Baby Camille delivered with the support of Jen! :)

Where do I even start?! Jen is simply FANTASTIC. She was our Doula, for the birth of our first child and I just can't say enough good things about her! She is incredibly supportive, always goes the extra mile to make sure that you're comfortable making a good decision (and have all of the information that you need), and makes time to check in and see how things are going. I felt immediately comfortable with her and I'm just so thankful to have found such a genuinely caring person to support me through this experience! Beyond her wonderful personality and approach Jen is also just incredibly on top of things and professional. She always responded very quickly to us, made time for phone calls when we had concerns, and had checklists and info at the ready for us. Her breadth of knowledge between is simply incredible too! She's attended so many births and also has the benefit of her Midwifery training. When it came time to meet our little girl Jen was a total trooper! She was just coming off being up all night with another woman and didn't miss a beat. She was incredibly supportive during our labor and spent the night with us in the hospital. She has continued to support us through the first days of recovery and figuring out breast feeding. If you are lucky enough to contact Jen when she's available you simply could not be in better hands. We will always be grateful to her for her support, and the role she played in bringing our daughter into the world!

She brought such a calm and positive energy into our home, and her flexibility and attentiveness made a world of difference for us. I especially appreciated how responsive she was--always replying to my texts quickly and with care. While Stork and Sprout does have some excellent doulas on its team who provided great support and coaching, my experience with the agency's leadership was overwhelmingly negative. We had a particularly difficult time with Brittany. She demonstrated a pattern of manipulation, gaslighting, and lying, both to us and, from what I understand, to her own employees. Our contract promised consistent coverage, but the scheduling was erratic and communication was poor. We were left to wonder many nights if we would have support, and for several weeks, we only received 1 to 2 days of support instead of the 6 to 7 we paid for. When we requested a refund for the services not provided, Brittany refused and even fought our bank with out-of-context emails and more lies. She claims she "offered a refund" but is even today refusing to honor it as she says in the response. The lack of professionalism extended to some of the staff as well; one sick doula was sent to our home and intentionally caused our newborn physical pain. Brittany treated us like we were the difficult ones and responded with empathy-less chatGPT emails to manage the situation. We were also led to believe we would have one primary doula with a backup, but over the course of our service, we had seven different doulas come to our home. This complete lack of continuity made an already difficult period even more stressful. Based on my experience, I would advise new parents to skip Stork and Sprout and work directly with an independent doula. You will not only save the 30-40% extra fee the agency charges for scheduling, but you will also avoid the toxic and difficult management. This experience is unacceptable for a service that costs tens of thousands of dollars and demands payment upfront months ahead of providing the service. We were not able to switch easily due to the inflexible Carrot reimbursement process through the employer.

I was so nervous going into my second pregnancy because I had such horrible postpartum with my first, but was made aware that encapsulating my placenta could provide multiple benefits. I am absolutely shocked at how well I felt and continue to feel taking the capsules. No baby blues, my mood has boosted, more energy, and have even noticed an increase in breast milk. My package included my capsules and a complimentary picture of my placenta, my babies cord keepsake, and a blood print of my placenta and I couldn't be happier. Tomi, thank you so much!

She was our first and I was set on an unmedicated vaginal birth, however, our little one was breach and I was experiencing preeclampsia and needed to make a lot of decisions quickly. Alicia was a fountain of resources as we tried to find the best and safest way to birth our daughter. Even though I ended up with a cesarean I am confident and content because I was a fully informed and active participant. I would have never been able to navigate the birthing process with so much self-advocacy without Alicia. She provided evidence-based research, a kind and warm demeanor and so many intangible benefits. The classes, the home visits, the whole process made us feel cared for and I am so grateful to have had her as a guide. I would recommend her 1000% and if we hadn't moved away from the Bay Area I would have loved to have her at any future birth we may be fortunate enough to have.

Alicia herself is wonderful, and we used her for placenta encapsulation in 2019. We had an overall good experience, so as we are nearing the birth of our 3rd baby, I reached back out to Alicia as a return client looking for placenta encapsulation again. It took 4 days to get an initial response to my email. Julia (Alicia's assistant) reached out to let me know Alicia is on maternity leave and had a few clarification questions to get the ball rolling with another doula. Unfortunately, I never heard from Julia or anyone else again. I've since left a voicemail and 4 follow-up emails with no response. If Born Doulas is too busy to accept me as a client, I would have appreciated hearing that upfront vs. just ghosting me, especially as a returning client. These types of customer service issues are just unacceptable, and if you are looking for a doula or placenta encapsulation company during the very delicate time of pregnancy and delivery, I recommend looking elsewhere and finding a company that cares about communication.

