The absolute BEST salon! I've seen multiple stylists and everyone has been friendly, professional, and highly skilled. They truly take the time to get to know me as a person and work together to make my hair dreams a reality, no matter what I throw at them. Inside of the salon is so cute, and everything is always clean. I also get my nails (gel overlay) done with Destinee and she does beautiful technical work and awesome nail art. Clean, cute, well-kept place to get a haircut. I would recommend. Huge step up from Great Clips/Super Cuts/etc but not super high end where you might end up with a hefty price. This place falls right in the middle. It's cute. Right in downtown Saline. There's street parking (I always get a spot right out front) and also a parking lot in back. They have a small Keurig station inside and comfy chairs to sit in while you wait. I love the exposed brick on the inside. I've been bringing my curly haired daughter here since she was about 10, after Zoe & Joey closed. She has seen a couple different stylists, but has decided that she likes Angela the best. She does a great job with curls and is very gentle. They also offer lower-priced child cuts for 12 & under. However, this is definitely not a kid salon! I would not recommend for any child who is not able to sit still on their own. More recently, my hubby has even started getting his haircut here! He sees Candy, and has been a few times now. He has told me that he likes that she notes what she did to his hair in the computer so when he goes back she knows exactly what to do/what he likes. So.... The reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 5.... Avoid ModSquad at all costs if you are looking to get your nails done. For a pedicure, they are sorely lacking.... No massage chair to sit in. Basically a small barely heated tub for your feet. As far as finger nails, I wanted to get an acrylic fill but they don't do that here. My mani/pedi experience here was terrible. And for a mani/pedi, I was seriously here for about 4 hours. The poor girl truly had no idea what she was doing. Also very small polish selection to choose from. I would not advise anyone to ever go here for nails. They simply aren't equipped and should just stick with the hair aspect and not nails. I came to MOD squad salon after learning online that they were an authorized dealer of Halo Couture hair extensions. I only intended to purchase the halo from them and also have them complete the maintenance On it as needed. I was upfront about this when ordering the product. Ally, a very kind stylist helped me decide which one would be best for me and helped me to get it ordered. She advised that the product would be there between three and seven days. The product did not arrive until 14 days later, and when I called on day 7 and day 10 to check the status, the receptionist (who did not identify herself when answering) was rude and spoke with an annoyed tone. When I went to pick it up, I expected to be fitted and educated on its use. I walked in, was handed the extension set in a sealed package and told to have a nice day. In hindsight, I believe this to be because I was honest and told them I would not be coming for my regular hair care because I already had a stylist. The service and communication I received were subpar at best. I will not be returning, I will instead will be searching for another salon to complete the maintenance on the item I purchased. The price-gouging is unbelievable. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE LONG/THICK HAIR. Apparently, there is a heavy fee if the stylist goes over a certain amount of color used. I WAS CHARGED $300+ FOR PARTIAL HIGHLIGHTS AND A BASE. I had budgeted for a cut/color & tip as per the website prices (approx. $150). When I got there, my stylist immediately saw how much hair I have and told me she would not have time for what I wanted (which I know it takes awhile with this much hair, but I couldn't indicate that when I booked my appointment). I really needed help fixing some grown out stuff, so instead of leaving (like I should have done), we worked out a plan to do it in two sessions. I had no idea what the full cost would be!!! THAT WAS NEVER EVER DISCUSSED WITH ME. I DID NOT EXPECT IT TO BE 2x WHAT I PLANNED ON. I even asked for a cost breakdown at checkout to make sure I was not mistakenly charged. THEY DID NOT EVEN CUT MY HAIR. They wanted me to come back for a second session and I will not be doing that because I simply can't afford to, and I don't want to get kicked in teeth with these fees for having a lot of hair. The hair turned out fine, though she kept insisting on making my brown "cooler" even though I repeatedly said I like warmth and don't mind the warmth. I'm normally pretty mellow, but this was completely unfair to not disclose how much this was going to change the price before I had to pay. Botched Balayage: This took place a couple of months ago and I came across the photos again and remembered that I forgot to make my review. This was my first visit to the salon and I requested a balayage with caramel and blonde accents, as show in the inspiration photo attached below. I brought this photo in with me printed out and showed the stylist. She said it was no problem to get me to that exact look since I had come in with virgin hair, so lifting it and adding the color and highlights would be very easy to achieve this look. I confirmed that I'm happy to do whatever it takes to achieve the look including darkening my roots to allow the highlights to pop, and reiterated that I just wanted to look as close to the photo as possible. Near the end of the appointment the stylist was saying how great it looked and was very pleased with the way it turned out, and once I got home I was shocked to find what my hair look like I out of the salon lighting. You can see from the photos below house streaky my hair was. The very blonde stripe on the one side of my head was a huge concern (it didn't match anywhere else on my head) and I was shocked that the stylist allowed me to leave the salon looking like this. In the other photo shows a comparison on the left to right side of my hair with it pulled up. On one side there was virtually no color and on the other side I look like a skunk with stripes along the top of my head. With my hair down it looked nothing like the inspiration photo that I had requested. I immediately took these photos and emailed the salon requesting a retouch. I did not hear anything back for a full business day so I decided to call the salon and follow up. I'm not sure if I spoke with the salon manager or whoever