DFN send letters in Sept 2024 to DSL customers saying they were going to discontinue service Oct. 31, 2024. So, we switched to T-Mobile the end of September. We dropped off their phone equipment October 1st and was told they would prorate the bill for October for a partial month. On November 1st we got the final bill for $99.59 for our home internet, which is the charge for the full amount (not prorated) for the month. I called to ask why and they said billing dept. said no prorated last month I have to pay the full amount, period. I had been with them for about 15 years and this is how they treat their customers. I would expect this from big companies but not a local small internet company. I would NOT ever recommend this company ever again. Poor customer service! read more

I wrote a review a couple days ago and gave them a one. Actually, I said I wanted to lower than zero. In retrospect and based on a phone call I got from them this afternoon; I'd like to re-evaluate them with a new review. Although I was never 'impressed' with the speed of my one gig service, I never complained about it to see if there was an issue they could fix. As I said, it ran, unwired. about 690mbps. But there was some buffering on TV apps (mostly Sling, which is not the best written App of all the Apps out there) and a few others. But we were offered a three-year deal from another carrier that I could not refuse, and I am pretty frugal, so we took it. I will with regret of saying it, Douglas Fast Net is NOT a worthless piece of garbage of a company as indicated by the call and more. The young man basically told me that he had looked into the situation about the 1 month in advance policy about giving notice only to find out that I had not been given notice directly, at all. So... he refunded my almost $68. Now that's class in my book. Not the policy, but the refund. So, for quality of service I'd say probably a 3.5 to 4 and for customer service (not the policy but the customer service) a 4.5. Add them together and divide by 2 to get a 4 to 4.25. When I wrote the first review I was quite upset about the $68. I see things in a different light now. So, there ya go. read more

Worst customer service I have ever had from what the company considers a "local" provider, everyone knows this company is tied and supported to the Douglas Electric Co-op, whom without this company would probably fold. Asked front office ladies when the service will repaired and upgraded so outages in the Wolf Valley Dr. area of Umpqua area would be less frequent, all I got for a response is we have no plans in the near future, and the services seem to be fine for everyone else with no major complaints. Today I won my small claims action against DFN. They erroneously fined me a $30.00 penalty for an "NSF" return on my auto-pay bank account which I proved was untrue. I also filed a complaint with the FCC which required them to provide an answer with 30 days. Their response claimed I gave them the wrong account number which caused an NSF return from my bank. Two excuses both false. My paperwork proved none of this happened. Since I opened my account with them I gave them one of my voided checks. My bank denied any such action took place. I have no complaint to date concerning their phone service, but their billing practices are terrible. I advise ANYONE who has had similar experiences with an NSF penalty with this company to file a claim with the Douglas County Court House in Roseburg. This is a dishonest way to run a business. I wonder how many OTHER people have had this happen to them , and never came forward. I saw one complaint in here dated last January. read more

Got an extra - padded bill - for my payment not being properly credited to my account. I made the payment electronically, submitted it. I follow this same process every single month and never detour from it-Every single month. Same as I do other bill payments, same process every single month. For whatever reason - technical - not on my part, but on the part of DFN, the bank NEVER received the request for payment-Which means it was not submitted (AFTER I made it) properly AFTER I SUBMITTED IT- but according to my bank, it was just never submitted at all. Called DFN, for explanation, was told my "Payment was sent back for NSF." i nearly spit out coffee trying not to LOL. Funds were in the bank, payment was requested on my end, but not submitted on theirs, and I got hit with a greedy fee ($35.00 plus an extra $5.00) I ABSOLUTELY did NOT deserve. Tthis is corporate theft - at worst - and sloppy payment processing - at best. Now add insult to injury and they insist my, . . . . "Payment was NSF." That is a blatant lie. I proved it is a LIE with bank statements. This is an egreggious over billing of greedy fees and should be returned immediately. I was a great customer, but will seek other internet options. Do NOT use this service - Customer service not helpful AT ALL. Billing dept. Not helpful at all. They have ONE script to refuse to give the money back from you that they STOLE. Disgusting. The customer was NOT at fault in tihis. DFN was entirely at fault. With fees are being added willy-nilly - and you have zero recourse, that is corporate THEFT. There are other, better, more affordable services available. Use those instead! For what they offer - This corp. is way too expensive! I hope the additional fees that they reached into my pocket for and took right out of my pocket replaces the hundreds of dollars they will lose from a good consistently paying customer! read more

