns with having another woman present during the birth. Sheryll made me feel at ease and leading up to my son's birth she kept in contact with me and suggesting things to make me comfortable since my son refused to come on his own and I had to be induced. When she met with us, she showed my husband ways to help me during labor, including positions and pressure points to help me with contractions. I can honestly say that we used every one of her suggestions and that is how I was able to get through the first round of Pitocin. The day of my induction Sheryll was with us via text and was a phone call away. She was a great collaborator assuring us of our choices and never dismissive which was one of my biggest fears with sharing my birth with another person. My labor was very long and when Sheryll came to the hospital she gave my husband a much needed break and helped me get through a second round of Pitocin which I would not have been able to do without her. She kept me calm and focused and reminded me that I was about to meet my son for the first time, which helped me focus. She was wonderful whenever we had to make a decision, she never pushed her opinions but rather reassured us that we as the parents, and especially me as the person giving birth decided what was best for me and my baby. When my son finally arrived she captured so many beautiful moments and I am so glad she was there as my husband and I were too busy admiring our son. I have jokingly told Sheryll and my husband that I refuse to give birth without her and if we have another child we will hire her in a heartbeat. Sheryll is also very knowledgeable in breastfeeding. I took the breastfeeding classes offered at my hospital; however, they were very broad, Sheryll helped me with specific issues in my breastfeeding journey. I have now breastfed for 15 months, and I owe a big part of that to Sheryll. Do not hire Sheryll as your doula if you are truly looking for a professional and someone who will support you. Sheryll took days to reply to me, was not available nor checking on me even on my estimated due date, would disappear constantly and would have a multitude of excuses. She stopped replying to me weeks postpartum, will not return texts, phone calls, or even a simple request to get a receipt for my FSA account. She made my birth a stressful experience for both me and my husband. The nurses also questioned her as a doula as she suggested nothing during my traumatic birth and sat there looking annoyed that she even had to be there. I found out she is not DONA certified and has been lying on her website. She also no longer works for golden gate doulas over similar unprofessional behavior. After asking around the doula community I have heard horror stories of her not coming to births and even taking a woman's placenta for encapsulation and disappearing with her money. I hope the word gets out that this lady is a heartless scam artist who preys on one of the most vulnerable times in a woman's life, shame on her. read more

This review is long overdue, our son is now 3 months and it's thanks to Sheryll I was able to truly have a birth of my dreams after a terrible experience with a prior doula with my daughter. Sheryll was recommended by Mari and they both worked together to give me the best birth experience. We called Sheryll at 3am and she immediately came to our home coached myself and my husband through it, we labored at home until we were ready to go to the hospital. I was 6 centimeters by then, thanks to Sheryl's experience putting me in different positions and keeping me hydrated. She asked the right questions, kept cool, confident and such a ray of positivity to be around during labor. Once at hospital it was game time, she got the room ready, kept me moving, kept me hydrated, was super professional with nurses (she had a cool light gadget all the nurses came to see it and said they wished they were in our room) she had a diffuser going, music, you name it! And all while keeping us calm, moving and remaining positive throughout. I honestly couldn't have don't it without her - my husband said the same!
