A mixed group of us came here for brunch on Saturday morning having made a reservation in advance. The menu was the usual brunch fare and with burgers for those so inclined. Some of the party ordered pancakes - judged pretty good, others opted for poached eggs with avocado - ditto - and I had the breakfast bap with scrambled eggs on the side. Bad choice. The 'bap' was basically a burger bun (I know this because one of the group ordered a burger and it was indeed the same bun on both). Baps should ideally be ciabatta although a baguette is not unknown or unwelcome. This was a slightly sweet burger bun. On this were two overdone rashers of bacon and a couple of hardened sausages, both of which I reckon has been cooked earlier and reheated. Garnish, if that's the word, was a sad and lonely half tomato grilled to death. For the price I would at least have expected a small salad of rocket or similar but no. The scrambled eggs were terrible - soggy and tasting of butter and grease. The coffee was good and strong, the service was friendly and attentive but the positives didn't even come close to canceling out the sad mess I received. I won't be rushing back. Should be one star but, based on my companion's verdicts I'm giving some benefit of the doubt.