Michael P. came to my door and told me he could get me a better deal for internet and even gave me one month free and said if I wasn't happy I could cancel.... so I signed up.. there installer came to the house and had to get his 5ft ladder out. He put it against the house to get to the line that was rolled up underneath the roof... after he got things up and running I ran a speed test and it came up 150Mbps short so he said it was my router so I hooked the ethernet cable straight up to my PC and ran the test again... it was 100Mbps short, he said it was my PC..... after he left I saw 3 black marks on the side of the house where his ladder was and he left a lot of old screws and wire in the grass and aslo didn't clean up any of the drywall dust left from when he drilled a hole for the line in the house... after using DFN internet for a day, I noticed lagging and tried resetting my router and their modem and it didn't help and even did it a few more times over a week.. after a few weeks I called them to cancel, they wanted me to pay for the 1st month and they said they needed a 30-day cancellation notice and I was going to be billed... I told them about the damage done from their installer and they told me their manager would be contacting me... I never heard from their manager.. a week later I got a bill so I called them and told her the same thing I told the last person I spoke too and she told me her manager will be contacting me again... never heard from their manager.. read more

Absolutely worst customer service. I had upgraded my internet speed and all of a sudden starting having worse speed issues. After talking with their IT team, I was told their router was outdated and I needed to come in and swap it out with a new one. Keep in mind at the time, I was not being charged equipment rental fees. I swap out the router and get the new one going. For 1 gb of service my devices were only receiving about 5-20mbps which is absolutely ridiculous. It was worse than dial up in the 2000's. I call their IT department again and was on the phone for probably an hour to have no resolution. They offered to send a tech out but I would have to pay the service fee for that. The IT tech advised that I purchase my own router and see if that helped. I purchased a $170 router to which the speeds were better 300-500 mbps, still nowhere where they should have been but okay. I then return DFNs router back to them and told them I wanted a refund on the equipment fee since their equipment never worked properly. They informed me they would look into it. They credited me $10 but not the full $20.40. After calling several times, trying to speak to a manager, being told a manager would call me back in 24 hours, never hearing from a manager, then being so frustrated I informed them I wanted to cancel my service in which they hung up on me as soon as I stated that. I can't believe how unprofessional they are, and to lose a long time customer over $10 for poor internet speeds and crappy equipment. I absolutely do not recommend them, especially since I did everything they advised to get absolutely nothing resolved. read more

To start with, I've had my service since 1999 when Comspan first started it. They eventually sold the company, and Douglas Fast Net currently owns it. The advertised speed is always what I receive, and the network stability is pretty decent, but after today I don't have many more good things to say. I decided to upgrade from the plan I'm grandfathered into, which is actually half the speed I used to receive from Comspan, but it's always been enough so no big deal. I upgraded online to a no contract plan for $65, the same plan on contract was listed at just under $90 which I thought was a little weird, but whatever. I received an email that confirmed the $65 a month price for the new plan, the removal of the old plan, and a one time fee of $25. It even showed the price difference of $15 per month from my old $50 plan. Everything looked good until I checked my account a few days later to confirm everything was all set and saw I was charged the more expensive on contract price. Long story short, they said the plan I was able to choose wasn't priced correctly, and they wouldn't honor the price. Even after I forwarded the email I received confirming the pricing that was obtained straight through their website, it even had a work order number and everything. At this point I told them to revert me back to the old plan and I guess I'll now look around to see what is available in my area. After almost a quarter of a century of continuous service. It's really too bad, I'm a loyal customer that would like to keep paying them for a good service, but loyalty should really go both ways and they failed at that in this instance. read more

