Where do I begin. I used to like Douglas until.... he convinced me to do a Keratin treatment and promised it will condition and smooth my hair. I was reserved about it and initial said no (I should have stuck with my gut instinct). Than I decided to go ahead with the treatment. He gave me clear instructions on how to shampoo and when. The next day I woke up with burnt, destroyed hair. And the kicker- he is insisting I washed my hair which I did not. did not take any responsibility, and blamed it all on me. I discovered Douglas' salon on Groupon and found a great deal on a balayage coloring, cut, and style. I reached out and was able to schedule immediately, within days of my call. (Text communication is best). When I arrived, he was running a few minutes late, so I waited patiently for him to finish. After about 10 minutes he was ready. Douglas is extremely warm and friendly so it was easy and never an awkward silence during my session. He has a TV and music playing so that helps make the time fly. Douglas did a great job and I was extremely happy with the results. I have extremely long hair (about 4" below my belt line). With the massive amounts of hair, he only charged me for the extra product (toner) it required for the length, and not extra for the time and labor, which I was satisfied with. The overall session took about 4 hours or more, but even then, Douglas never cut corners and made sure he was just as attentive to detail at the end of the 4 hours as he was at the beginning of our session. Now I understand why he ran a few minutes late on the last appointment, bc he takes the time and makes sure he's happy with the end result so that the customer is happy as well. As a first time customer, I even received a complimentary tub of hair mask! Every single detail from the design of his studio to the gift at the end was very well thought out and is what keeps people returning to Doug. I sure will! Douglas was fantastic! He gave my teenage daughter exactly what she wanted! Her hair is very fine and breaks easily. She had very damaged hair from too much hairspray and teasing her hair for cheer. He cut the ends off and layered it in a way to give her volume and grow it out. The salon was extremely clean, he sanitized everything before we came in. Bonus points for his adorable puppy! If you think your getting your hair cut and colored in a private salon for $40, you're insane, it's 2018 lovelies. Even fantastic sams was gonna charge me $75 for a single Process color (no disrespect to FS, they give great haircuts). I wanted a haircut and all over color in a dark espresso. Douglas Nailed it. Went back today for my 2nd time in his new salon (love the ceiling to floor window) and nailed it x2 and he spent 2 hours on my hair. The color, shampoo and cut turned out great and he's fun too. If I could give no stats for this guy I would. He totally does not know how to do hair. I went in for an ombre and came our with orange or strawberry blonde as he called it. It was not what I asked him to do. When I asked him to fix it he wanted to charge me extra. He doesn't even carry enough product in his little supposed salon for your hair he was scraping at the bottoms of the containers and totally ran out if bleach powder..WTF kind of business is he running. Warning, Stay away from Douglas! Trying to save money with a Groupon for a new look? Don't do it unless you have extra money. He will charge you extra for EVERYTHING , and will ruin your hair just so he can do a color correction that's starts at $450. I have dark brown hair and was going for soft and subtle balayage highlights, but the end result is nothing close to that. It's very streaky and fake looking. The bleached part is a really unsightly shade of ORANGE, I'm upset because I showed him a picture of the exact style, and look I was going for, but he still did whatever he wanted. It cost me over $300 to get it fixed. Douglas would not even workout at a dog grooming parlor. I'm taking him to small claims court. That's how bad my hair looks. :( read more

Waring to anyone wanting a chemical service! DO NOT COME TO DOUGLAS HE WILL RUIN YOUR HAIR BEYOND REPAIR!! I went in for a simple highlight apllication and he ends up putting black in my hair without my knowledge on how dark he was going. Then proceeded to rinse both the black and the bleach together. He did not tone the blonde and after 5 1/2 hours later he calls my highlights Halloween hair because instead of blonde highlights MY HAIR IS GREEN, YELLOW ,ORANGE, AND BLACK! ALL I WANTED WAS HIGLIGHTS! AND NOW I HAVE HALLOWEEN MOP WATER HAIR!! I was so polite to Douglas and never gave him a hard time. When I finally made it home around 10pm I looked in the mirror and he didn't even know hoe to weave highlights. He literally just slapped chunks of bleach in my hair and chunks of black. I kept asking he what is that, that you were trying to do here? He was more offended that I didn't like whatever it is he did to me than the actual fact that he ruined my hair. So I messaged him and he replied "Come in and I will just put black all over." That is the only way