happened to be at the reception desk at the time but the person seemed annoyed that I was asking for a follow up on when I can come back to have my hair fixed. The girl on the phone pulled up the email I sent to look at the photos and asked me "what exactly it is that you think is wrong with your hair?" ...It's not a matter of what I "think" is wrong with my hair -- it's blatantly obvious that my hair was a wreck. She put me on hold to ask the stylist to see the pics and she came back on the phone and said that "[the stylist] said you didn't want to go darker on the roots so it was impossible to achieve the desired look without going darker". I said that was untrue I confirmed multiple times that I was willing to do whatever to achieve the look shown in the inspiration photo. Multiple times! The stylist knew that I said I was fine darkening and bleaching, whatever was necessary for the look, and she confirmed prior to starting my hair she could easily achieve this look in the inspo photo for me. The receptionist/manager then said that my stylist will follow up with me via text on when I can return for it to be fixed, and I returned the following day. I still was not very happy with the retouch as I had very little to no dimension in the back. She did however, fix the streak on the one side, added more highlights to even out the disproportioned look, and add some darkness to my roots to achieve a look closer to the inspiration photo. Overall my experience at the salon was very disappointing. I came in with virgin hair which should not have been hard to achieve the look that I was going for especially with the stylist confirming she could do it for me, and I do not feel the email that got no reply or call back to follow up was very professional on the salons's end based on the tone of voice, lack of empathy and what was said on the phone, and manner that my complaint was handled as if it was an inconvenience to them. I was only in Saline because my mom was in hospice care there for longer than expected. I was living in her hospice room. I really needed a haircut, so I took a chance and wandered into Mod Squad expecting the worst. I mean, I had no knowledge of this place whatsoever. Still, I figured that ANY haircut would be better than no haircut. I ended up having a stylist named Kayla work on my hair. She is so so talented! I usually get my hair cut from a pro in LA who sometimes works on celebrities. She charges $100 (before tip), and I gladly pay it because she's really good and personable and, afterward, I'm good to go for about 2 1/2 months. Kayla is just as good. When they told me my cut was $25 I thought they were kidding me. Thank you, Kayla, for giving me a $100 haircut at 1/4th the price. You're the best! read more

I went here to get my hair done for a wedding I was attending. The stylist was new to the salon but has been working in hair for a couple years. The up-do she did was not secured with a hair tie or clear rubber band just bobby pins. 30 minutes after I paid and left the salon my hair started falling out. My apt was towards the end of their workday so I couldn't even go back and have them fix it. Very disappointing. read more

I was referred to Mod Squad Salon by my friend. I was skeptic/afraid about going to any salon to have my hair colored as my sister had been coloring my hair all my life. But this was a special occasion so I wanted to treat myself and have it done professionally. My son was getting married on Nov. 10 and this was important to me. I explained what I wanted which was my roots colored. That's it. Renee put a dark color on my roots which was my first sign that this was not good because blonde was never dark. All Renee did was lighten my dark roots to a lighter brown and run it through the rest of my hair. Looked like I didn't even have my hair done. Renee could tell I wasn't happy and told me well I thought you wanted it to look like it was done professionally. Burned me three times with the hair dryer. When I got home my boyfriend looked at me and said, "I thought you were getting your hair done today?" I was sick, disappointed and I only had 8 days til the wedding. Two other people the next day asked me when I was getting my hair done. I called Mod Squad back because the owner/Renee who did my hair said I had a week to come back free of charge if I wasn't happy with it. She got me in and I could tell she wasn't happy to do it again free of charge. Washed it, didn't put detangler/conditioner in it and pulled a chunk of my hair out combing it and I turned out to be a light redhead. Burned me again with the hairdryer but this time I just got out of the chair and said I'll go home with wet hair. Needless to say my first experience with a salon was not a positive one. I was later told by a customer of Renee's that they always have to go back to have their hair fixed when they see Renee too. They think that she does what she wants to do and what she thinks will look good instead of listening to what the customer wants. Will never return. My sister used Mod Squad for her bridal hair and make up. We had the best experience with them. Renee was extremely accommodating and did on site hair and make up for about 13 girls in under 4 hours! The hair and make up lasted all day without any touch ups. The bride was absolutely beautiful and the bridesmaids really enjoy their look. I would highly recommend them for any of your bridal needs! Terrible customer service experience. Called over a week ago to see if they had a product and they didn't. However, the girl on the phone was super nice and said they could order the product I wanted and it would be in the store to pick up in a week. Great! A week in a half rolled by and still no product, so I thought I would call and see what the status was. First, the phone rang over 20 times and finally someone picked up and she was short with me. Second, I explained my situation and she said she looked and there was nothing. So instead of taking my name and number down so a manger could call me or so she could see if she could find out more information she said "sorry"... I have worked in retail before and I understand that things happen or sometimes something doesn't get written down but you do everything you can to make sure you aren't missing something and to make sure the customer feels taken care of. Thirdly, I wrote a review on their Facebook about my situation and it was deleted. If you are managing a social media site then you never delete a comment good or bad (unless it has profanity). You proceed to try and fix the problem with a reply or reply with thanking them.
