Greens and fairways were impeccably kept. Service: We planned an outing here with 4 foursomes and the staff was incredibly accommodating in terms of timing, rentals, carts, etc. Did not encounter a beer girl until the 18th hole, we did tee off around 9:30 am so I understand reticence but would've appreciated a first drive by around 11 or noon. The driving range machines were down in the morning so we could not warm-up. Food/Drink: Pretty standard muni-course fare.

I've been several times to only browse because for womens wear, their selection isn't that vast, but my luck did improve when it came to buying a new club. Last year I decided that a new driver would help my game a bit and thought investing in one of the new Taylormade RocketBallz one would be a great fit since I love TM so much. But with the help of a very patient sales guy, who let me try out club after club for a good almost 2 hours, I found the club that made me smile. The reps here let you try any club possible, pretty much, and will continue to configure various shafts and club heads till you find what works best for you. They record you swing speed, club head speed and trajectory of ball flight and then help you analyze what works best. I didn't feel pressured at all! They were great at NY Golf Center and I came away with a new Calloway instead of TM. So for help in club fitting, I highly recommend these guys. On a side note, more ladies shoes would be a great addition, wink, wink...

What also makes this venue special is that is is across the street from me. It is an easy drive as it's right off the parkway.. Give your car to the valet and enter this beautiful venue. I walked into a lovely lobby before going upstairs into the main room for the festivities. This was one very large room with and additional seating area. Really, very nice setup. The room is very big and could easily hold a very large party in the hundreds. Great dance floor with a beautiful fireplace. A great spot for pictures. There is also a beautiful bar across the hallway They had a beautiful cocktail hour with DELICIOUS served appetizers, lamb chops, crab cakes and of course the most famous pigs in a blanket. The main food was served buffet style and they had a lovely selection including Sushi and sliders for all the kids. The staff here is awesome. Everyone is very attentive to the guests and is always there if you needed them. I always look forward to a return trip for photographing a party during the day when we can take advantage of the beautiful setting.

The course here is quite awesome really. Picture an actual 18 hole golf course just much smaller. Each hole ranged from about 60ish-100+ yards. The lawn was beautiful manicured and we even had several deer, rabbit and red robin sightings! As someone who is brand new to golf (I at least own a decent club!), I felt very comfortable at this facility. We only noticed 2 other groups and a single player throughout the course and everyone was patient, polite and friendly. Prices were very reasonable too, at only about $10 a person plus $4 for a pair of club/$1 per ball (if not bringing your own). Just don't forget to pick up your deposit and your ID (they only require one held per group) at the counter on the way out. I'll most definitely be coming back here asap so I can start practicing!

How did I not know about this place? Maybe I should keep it a secret. It's a beautiful course, uncrowded, right off the beach, with some stunning views. Also, as mentioned by many others ... brings LOTS of balls. The woods are filled with weeds, thorns, spikes, and lice. Can't beat the greens fees of $11. That's cheaper than a movie and a lot more fun. Parking is $10 ... it may be worth it to get an $80 parking pass. I plan to play a lot here. Wife loves it too.

Tillinghast was the golf course architect, does the name sound familiar? He also designed Bethpage Black Course, which will host the 2019 PGA Championship and the 2025 Ryder Cup. As I mentioned in my tip, the course plays short for the bigger hitters, so one must be aware of fairway bunkers that are not noticeable, but very much in play. During portions of the course from the tee box, you may catch glimpses of the tip of a fairway bunker yet the remainder of the hazard is lurking below your line of sight. Most will require a 260-270 carry from the championship tee's to fly them, so I recommend you do not attempt it as the penalty can me large.. Similarly, you find that same issue with your approach shots, there is deceptive bunkering. Once I had my yardage, I would execute the shot only to find in many cases I was on the beach. The wind swirls all over the course, I struggles all day to find a pattern of direction unsuccessful. I became perplexed trying to understand if it was the wind, the deceptively large bunkers that were catching my approaches, rather then their safe landing in the greens, as my swing was feeling properly grooved. If your were long on your approach, it was typically not a place you could get up and down from, short and you would be in high grass or a deep six foot bunker. Once on the greens, again there was deceptive breaks I just could not get a handle on and therefore remained uncomfortable with staring down a six footer for par. A putt I would typically slam in the back of the cuo without hesitation, I was on my heels with hesitation and re reads of every putt. . What a smart and strategic little course and a warm and welcoming clubhouse.
