Bread and butter pudding with ice cream. Very good
    Natalie M.

Went here yesterday evening for the second time. I got exactly the same food I got the first time: thai green curry, bread and butter pudding with ice cream and a tea. Last night the curry was far too hot for a thai green curry. It was even hotter than a red green curry. I didn't fancy anything else off the menu as it's quite limited but the chef definitely over did it on the chillis. For what it is this place is quite expensive. I got the 19.95 special menu deal which worked out 15 cent cheaper than if I just ordered the exact same dishes off the menu separately... Not sure who thought up the specials but they obviously didn't put too much thought into them! I finished my main before my partner did and the waitress took my plate while my partner was still eating and she also asked me if I wanted my dessert. I told her id wait. On top of this other staff were hoovering around us which was just really rude and unprofessional. I'm giving it 3 stars as the first time I went the food and service was better but if I were to rate it on yesterday alone is only give it 2.5 stars! I won't be back

neighborhood spot for breakfast & lunch. cute neighborhood near Dublin City U campus and Croke…read morePark. short breakfast menu with some pastry selections. wife chose a croissant to begin and i picked a scone with butter/jam/whipped cream. the scone was listed as served warm and came barely above room temp. it was also quite dry and crumbled when touched by a knife. but the addition of jam and cream made the pieces pretty tasty. the croissant was significantly better, flaky and fresh. with jam even better. the house organic granola my wife chose was declared pretty bland even with the berries, mint, and yogurt added. a drizzle of honey did a lot to improve the taste. my choice of eggs benedict was intriguing as it was listed as using Parma Ham-a type of prosciutto-instead of a more traditional ham. unfortunately the execution didn't meet expectations. the ham, instead of being sliced and soft, was similar to a chipped beef, crisp and in little chunks. it was piled on one side of the bread without egg or hollandaise. the egg was perched on the other side, nicely poached but covered in the blandest hollandaise i've ever tasted. a good dash of pepper helped but between the meat and the sauce it wasn't a good choice. also the "muffin" it was served on was really dry. our service, while attentive, was made a bit difficult by a communication barrier with the server who i believe did not have English as their first language. she was trying very hard though. maybe another day and another meal-lunch or brunch-would be different but on this day we left disappointed.

A mixed group of us came here for brunch on Saturday morning having made a reservation in advance. The menu was the usual brunch fare and with burgers for those so inclined. Some of the party ordered pancakes - judged pretty good, others opted for poached eggs with avocado - ditto - and I had the breakfast bap with scrambled eggs on the side. Bad choice. The 'bap' was basically a burger bun (I know this because one of the group ordered a burger and it was indeed the same bun on both). Baps should ideally be ciabatta although a baguette is not unknown or unwelcome. This was a slightly sweet burger bun. On this were two overdone rashers of bacon and a couple of hardened sausages, both of which I reckon has been cooked earlier and reheated. Garnish, if that's the word, was a sad and lonely half tomato grilled to death. For the price I would at least have expected a small salad of rocket or similar but no. The scrambled eggs were terrible - soggy and tasting of butter and grease. The coffee was good and strong, the service was friendly and attentive but the positives didn't even come close to canceling out the sad mess I received. I won't be rushing back. Should be one star but, based on my companion's verdicts I'm giving some benefit of the doubt.

More recently the Gra* to try was only heightened by seeing the queues of people patiently waiting to get into the Churchtown branch every Sunday morning as I passed on the way to do the weekly shop. This Sunday we got our chance, plans in the morning had changed which meant we were late leaving the house and were in need of a late lunch, the queue outside the café was small as we passed, I saw our chance and went for it. After only 15 mins we were seated, a comfortable table by the window and menus in hand. The menu has Q written all over it - chicken wings, open sandwiches, steaks.... Seriously... Q all over it! I ordered the all-day breakfast, junior the wings and fries and wifey had a pasta dish. Overall the grub was OK... it was all cooked perfectly and lookd great, it tasted OK too... but that's all, just OK. The quality of the ingredients wasn't what it should have been, it was surprising given how popular the place is. I'm glad we got to try the restaurant but no, won't be returning. *Irish for heart but also means to want passionately

The chicken pie looked magnificent with a huge pastry top and although I was initially slightly disappointed to realise there was no pastry base (apparently there is actually a very heated debate about whether it can therefore be a pie at all, of which I was previously unaware!) I thought it worked brilliantly with the slightly soupy insides, into which I bashed down the topping anyway. So not a classic pie certainly - perhaps a pot pie? - but in any case I'd recommend it, especially because it comes with a great selection of vegetables and salad. They are really flexible about what you get which was awesome because I fancied a combination the hot and cold options as so many looked so good. They were also really unusual - purple potatoes, Jerusalem artichokes and greens with beetroot puree. All very tasty, and from Irish farms, and in fact I think quite a lot of it from the Airfield estate itself. Hot chocolate was good too and there's a water tap where the cutlery is. Given the old country estate setting this is an ideal place to come if you'd like to experience a bit of nature, and it's very close to Ballaly Luas stop and the Dundrum shopping centre.
