His instructions were often difficult to understand and he'd get annoyed when I'd ask clarifying questions. The lessons involved presenting rather difficult concepts in whole (e.g. the entire golf swing), and then observing my attempts at it. Each mistake was met with visible frustration, putting me in a constant state of unease, which felt counterproductive to the learning process. In moments when I could have used guidance, he'd let out a big sigh or resort to periods of silence, increasing my anxiety and self-consciousness. His reactions were so harsh that I found myself constantly apologizing for making the slightest of mistakes. During the second lesson (of my life btw!), he actually yelled, "Oh my God" in frustration after I missed a shot. Talk about a confidence killer! I couldn't believe that a PGA pro that was being paid to teach would have that kind of a reaction to a total beginner missing a shot. The fact that I miss shots was the very point of why I was taking lessons in the first place! Plus, it was super embarrassing as there were many people around us. Ultimately, Danny's tendency to respond rudely and condescendingly to my beginner-level mistakes was deflating, and led to a decrease in my motivation to practice and continue learning with him. Although I prepaid for 5 lessons, after the second one, I was done. Despite the financial loss, the thought of enduring another session was more agonizing. I was excited to start learning golf, this was supposed to be a way to unwind and have fun. Regrettably, and despite the positive reviews, this was not my experience. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I felt like I had to let people know what they might be getting into, especially since his lessons aren't cheap. I really hope Danny can take this feedback into consideration and change the way he teaches to be more supportive to us golf newbies.

For…read morestarters, I went from scoring in the 100-110 range before working with Gabe to shooting as low as 92 in less than a month. This is possible because Gabe has the teaching and playing experience to coach you in all aspects of your game, whether it's course management or building confidence around your shots. Gabe has elevated my awareness of my own swing and helped me stay committed to making long term swing changes. Like many golfers starting out, I still struggle with the basics like consistent contact, club face control, and release. No instructor can transform your swing overnight, but TRUST he will give you the right things to work on and many ways to work on them. As a result, I am making solid contact with the ball more frequently, have 15+ yards in distance per club, and am hitting straighter shots. Most importantly, Gabe will teach you how to be your own coach. Working with Gabe over time has given me the tools to diagnose and straighten out issues in my own swing even on a day when "I just can't seem to hit the ball." It has also taught me to consume the myriad golf content I encounter online with a critical eye. I know what I need to work on thanks to Gabe, and any of the bad rounds I shoot now and going forward would not be for a lack of excellent instruction. If this is helpful context, I picked up golf in 2020, have mediocre natural hand-eye coordination, and am not a particularly quick learner. All that is to say that if Gabe can help my game this much in six months, he can most certainly help anyone. His encyclopedic knowledge of the golf swing would make him a great coach for complete beginners and advanced players alike.

A beautiful store in the middle of Long Island. Quite frankly it was like a palace for anyone who enjoys golf as I do. The people were very friendly and informative. In fact, I was talked into buying an annual membership, which I felt was a great deal. I live in East Meadow, New York. Not far from the Westbury store so I figured during the winter I could get my swings in while I worked on purchasing a custom fitted set of clubs. Upon doing homework for my clubs the first thing that concerned me was that when investigating getting fitted, I was told the cost of the fitting would not come off if a club was purchased. That actually shocked me. How am I to know how a club feels if I don't try it out? In going to Golf galaxy they wave the fitting if you purchased the club. Each fitting is around $100. So if you go for a driver, Woods, irons and wedges that's four fittings totaling $400 that I can't get back just to try clubs. So that's my first big concern. Again, Golf galaxy will waive the fitting fee if you buy the clubs. FYI, I purchased a ping 440 for $700 and I bought a set of Mizuno irons for $1200 from Golf galaxy. That money could've been in the PGA store pocket. Poor business decision decision. I'll be going back to them for my woods in two weeks. I get one free fitting from the PGA store as part of the annual membership which maybe I'll use to try out my wedges. But that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I know I'm not the only one. Secondly in trying to reserve practice pays everything's done on the website. Did you ever think of possibly getting an app to do this? Would definitely make it easier. Upon arriving in the Westbury store for my practice session, which by the way, my wife who knows nothing about sports asked me is this the same store? She was referring to the Commack store in comparison. Apples and oranges from an impression standpoint. It desperately needs a facelift in so many areas. The practice bays are horrendous. They are so old and to be honest the technology is outdated and requires recalibration. What you see in the picture of the website looks nothing like what you arrive to in the Westbury store. When you arrive to check in for the practice bays you check in in the front and they start your timer from that point. You're start in the front to the point you walk to the back put your stuff down. Take your jacket off stretch a little bit so it seems like a bit of a rush. But I understand people have set times. Additionally there is never anyone back there to direct you on how to set it up or if you should have any questions you have to waste time going to look for someone. Lastly, if there was an app, it would be great if you could track your progress on the app from the practice session you just had. Once the timer goes off, your info is gone. How do you get that information? All that said I am now trying to book my practice sessions in Commack a half hour away where everything is beautiful. Only problem is everybody wants to go there because it's so beautiful. So booking a practice bay has to be done at midnight exactly 2 weeks before the day you want to try to book. That's very restrictive.
