I specifically chose Douglas J salon due to the great reputation and Aveda association. I went in to get a color and cut and came out with the exact opposite. we had a consult with pictures - the stylist was more worried about a TikTok recording. by far the worst experience I had in a salon, I would never recommend or go back. The cut is uneven and o had to have the color redone. Huge waste of time and money. read more

I would recommend anyone to this cute salon in Kerry town. The vibe is friendly and the atmosphere is top notch. My hairdresser there is amazing! read more

I love this place! I've been here three times and have had different stylists each time and also, have been extremely happy with my service! I do either Level 1 or 2 because I know I don't ask for anything too crazy with my hair. For me, the best haircuts are when no one can tell you got a haircut. The stylists really listen to what you want and ask questions to make sure what you are saying is what you want. The stylists don't try to tell you which style is best for you because they understand that you know how you want to look. They offer you coffee/tea/water when you go in and they don't take tip! Service is consistent. read more

I had a terrible experience at this salon. Not only did I receive the worst haircut of my life, I felt the overall service was poor. The hairdresser did not listen to my vision at all and was in a bad mood during my entire appointment. I will not be returning and don't recommend this salon to anyone. If you do go, do not see Gabrielle. Update: two months later and I'm still dealing with this awful haircut. It makes me sick! I still have bangs and short layers that I can't pull or clip back. I asked for long layers and walked away with so many short, short pieces. It will take me a year to grow this terrible haircut, if you can call it that, out. read more

this salon is incredibly disorganized and very rude to clients. Today was the 2nd time I had an appointment scheduled and they said I didn't. I had a text to prove it. The receptionist was very rude to me and told me someone else had my appointment and I was not scheduled. I told her I had a confirmation text and she said I didn't! No apology at all. This happened 2 times this year. Ever since Encore merged with Douglas J it has been horrible. Prices went up so much and very difficult to get an appointment and when you have one they say you don't. They are disorganized and have no excuse for it. I will find another salon to go to. There are plenty. This place is overpriced, rude to clients who are loyal, and just not worth it. I will take my business somewhere else. read more

I went for a highlight and hair cut. I walked in another receptionist were sitting. they ask if I wanted something to drink and then one went back to the chair and the other on her phone. my stylist was great asked lots of questions and chatted the whole time. I had to go under what was called a dryer but it looked more like something they pulled out of the trash it hit my head as she was putting it over my hair as she moved it around it came apart in two piece. she finished my servic. the blowout was ok as I sat around the salon I started looking around how dirty it was. but that was just my opinio. I went up to pay and I can't believe how much I was charged. this is definitely not a high end salon. I was very disappointed.m read more

My husband has been going to this salon for about a year. He's had consistently great haircuts until his last one by Bethany. We went back to the salon to see if they could do anything to remedy the situation and unfortunately were treated with very bad customer service. They told my husband that even though they could see many flaws with the cut he had ( uneven sides and length) they had already "closed up" and couldn't do anything. They then send us to the school and assured us that they would be able to have someone over there fix the issue right away. We walked down to the school to walk in and find out that no one at the salon had called or alerted them that we were coming. While there were instructors and students walking around on the floor, they said no one was available to assist us and that even if they were free they couldn't issue us a "redo" like the salon assured us. Overall this was just very disappointing. My husband is a very calm and relaxed person but was treated very poorly for a situation that wasn't his fault. If a mistake was made I would have hoped they would have done everything in their power to correct it right away instead of sending us out the door. My husband is in a wedding tomorrow and unfortunately will have to go with hair as is due to a stylists mistake and a salons poor service. I don't believe I would recommend this salon to anyone going forward due to the lack of customer service that we experienced this evening. read more

I've been coming to various Douglas J salons in Lansing and Ann Arbor for years now. Today was a very disappointing experience. I got a random call from their number in the morning, no voicemail left. Thinking that was unusual, I called to find out my appointment had been cancelled as the stylist had a family emergency. Ok, fair enough. I politely asked who else might be available and was told there were no openings with anyone until the following week. At this point my hair looks like a disaster- barely professional- as I've already had to wait two weeks to get in from when I originally called. Douglas J made absolutely no effort to accommodate the situation. No trying to squeeze me in with another stylist. No "here's X off your next cut for the hassle." And for them to be running staff so lean that they can't find a way to get an 8 year customer in is really just inexcusable. You lost my business today Douglas J. I'm sure I can find plenty of places willing to take my $80 for a simple men's haircut. read more