Terrible service WATCH OUT they have failed in all their promises and deliver very poor quality internet, zipply delivers 1000 up and 1000 down for less money and better service. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We have 6 locations and recently have had over 3 long outages that has totally shut down our business. read more

I moved to another location about 2 miles away in Roseburg. I wanted to continue my service, but they don't provide service where I live. They charged me $150 for early termination fee. I explained to them that I did not terminate my contract. I want to continue service. It isn't my fault they don't provide service to my area and that I had to switch providers. I did not breech contract under Oregon law. I wanted to keep my service. I asked them for a print out of the terms of my contract. They said it was an oral contract that I agreed to and wouldn't give me a print out of the terms of my contract. Unbelievable. I am reporting them to the better business bureau if they don't reverse the charges and we will see what they have to say about it. Just do the right thing people. read more

So let me start by the Customer service girl who answers the phone is really not very helpful. I called on Monday to get my internet service started. Well its now Friday and I still have not received a call to set up a time for installation. I called back to have the rep tell me that only one person is allowed to schedule and she went home sick. (OMG if this person quits this company is in big trouble.) The rep said that I can leave a voice mail and I "might" get a call back by mid next week. I asked for a supervisor to be told she is also out of the office. This is not looking too good so far. I am really having second thoughts of selecting this company. If you would have asked me three days ago how I liked DFN, well I would have told you that it is amazing! Well tonight our internet has gone out and it's now been about 3 hours. I have called the 1-800 number and both guys were very nice. However the second time I called is when I found out that there is no one on the weekend available to come out and fix it. We are now having to wait until who knows what time Monday or later to have someone evaluate the situation. I work from home and am now unable to use my internet since there is absolutely no way they can have someone come out.... This is very upsetting and as a customer who happily pays their bill monthly, you'd think that there would be more accommodation made to have someone available in these situations. Other than this I've had great service with both customer service and my internet. read more

Reliable internet at a premium price with great tech support, unfortunately their customer service is not up to par with the rest of their employee base. DFN charges customers as much for fiber as for ADSL at a third of the speed, their reason for doing so is "The cost of renting the phone line from Century link". The truth of the matter is they run fiber 90 percent of the way to achieve ADSL speeds and the copper lines rented are about 1/100 of that distance. I was told by the linesman that have serviced the area for 20 plus years for Quest previous to Century Link that the line rental is minimal and the the majority of what DFN charges is what they used to build their current infrastructure. Being providing service to rural customers is their bread and butter we have paid higher prices for them to achieve success and without complaint, it was their way or the highway, they know that they are the only game in town. Now that they have established their business their older customers continue to pay more for less, purely by DFN's choosing. DFN will profit further from the fiber infrastructure that rural customers helped build to the tune of 70% higher average prices for internet then the majority of the country. This is a service that we all need and use, we really can't complain (or at least that is the impression their customer service leads me to believe). Hopefully at some point DFN's appreciation is reflected in a lowering of the price for their customers that they choose to not provide fiber to speeds too. A company lowering their prices to appease their customers seems a shot in the dark at this current juncture so it would come as a surprise if that indeed was the case. Alas, one can hope that customer service and appreciation is still of value in this day and age. I guess we will see what the future brings for the loyal customers that helped build DFN with their hard earned money. read more

Have had my DOUGLAS FASTNET fiber service for a couple of weeks now. I am completely satisfied. I was using HughesNet which is better than nothing for surfing but lousy trying to stream video. Zero problems with Fastnet. It is very fast - as advertised. I have been watching movies on-line since they installed it. The installer showed up on time, got everything set up, and explained the equipment. Nice guy, professional and courteous. I also ordered phone service. I was surprised that they were able to switch my phone number that day. read more

