It's actually hilarious, grabbing the most expensive iron shafts without even asking how I felt about it. After telling him I wanted to stick with steel and could not afford the extra up charge for those shafts even if I wanted them, his demeanor completely changed. We tried a bunch of different shafts and while I was swinging them, I noticed some of the shafts weren't even standard length. Once I mentioned that he said "yea just choke up for me." I only went in there cause it said $50 for the fitting or else I would have went to Pete's. I also came to find out $50 is only if you buy something so make sure to read the fine print. Don't want to spread negative energy so I'm leaving the fitters name out but have to leave this review to keep people from getting swindled. Its a buisness I get it but this was just laughable.

Tillinghast was the golf course architect, does the name sound familiar? He also designed Bethpage Black Course, which will host the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2025 Ryder Cup. As I mentioned in my tip, the course plays short for the bigger hitters, so one must be aware of fairway bunkers that are not noticeable, but very much in play. During portions of the course from the tee box, you may catch glimpses of the tip of a fairway bunker yet the remainder of the hazard is lurking below your line of sight. Most will require a 260-270 carry from the championship tee's to fly them, so I recommend you do not attempt it as the penalty can me large.. Similarly, you find that same issue with your approach shots, there is deceptive bunkering. Once I had my yardage, I would execute the shot only to find in many cases I was on the beach. The wind swirls all over the course, I struggles all day to find a pattern of direction unsuccessful. I became perplexed trying to understand if it was the wind, the deceptively large bunkers that were catching my approaches, rather then their safe landing in the greens, as my swing was feeling properly grooved. If your were long on your approach, it was typically not a place you could get up and down from, short and you would be in high grass or a deep six foot bunker. Once on the greens, again there was deceptive breaks I just could not get a handle on and therefore remained uncomfortable with staring down a six footer for par. A putt I would typically slam in the back of the cuo without hesitation, I was on my heels with hesitation and re reads of every putt. . What a smart and strategic little course and a warm and welcoming clubhouse.

My Kiwanis group has been having our golf outing here for many years and I have really gotten a feel for just how special this course is to be on and part of. Our outing is usually a 12pm shotgun and we fill up all the holes with foursomes. This comes after a beautiful breakfast then some time on the driving range. I don't play but I am always there with my camera as the official photographer. They do such a great job for our breakfast buffet. Plenty to choose from and all fresh and tasty food. Once the golfers hit the links you can always see and hear what an excellent course this is. It is very challenging, well maintained. They refer to it as a golfer's "golf course." The holes are challenging and fun. The greens and fairways are very well maintained and there are always plenty of rangers on the course helping to keep the golfers moving along. After a day of golf, we have a gala cocktail hour and dinner. We have been coming here for many years and they have always presented a beautiful evening for us. Great food, wonderful service and a comfortable venue with a beautiful view. I know many people who have either got married or celebrated a personal milestone here... everyone happy with the event. That's why I was genuinely surprised and disappointed by how my recent visit to Engineers Country Club was handled. I visited as a prospective member, sincerely interested in what the club had to offer. However, expectations around prior golf experience and etiquette were not communicated in advance. My experience has mostly been recreational (e.g., Topgolf), and had I known that a higher level of familiarity was expected, I would have welcomed the opportunity to take etiquette lessons or ask questions beforehand. Instead, I was informed after the fact that staff had seen us on the course and complained. At no point did anyone approach us directly to explain any concerns until after the fact. We were told we might be perceived as "fooling around," though that phrase was never defined, and notably, there was only one other member or guest visible on the course at the time, far away from our golf cart. The implication that our presence was disruptive felt both unclear and unfair. There was also confusion about attire. It was implied that women's dresses for golfing were not acceptable, though that wasn't clarified in advance and wasn't addressed with us in real time. The experience lacked the transparency and hospitality that prospective members deserve. A brief orientation or a simple, respectful conversation could have made a meaningful difference. I hope this feedback helps the club reflect on how it welcomes and communicates with future visitors who come in good faith and with a genuine desire to be part of the community.
