good course that is more challenging than one might think.It has many uneven lies and the player will be be challenged to play the ball on many different angles.The greens and fairways are in excellant shape.There are 6 par 3's that can leave you scratching your head if you don't play them carefully.The pace can be slow at times.The course can be enjoyably played and will test your shotmaking and strategy.The views are very nice.The 14th hole makes no sense,which is unfortunate.It is like they just put a hole there because they had no place else to put one.You are almost better off playing the hole from the neighboring fairway.Charging $2.75 for parking is a rip off.This course is short,but interesting,enjoyable and playable.I would recommend giving it a try. read more

Douglaston Golf Course is one of my favorite golf course in NYC. I started playing golf here many years ago and now I play a round or two with my kids any chance we get. Well maintained course, challenging, easy to book a tee time, affordable and convenience to get here from where we live. The golf course is now in better shape than ever before and should get even better with an additional area to practice chip and putt and sand bunker shot next to existing nice and wide putting area by the club house. Should try this golf course when you have a chance. For visitor to NYC who loves to play golf, this is a must golf course to play (of course, beside the historic Vanny in the Bronx). read more

Course has nice views of the city and fairly wide fairways for beginning golfers, the holes along the west side of the course, 13 and 14, are built into a hill and the ball has a tendency to roll away from the center towards the fence which can be disappointing after a good tee shot. The three Par 3's in a row 15,16,17 give you a chance to make up some strokes. While the overall course is on the short side, there are several holes with lengths over 400 yards and the 18th is over 500 yards. Very enjoyable course whether you are a beginner or have been playing for years. read more

My son and I played Douglaston for the first time two weeks ago and were really happy with the condition of the fairways and greens. It is not very long but as a beginner I found it challenging and interesting. We were fortunate to play with another twosome that knew the course which helped a lot with some of the blind approach shots. Very nice views from some Tee boxes and some very interesting Par fours. The pro stop staff was a bit abrupt and there was a bit of a mix-up with the starter but all in all a very pleasant day of golf close to home. read more

Great public course. Very challenging if your not a good player. If you are a good player, still challenging. You can hit the ball straight down the fairway and still have a sidehill, downhill, or up hill lie. The rough in the middle of the summer is thick and un forgiving. the greens are beautiful all year round. The staff always seems to be working hard and are very nice. this course was redone about five years ago and before the construction was god awful. This is about a four hour round and you will enjoy the round. read more

Solid course at a solid price. Can't really compare NYC public course prices to what's available in Suffolk or Westchester or wherever, because if you live in Queens, then this course is a 15 minute ride vs. over an hour, best case. I managed to get 3 rounds in on weekdays this summer, reserving only 24 hours before the round, just because I wanted to start at sunrise. Which isn't possible at Clearview, or Bethpage for that matter. So for what it is, it's a fun round with your friends before work. read more

In an idyllic setting in the hills of Douglaston is nestled a magnificent manor surrounded by an absolutely gorgeous golf course. Immaculately maintained, it consists of rolling hills, glass-like duck and frog inhabited ponds and magnificent trees that are the havens to all species of birds including majestic hawks!!! Played my first round here with a foursome from work. Course condition was about the best I've seen for a public course. Despite short length, elevation changes make it challenging for all levels. The group I played with ranged from beginner to 20-year guys and this course was perfect. We headed over to Don Peppe's in South Ozone Park after our round and it was one of the best business outings of my year. read more

Despite being short the hills and blind holes make this course very challenging. The slow game play a times is frustrating and players there need to learn how to repair their divots, especially on the green. But the vistas and random partners, if you come alone, make up for it... a little. All in all Douglaston, for the proximity to NYC, is a great course for the price. read more

Course is short and maintained pretty well. The staff is not very friendly at all unless like some others noted theyve been playing here since they were a kid. But if youre a new golfer they could care less. The food is decent. PArking fee $2.75 is a joke. Greens fee are high as well for a short public course, much nicer courses on LI for same price. read more

I was pleasantly surprised about how well kept the grounds are maintained, how friendly and helpful the Pro-Shop Staff is, and finally, how much fun it is to play this mid-level difficulty course in my own back yard...beats having to go to Long Island. There isn't a better location for a round of golf if you live in the city. It's a great price, a beautiful course, and has a friendly staff. I often have breakfast in the clubhouse before I play or a burger when I'm finished. Whenever I need a break from the city, I usually think of Douglaston first. This course is is in great shape for a public course. Though it is a little short, it definitely requires some skill and planning. Understanding the course is key. It's worth the trip out to Queens to play here. The afternoon can get a little congested here so be sure to tee off before 12 on weekends. read more

Course is in very good condition. Can get very buisy, so reserving a tee time is recommended. Green fees are reasonable. Only downside for me is the parking fee. Parking should be free like most other courses. read more

Best "city" golf course. Very well maintained but it is very hard to get good tee times. Due to it being a good course it is very packed. The view is also beautiful and the course is a medium challenge. read more