to fix my hair now. To cover all that unorganized no rhyme or reason for his layout of highlights. HE IS PURELY NEGLIGENT AND NEVER REFUNDED ME THE MONEY I PAID. Sadly now I am taking further action so this NEVER happens to another beauty! I'm so embarrassed to go to work or even out for that matter. And Douglas said just put your hair up and scrunched his face. He was supposed to do a full color, which I already had paid for.. then charged me another $25.00 for "grey coverage" and two days later, when I washed my hair the gray hairs were still there. I had went in to get my hair cut/colored as the groupon deal stated. I called, confirmed what I wanted done/the pricing and asked how long it would take, explained my hair isn't long and is fine and thin because I had to go to work 2 hours later, he told me it would not take two hours. I asked for dark brown, and ended up getting the ugliest color of light brown I could have gotten. He got hair dye all over my forehead, ears and neck, was very slow, made me late for work, and then charged me full price because my hair was "long" because more product was "needed", this was not true my hair is so fine and thin and not long by any means wasn't even past my bra length. Also convinced me not to buy the groupon and to pay inside when it was done. Right color? No. Timely fashion? No. Honest? No. Quality? No. Friendly? Sure. Professional? Definitely not. I am an easy person to please, and in this industry listening to what the customer wants (whether you agree or not) and integrity is everything. Be better. read more

If I could give negative stars I would! Disclosure, I have no idea how his service is or his personality in person because I was never given the opportunity to experience either. My husband was trying to surprise me with a gift, I'm a new mommy and after pregnancy my hair is dry and full of gray, we're on an extremely tight budget so he was extremely excited to purchased what seemed like a great deal on Groupon for a hair service for me, without realizing the extra charges for "unusually long hair" meant anything past shoulders it would have been at least an extra $75 for my hair length and not sure about my curly hair being considered "thick or corse" that's extra too. After realizing this, we tried to cancel on Groupon but they wouldn't help at all with the refund and neither would Douglas. He would not answer his phone and finally I just left a message and received a text message back. I explained the situation but he wouldn't work with us in regards to me getting something else for the amount we paid because we didn't have an extra 100 to get the service we already paid for. He supposedly contacted Groupon which I'm in question of his truthfulness on this subject, and according to him he couldn't refund us based on Groupon's policy. Which seemed odd but understandable and I was appreciate that he was trying to help. Groupon informed us our only option was giving it to a friend or family member. Awesome, I had a great friend to give it to with short hair so she wouldn't (hopefully) have been charged anything extra. I asked Douglas about this and he said Groupon again said no and that he couldn't accept our Groupon. So Groupon was either lying to one of us or Douglas was lying to me. That was very upsetting and a bit disturbing. And to make matters worse, he redeemed the voucher without ever giving us a service! I'm blown away with the lack of care or help. He's mostly polite on text messages (smiley faces added with bad news) and made it seem like he wanted to help which I really did believe until he told me that Groupon wouldn't allow him to let our friend use the service instead. It's super unfortunate because he could be a nice guy and generally have good service but I will NEVER find out because I lost trust and accountability in him. I'm sure he could have attempted to accommodate us somehow, he already got the money, it's his business, Groupon does not control his choices. This whole experience was VERY stressful and disheartening that people like this exist, I understand it's his business and he needs to make profit but I believe customer care should stand first to sustain a thriving business. Let me start this 5 star review by saying that I have never found a hairstylist I've liked. Usually each time I get a haircut I just search reviews on yelp and Groupon until I find someone. When I first went to DougLas, it was for a simple trim. My hair is pretty long and it was showing signs of damage at the time. DougLas really took his time and my hair was somehow healthier than ever for months and I had never had that experience after a haircut and I figured I finally found a stylist I want to keep coming back to! When it was time to get another cut, I also decided to dye my hair for the first time right in time for my wedding. Needless to say I was quite nervous but I needed to cover up some grays. DougLAs did an AMAZING job with the color and blended it seamlessly with my natural hair color. You can't tell where he covered up the grays and where my hair has been left as it's natural color!