Additionally because she has worked with many babies, her reassurance whenever we had behavioral or symptom-based questions about our daughter was very helpful. Since our daughter is a mostly agreeable baby, in her downtime Michelle also took care of laundry and cooked us delicious meals with leftovers that we heavily relied upon when we were too tired to cook ourselves. We interviewed two excellent doulas and ended up going with Lindsay due to our friend's recommendation and the fact that we felt like we could relate to her better due to her straightforward demeanor and since she's close to us in age. Lindsay provides you with two pre-natal visits and one post-partum visit in addition to the birth visit. She also gives you a hefty packet of info on pregnancy and post partum stuff- some of which is medically accurate, but serves more as a good starting point to talk with your ob or midwife (and she's clear about that). Lindsay has a great demeanor, kind, helpful, smart, and strong. She has this amazing ability of being there for you during labor/delivery without being intrusive and giving you and your partner the space to do your own thing while providing support. And when we needed her to step in, she was there 100%!!! In fact, it was during a difficult labor that Lindsay's experience, skill, and bedside manner really shone - she really wowed us and physically invested herself in making it work. We had a long labor and she was prepared to be there and totally present and actively supporting us for the whole thing!! I can honestly say that the price is worth it, in fact I almost feel we under paid!! Go with Lindsay, you won't be disappointed!

My husband was filling the tub while my mother was making the bed, and I was stuck on all fours in the baby room with back labor. I was terrified and didn't think I was going to make it through this; I'd definitely need to go to the hospital. I called Lindsay, and she came over very quickly. As soon as she entered the room, everything got better. Lindsay jumped in without missing a beat, telling me in a calming voice that the things that were happening to me were all okay and coaching me through deep breathing techniques with each surge. She helped put me in the tub even though I was resistant to move, and suddenly my labor was more manageable. She also communicated with my midwife, getting her there on time as things were moving along very quickly. Lindsay made me feel safe throughout the entire process. Her voice was calming and she knew exactly what to say at the exact right time. She made sure I was hydrated and comfortable. She placed her hands just where I needed them right when I needed them there. She knew when to step in and when to step back. Above all else, she emitted a calming vibe that helped everyone stay cool, calm, and collected, even a basket case like me. She empowered me to birth my first born at home, with the labor I wanted (and deserved), and supported me the entire way, through pregnancy and beyond. Before she left after my birth, I asked her if I could keep her forever and ever. I really couldn't have done any of this without her, and will be thankful for her presence in my life for many years to come. Needless to say, if you are looking for the most loving and educated doula on the block, Lindsay is your gal. 5+ stars!!

She guided us through everything--from how much to feed our baby, to understanding fussy phases, to answering all the little questions that every new parent worries about. One of the biggest gifts she gave us was sleep. Thanks to her guidance and support, our daughter was sleeping through the night by 12 weeks, which made such a positive difference for our whole family. Because Fernanda cared for our baby overnight, we were able to get proper rest ourselves and truly enjoy our time with our daughter during the day instead of constantly feeling exhausted. She also remained calm and dependable in unexpected situations. During a small earthquake one night, she stayed with our baby, keeping her safe and comforting her in the crib while I made my way to the room. That moment really showed us how trustworthy and composed she is. Fernanda is warm, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about the families she works with. She helped make what can be an overwhelming transition into parenthood feel so much smoother and more enjoyable. We were actually able to get some sleep early on, which kept us sane. Our baby comfortably sleeps for a long stretch at night in her bassinet thanks to Fernanda. Fernanda also helped us get set up for longer term success with sleep. This included: - Advice on setting up the nursery before the baby was born so things were easy to grab. - Sleep conditioning. This included things like advice for our baby's day routine and advice on creating the right environment (room temperature, whether the room was dark enough, etc.). - Guidance on how to handle the baby on nights when we were on our own. - How to swaddle our baby. Our baby was a swaddle escape artist, and Fernanda showed us how to swaddle in a way that actually kept her arms in. She generally made our lives easier by with: - Washing pump parts and storing milk. - Reports in the morning on how our daughter did overnight. - Gear suggestions. The essentials list she provided before the baby arrived and when we asked for ideas were all on point. - General advice: recognizing when our baby was ready to go up a diaper size, identifying when she was ready for a faster flow nipple on her bottles, how to burp the baby and help the baby pass gas, and other things that take time to get a feel for as first time parents.