Yesterday I got my eyebrows waxed here and was very displeased to wake up this morning with a painful burn/scrape under my eyebrow. I have gotten my eyebrows waxed at many different salons over the years and have never had this happen to me before. When I called the salon to explain what had happened, I was told that the wax was likely too hot and that I should "rub some Neosporin on it". For $21 and with the aveda name, I expected a lot more from this salon and unfortunately won't be returning. If you're looking to get waxed I would recommend finding someplace else! read more

Highly recommend Lyndsey S for haircuts! She has always listened to what I want and executes an awesome haircut. She also took the time, over a few visits, to teach my how to round brush blow dry my own hair. No other stylist has been so attentive to helping me accomplish a salon style at home! For color, highly recommend Erin! Similar to Lyndsey, she listens and adjusts color based on my request. I love that I was pleased with my color walking out of the sale rather than feeling like I had to wash it a few times to get the desired shade. read more

I found a $10 off coupon online, and made an appointment day-of with a Level 1 stylist. So I got a nice haircut for $31 ($41 - $10, and no tips). This was very pleasing, given how expensive haircuts can be. My stylist was Blaire, and I have only positive things to say about her. She was patient, thorough, and sweet. Nice overall experience, as well. I was offered tea or coffee when I came in. Having read the Yelp reviews on the great tea, I asked for that, and it was awesome. Licorice-y. I waited just a few minutes for Blaire to come over, which worked out perfectly. It gave me time to relax and have my tea, but wasn't so long that I got antsy. We talked about my haircut hopes for a few minutes, then Blaire gave a really enjoyable head massage. So nice. I feel like I'd go back just for that. Then, the shampooing was pleasant and a good length, and finally the haircut... efficient. The blowdrying went on a while, but whatever, we had a good conversation going. Blaire did not try to sell me products, which I appreciated. In other reviews I'd read that stylists do that, and so prepared for the spiel. But, happily, none. When I went to pay, I asked about the tip thing. Indeed, they are a no-tip salon. I really appreciate that. The price you see online is the price you get. Between that and a pretty haircut, I felt great going out the door. A few days later, I still like my haircut. It was a simple cut, but those are also mess-up-able, so I appreciate that Blaire did such a great job with it. I definitely plan to go back here. I'd previously said that about Vox, but when I compare prices and experience (the head massage!), I definitely like this place better. read more

I love this salon! I've gone to Douglas J eXchange numerous times over the past 2 years, and I have become a great fan. Here's why: 1. The head massage! Before they wash your hair, they let you pick your favorite aromatherapy oils and they give you a head massage. It's awesome! I didn't think I'd be into pampering, but it's a very relaxing way to start a hair cut. Plus, sometimes there's another staff member who walks around and offers (free) hand massages while you're getting your hair cut. Talk about service! 2. The "no-tip" policy! I don't know about you, but I always get nervous when it comes time to pay the stylist. How much do you tip? 10%? 20%? What if he/she just gave you an amazing head massage and another staff person massaged your hands? Well, here they don't allow tipping, so you never have to worry about it! If they say the price of a haircut is $35, then it really IS $35. Well done, Douglas J, well done. 3. Each time I've come here, I've had a different stylist cut my hair. Some have been better than others, but all of them would be rated 3 or more stars. So I'd say you're safe with any stylist (fyi - I usually go with the less experienced stylists since they're less expensive). All of them have been super nice and friendly. In short, this is by far the best value for your money out of any salon in Ann Arbor. Highly recommended! read more

awesome awesome haircut if you ask for kay! kay is wonderful and i used to go to her when i lived in ann arbor. i recommended her to two of my friends and they became return-visitors too until they moved. the reason i thought to write this review is that i moved away at the beginning of the year and still have not gotten my hair cut because i can't bring myself to go to anyone else. but i'm ready to take the jump soon and i didn't want to do so without paying tribute to kay. she is a really cool person and a great stylist. easy to talk to, but you don't have to if you don't want to chat. she doesn't make you feel weird about that either. she always cuts your hair just the way you want it, even if you are terrible at articulating what you want. and by some crazy miracle, she also does it quick! not too quick of course, but just really expertly and doesn't waste any time. like a ninja really. i also just love coming into the douglas j. i love the smell of aveda products and the way everyone is so friendly and the couches are so comfortable. the no-tipping policy is pretty great - at the time, i only had to pay $38 total for the perfect haircut. i think they've raised their prices a bit recently but it's still worth it. the only reason i'm not giving douglas j five stars is because i know that not everyone there is as great. i've never heard of anyone getting a bad haircut, but they're just not as amazing sometimes or they'll take a lot longer and more explaining of what you want. here's hoping that my next haircutter will be as good! read more