I finally decided to get fiber internet to my home and I chose DFN due to my friend's recommendations. I'm so glad that I did! The install went well and was done in an acceptable amount of time. What a relief to not be using up all of my data on my cell phone anymore! I would suggest DFN to other friends, but keep in mind that DFN does not have Fiber available everywhere yet. They are working very hard to serve as many people as possible, as quickly as they can, but it's amazing to know how much work goes into the whole process. They don't just flip a switch and Presto you have internet. It's much more involved than people assume & patience and cooperation from both parties is necessary. We have hada great experience so far. We are out in the country and our onky choice is Dish or DFN. Dish is the worst in every way you can imagine from the high cost, low quality, and criminally bad service. DFN is great. Better than my experiences with other comapnies in cities across the country like Verizon and Comcast. DFN is much better than those. The SPEED is fantadtic- I had to go down to a slower package because all we di is use our computer for a TV, so as long as we get the BEST Yelp, Netflix, and Youtube- we have no use for super speeds unless the kids visit and want to play onlive competitively. We had minotlr issues with DFN- mix ups over the phone at the local office. However, once we got their DSL we were impresed with the quality and cost. Today we just got fiber optics connected and the equipment provided like their modem and router are high quality. With Comcast and Verizon I would often get set up with a burned out piece of junk, that would malfunction and faol AND I would have to spend several hours on the phone and call many times to be able to mail the old crap back for something that hopefully worked. With DFN the equipment is quality. Mike Ruppert was our installer. He had to make some adjustments- there were some initial issues, but he took a little extra time and fixed everything including advising and helping us adjust to a plan that fitour needs perfectly at a lower cost. DON"T TELL DFN- we got a slower plan than what we signed up for. Everything STREAMS SUPER so watching TV and movies could not be better. We really appreciate Mike's professionalism and honesty. read more

Honestly, the only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because the girls answering the telephones were very nice. Otherwise, 1 star may be overrating it. I live in an area that is not in the middle of town. When I called to set up service I was told that they do not schedule an appointment to install service until another customer in my area needs service of some sort. This cuts down on travel time, gas, etc. I expressed my concern and asked questions but was simply told that that just is the way it is. I scheduled the appointment. I got a reminder email from one of the receptionists and I took the opportunity to ask about what the policy is if we are having issues with our service.... As in, if there is something wrong with our device, do we have to wait until someone else has an issue in our area before it will be corrected? The response I got via email was the same. It is the way it is. I responded with "wow. Poor customer service" and received a final email of "sorry you feel that way. Let us know when you change your mind." This place has monopolized the outerlying small communities with owning rights to them and their attitude is that they don't care about you now and they won't in the future. In addition to this, there is a $100 sign up fee that will know be waived with a 36 month contract. ($!@&?!!) Bummer. read more

I originally thought DFN was pretty good--until we moved and had to change services to another company as DFN doesn't service our new area (hmmmm makes me wonder why??). The customer service has been HORRIBLE. Daja and Heather assured me that everything was all set for transfer and porting, yet, they keep screwing up the order. New company has been out twice and will have to come out a third time now! WORST customer service ever!! On top of it, they're incredibly rude. I'd take Comcast, DISH, Direct TV, etc., any day over these incompetent, rude representatives and this company which clearly doesn't care about its customers. Very poor service. AVOID!!! read more

I decided to switch to DFN from Charter, but was very hesitant. Charter had just raised my bill by almost $20/month after I had been with them for a year, so I thought I would give DFN a shot. I have now had DFN Fiber Internet for 4 months now and have not had one issue with the internet. I'm now paying $20/month less than what I did with Charter, but my download and upload speeds are significatly higher (100/25). I did have one issue with the billing, but the girls on the phone were very sweet and took care of it right away. I gotta say that it is very nice to be able to talk with someone who is local. read more