In the unlikely event that anyone else is relocating from Louisville to the Ann Arbor area, I'd note that this is basically Z Salon. Except with metered parking and no naked lady statue outside. For the rest of y'all, Douglas J is an excellent example of the Aveda school+salon model. I feel pretty confident that any stylist who has graduated from the Institute, moved over to the salon and gotten their first promotion shouldn't do anything irreparable to my hair. So, I aim for a Level 2 stylist. The Level 1 staff are surely very competent, but I'd probably want a personal referral in that case. If you're going in blind, I think it is worth the $7 or whatever. I was very pleased with my haircut the first time out. Blair really took the time to figure out my hair, my short and long term style goals, and my styling habits. Or lack there of. She was a good sport to not judge me for my unwillingness to do anything on a daily basis requiring a second hair product. And I am now the proud owner of two - count them TWO - separate and independent eyebrows. So, you know, bonus points for being a full service salon. read more

It simply doesn't get better than Douglas J. I have lived in multiple places since moving away from the area and I've NEVER been able to find a place as great as DJeX. What makes this place simply AMAZING: 1. Kay and pretty much anyone else who I've had cut my hair here. I have been going to this salon for about 5 years and only ONCE have I had a cut I wasn't happy with and I believe with all my heart that it was a total fluke. Every other time I have come out beyond happy and have recommended this place to friends of all ages and styles and they all keep going back. The hairdressers here listen to what you want (whether you have a specific idea or not) and I literally have never heard anyone complain about their cuts from here (and I've recommended A LOT of friends). 2. Very INEXPENSIVE cuts. I have never had to pay over $45 here (and that's for a level 2). I think their prices did go up a couple dollars about 2 years ago but it was still insanely cheap considering all the freebies you get: a beverage, **head massage**, AND **arm massage**. Everyone always gets the first two, the hand massage depends on if they have enough people to give one but if you want one, you can always ask for one and they'll arrange it for you as well. 3. NO TIPPING--for anyone. Every time I go, I ask if I can tip (they kindly say "no") so then I just rave more about Kay. She has been my favorite and I kid you not, for about 2 years after I had moved away from the area, I still planned my hair cuts around the times I visited AA again. 4. Fantastic atmosphere. This really is a place where service is deeply valued. I am always warmly greeted by everyone as soon as I arrive, someone immediately takes my coat, offers me a beverage, a place to sit, and after my cut, I'm always walked back to the register and sincerely asked "how was everything?" I simply love it. I'll say it again: I have traveled to a lot of other cities after moving from the area and it is for that reason that I believe this place deserves 5 full stars. There is simply nothing as good as Douglas J. read more

I've been visiting Ann Arbor Douglas J Exchange for the past 3 years and I highly recommend Amber S. as a hair stylist. I like to vary my look quite a bit, and no matter what I've brought in (drawings, pictures, combined pics where I want bangs from one cut, the back of another) she does a fantastic job. I also had Amber style my hair for my 2008 wedding - it was lovely and stayed up/looked great all through the evening. She put my shoulder-length hair in pincurls, then styled the whole mass in a simple, classic loose bun with an ivory flower clip. Was perfect! Amber is skilled at doing creative/avant garde cuts - or simple classic cuts. She is also a very genuine, nice person as well. I've had my hair colored at the Exchange a few times, but I do not recommend it as the color formula used by Aveda is very harsh, drying, and washed out much faster than Igora, or even Redken haircolors. Aveda also does not make color glosses which would serve people who do not want to be blonde, much better than the peroxide laden products. If you want to be/are blonde they do a great job on highlights - but I don't recommend them for other shades (I think it's an issue of not enough practice with darker colors since everyone-n-their-mom are, or want to be blonde.) read more

This place is ah-ma-zing! Start with the tea, when they ask you would like to drink, ask for the tea. I wouldn't steer you wrong, unless of course you have an aversion to licorice - in which case, I'm not sure I want you reading my reviews! Then - Scalp massage with essential oils, yes; hand massage while you wait, yes, please; an wonderful shampoo; yes, please; an amazing haircut; triple yes, and thank you! ; and then comes a blow dry and style. All of this awesome service at a very value-filled price of $41 (for a level 1 stylist - prices go up from there if you want a more experienced stylist) . Oh wait, I forgot to mention the invaluable advice and education about my hair type, best ways to wear it, etc. This is the best service I have in a long time. I'm not a "pampery" type of girl, but you will feel that you are the only customer in the world at this salon; they are that service-oriented! There is no tipping allowed - in and out in about an hour for $41 total! read more

I have been coming to the Douglas J eXchange for 8 years now, and I have not once considered going elsewhere. In fact, even while living 30-45 mins away from Ann Arbor for several years, I still drove back every 4 weeks for a haircut and every 6-8 weeks for highlights. This place is that good! I see Amber for my haircuts and Beth for my highlights - both do an incredible job. I routinely get compliments on my hair and it's really just a testament to the great work they both do every time. I can't say enough about either of them. The salon itself is more of a minimalist decor - comfortable, not overly showy, but very nice at the same time. They serve complimentary water, coffee, and tea. One thing to note that's out of the ordinary - tipping is not allowed at the Douglas J salons. So just an FYI if you are going for the first time. Prices are based on the level of the stylist/colorist - the higher level the person is at, the higher the price. Level seems to be determined by years of experience and performance, from what I have observed. Higher levels can get pricey, but I don't think any of the prices are out of line with other higher-end salons. In fact, they're still lower than some salons, I'm sure. This location has a full line of Aveda products for sale - hair, skin, makeup, etc. read more

I have to admit I am not a hair style officiando by any means, but, I am one who likes to get my monies worth when I spend it. I have gone to the Douglas J INSTITUTE several times prior to here and was very happy with the results but it is a huge time constraint because the students are slow and need to be graded by instructors throughout the process. So, the Douglas J SALON is the solution to that! They are absolute professionals. I had my hair cut and colored. I need to point out that two different stylists did the job. One did the cut and one did the color. Meaning, you get experts in each area. They consult with you and each other before starting and the end result is gorgeous! I have not worn my hair in a ponytail, other than to workout, since my cut! I love it and scheduled my next appointment before leaving! Oh, and they don't allow tips either, just like the institute. So, for an absolute professional job (which you pay comparable to other salons) and Aveda products, this is a great salon! read more

These four stars are for Heather. I was a new customer, and tried a level 1 stylist for the $41 flat rate. For $41, it's actually a really good deal because there's no tip added, plus a little massage. I want to give props to Heather though for being really nice, not too chatty, and helping me decide what would look best for my cut. I want to especially thank her for not shaming me for not using expensive product, like every salon on the planet. I know many places have incentives to sell you things, and encourage you to buy fancy conditioner, but I'm so glad Heather recognized that I'm clearly not that kind of customer and didn't make me feel bad about it. Overall, Heather had solid skills, and I would likely come back. read more

I wouldn't get a haircut here unless I was a fan of the stacked bob, but it is a great place to get a simple eyebrow or "upper lip" (just call it a moustache!) wax done -- simply because they charge as much as any salon but do not accept tips. They also offer you some great tea or coffee while you're on the wait. I had a great heart-to-heart with my aesthetician when waxed my face. Great results. Since I am so picky, I am very hesitant to get my haircut here, but I've seen decent cuts on others who want basic things done -- for the price you might love it. However, my friend got an asymmetrical cut and it didn't look so great. For less conventional cuts, I recommend Above Ground. read more

I visited the salon on May 22, 2010. I had never heard of this salon until my friend, a bride, scheduled the bridesmaids for early morning hair appointments for up-dos. The salon was very accommodating and even opened an hour early just for our group. All the stylists were cheerful and professional, and they gave each of us coffee, tea, and complimentary lotion hand massages. My stylist, Sandra D., was personable and friendly. We had a good conversation, but she was neither nosy nor pushy. I'm sure we all know how important it is to have a stylist who can carry a great conversation but who doesn't force you to talk if you're not in the mood. My updo was finished quickly and looked amazing. I received many compliments on the creativity and modern look. I had only given Sandra a few guidelines to follow, and she invented the rest. I loved it! Sandra also went above and beyond by donating her own hair flower to me as a gift. She wouldn't even let me pay her for it. If the salon accepted tips (which they do not), I would have given generously. If I lived in the area, I'd certainly be a returning customer. I highly recommend it. read more

I've just returned home from my first visit at Douglas J eXchange and it won't be my last! The salon was practically empty when I went in, but only because I booked one of the earliest appointments available (9:15am). The reception staff was very friendly. She offered to take my coat and grab me a beverage (tea/coffee/water) and brought me to the waiting area. My stylist Amber was great, I really liked her and will definitely book with her again. She was very friendly and pleasant but most of all really listened to what I was looking for and took time looking at my hair before delving into the wash/cut. A bonus of this salon is they use Aveda products, which are completely organic and very light on your hair - you'll never feel weighed down using Aveda. Plus, you're choosing an earth-friendly product so it's a win-win. I can't think of anything that would have made my experience better, so I'm giving this salon 5/5. Highly recommend. read more

Looking for a nice salon? No need to look anywhere else! LOVE this salon. I've been a loyal customer for the last 3 years. If you're getting your hair colored/highlighted, ask for Jessica. She is the absolute best! I trust her explicitly- when I go in, no need to tell her what I want... she figures it out every time and I walk out of there feeling beautiful! I'm pretty lazy when it comes to getting haircuts. We're talking years inbetween trims (bad, I know). But I am a huge fan of Douglas J. My hair is super thick, and it always takes forever to cut. Last time I came in, it was pink, which isn't a huge problem, but I warned the person cutting my hair that it might wash out. She didn't mind. I always get the haircut I'm asking for, even if I want Quorra's bangs, or just a trim. For the price- awesome haircuts! read more

Came here with a few girlfriends to get mani/pedi treatment. Our students were great, they did a good job and my student was able to give me some tips for a new mom. I like the idea that they are students and that their work gets checked over by senior personnel. That way, I feel that if there was a major blunder, they would fix it before I left the building. I was a little confused by the process up front however. We just milled around front for a while before getting checked in, and again we stood stupidly with our nail techs after we were done, waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Not just us, the customers, but also the students! It was a little off-putting. Bonus: I love that they switched to more natural nail polish, and while the finger nail paint had to come off in 1 week for work, the toes are still going strong with their vegan color. read more

I now work in Ann Arbor and have little time for hair cuts and color with my commute, school and home schedule. Douglas J Salon has worked out great. My first visit was due to a hair emergency where I had to cut a large chunk of my hair out in the front due to it getting caught in something. I called and explained the situation and the Salon fit me in with Mackenzie to work on a trim so that both sides of my front would be symmetrical again. Mackenzie was great- she listened carefully to the story and my hair history, assessed the damage and did such a great trim that my hair actually looks even better now than before the mishap! The customer service is excellent- calmly greeted, tea, a head/neck massage and a superb hand and arm massage. The music is nice and not so loud that you can't chat, and there is excellent natural light in the room so you can see color and cut very clearly. The products are Aveda and very high quality and the blow dry came out perfect. I will be back. Thank you. read more

$170 I can't get back. I told myself I wouldn't write this review but it's been 3 months since I last went here and I'm still haunted by these awful highlights. I asked the colorist for nicely blended and faded down highlights that were lighter at the bottom and showed her many pictures. She guaranteed she knew what I wanted and that it was going to look "SO GOOD" she then proceeded to start using the lightener at the roots first and left it on too long. I ended up with these chunky blonde highlights in my brown hair that were bleach blonde at the top and then brown at the bottom (let me just tell you, NOT cute). There was a one inch line from my scalp where the highlights started right in the front of my head. I went in a couple days later so they could "fix it" but it didn't work. Sometimes it still makes me want to cry thinking I spent $170 on the worst hair experience of my life. I cringe at the thought read more

I'm not generally a big fan of hair salons - I usually go to the local regular barber, but at the insistence of my wife, I joined her for a haircut at the eXchange recently. We decided it was time for a new look and its probably good to get a new look at a salon rather than the regular "maintenance" cuts I usually get otherwise. The service and atmosphere were great. All the stylists seems both knowledgeable and responsive to what I specifically needed/wanted. I guess the new cut ended up sort of how I imagined it, but not a 100%, but that could have been partly due to my lack of commitment to how short it might need to be... As far as value, we both got cuts by their newest level of stylists, and therefore the cheapest rate of $32 per person. I thought that was quite reasonable, and didn't think that the least experienced stylists were short in ability. I am a big fan of the "no tipping expected" rule. I would propose that to any and all businesses. There is no reason for the possible awkwardness that gratuity expectations can lead too. Overall, no complaints. I might even try this, or other, salon again! read more

I went here for four years during college and I feel like I should pay proper tribute to Rebecca. She is very experienced and if you go in for just a cut, you can be in and out in 45 minutes with great-looking hair (unless you're doing something extremely radical, I assume). I also started getting keratin straightening treatments with Rebecca while I was in college. They use the Chi brand (since Aveda doesn't produce straightening products), and I found that the effects lasted well over 6 months on my wavy hair (your results may vary, especially if your hair is very curly). This process takes several hours but with Rebecca it's great - she'll chat if you want to chat, but is happy to leave you alone to read magazines or study if you don't feel like it. The atmosphere is great, the people are friendly and professional... I highly recommend Douglas j exchange. read more

I've come here for over 10 years and I hate to say that I will be moving on from this salon. The last two haircuts I received (by Level 1 and 2 stylists) were pretty haphazard and careless, with lots of unevenness on the ends. The most recent one I received, she put 3 different styling products in my hair and it looked dirty when I left. Plus, this used to be a no-tipping salon, which I appreciated, but now they are accepting tips. The overall professional feel and great customer service of the salon has gone downhill and it seems that the management has changed. read more

Worst haircut of my life! The hair side of my face is cut completely differently, completely jagged and asymmetrical. I asked for my layers to be freshened up and they just hacked off part of my hair to the ear so it ends severely, pops out like a triangle, and the middle is way thicker than the bottom. It forms a weird parabolic shape that's the last thing I need with a round face. I also came in because I wanted it to have body at the top and it somehow hangs worse than before. First time there and never returning. read more

I've gone to the salon for a few years and had a handful of different hairstylists, and they've all been wonderful. Most recently, I've been seeing Melissa who is an absolute delight and really cares about giving you the exact haircut you want, going above and beyond what you would usually get from a hairstylist. She (and other stylists I've seen at the salon) listen to what you want and what you can maintain - I, for example, am really lazy about doing anything to my hair, so we keep my cut simple and easy to maintain. The scalp and hand massages are a wonderful perk, too. As for pricing, note that it varies greatly depending on what "level" your stylist is. Just make sure to request a certain level of stylist beforehand - they will sometimes ask you, but I've also been assigned to a higher-level (and higher-price) stylist when I haven't specifically asked for a level 1. I've mostly used level 1 stylists and have been really happy with them, but I've only done fairly basic things so I can't speak to doing really complicated dye jobs, etc. read more

Walking into the Salon I was expecting a wonderful experience. That is what I got. I was treated in the lobby by my Colorist Gianna and we went straight over to her chair. As I sat down she asked me if I wanted anything to drink, I politely declined so we sat down and began discussing what exactly I wanted done to my hair. We both decided to continue lightening my hair and add a transition color towards my roots. My experience was lovely and Gianna was respectful and professional but made me feel at home in the salon. My hair looked amazing that day and I was so happy leaving and have noticed my hair has faded so beautifully and I'm very happy with her work. Will be returning thanks to the experience she gave me! read more

I've been going to Sam for years and she's one of the best stylists out there and that's the only reason I come to this salon. This salon is one of the most raggedy, run down salons there is (not just out of all the Douglas J's) which is very sad for such a large company like Douglas J. The stylists chairs pretty much tip over any time you move, the shampoo bowl chairs slide around making it very uncomfortable when trying to have a pleasant experience. With how much you pay for a haircut or color the least they could do is upgrade their salon to actually make it enjoyable. read more

After several sub-par, but still decent haircuts and highlights at Douglas J, I will not be returning after my most recent appointment. I have very thick, long hair and went in for a trim. After cutting my hair, the stylist did not blow dry my hair and did not style it at all. From start to finish, washing my hair, giving me a scalp massage, brushing the hair, cutting it and then "styling" took all of forty minutes.
