I went in to grab an assorted dozen for everyone at my work (for $9.99!), and I was not disappointed. They have both yeast and cake doughnuts, and they even had a huge selection at 6:00 at night! What a great find just driving by and stopped to get gas and noticed a donut shop. Had the maple bacon, apple fritter and blueberry with cream cheese icing. The donuts were very pillowy and the apple fritter was great!! Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area!! Can't wait to travel back through Lexington and get some great donuts!! read more

I would have never guessed that one of the best doughnuts I've ever had would come from a gas station doughnut spot in Kentucky, but it happened. Wow I wasn't sure what I was going to incover from the first time going in there. But I wasn't expecting a Gem in a Gas station. Everything is freshly made on site and they just sell them until they run out. Purchased their Bacon maple doughnut and it's soft and sweet and bacony goodness. Everything you would want in a bacon doughnut. I love how they incorporated a large amount of bacon on top of the doughnut. Also purchased a Cranberry muffin.. the flavor was amazing, not to mention how fresh, warm and soft it was. I will definitely return to this location for all my future doughnut desires, everyone who doesn't know they exist needs to go there at least once. read more

Their doughnuts are fresh. I got the plain original glaze which was airy, light and delightful. Tried the caramel glaze and vanilla cake donuts too. Each donut was around a dollar each. They did have day old donuts boxed up for half price. Don't be put off that it's in a gas station, the exterior doesn't do it justice! read more

I've lived in the Lexington area for 8 months or so and am definitely still figuring things out. Like Doughdaddy's. I've driven past it many times, and each time I've dismissed it as a gas station. A gas station with gas station donuts. Not appealing in the least. Boy, was I wrong. Doughdaddy's is a legit donut shop. The selection is amazing, much larger than most donut shops. The fluffy long John's (filled with white icing) are soft & fat & to die for. Maple glazed is the way to go! My boyfriend prefers the chocolate-iced long John with Bavarian cream. That you can also get a fill up for your car? Well, that's just a bonus. read more

I was visiting my girlfriend's family in Versailles and wanted to surprise them with a treat. I was about to make a 30+ minute round-trip to Lexington to pick up some North Lime doughnuts (I love them too), but then I saw a really good review of Doughdaddy's, just a quarter-mile away from the house. "Don't let the gas station fool you" is the best advice for this place. We picked up two dozen (24) doughnuts in assorted and awesome flavors. They even have a maple bacon doughnut that can contend against the best I've had elsewhere (i.e. Nords, or High Five's doughnut at Against the Grain in Louisville). The best part was the price. Take whatever you thought you'd pay for two dozen doughnuts and cut that in half. Now subtract five. That's about what you'll pay at Doughdaddy's. Best bang-for-the-buck doughnuts I've had. The take-away point: if you want to score massive points with your significant other's family, do what we did and get them Doughdaddy's. read more

Anytime I'm out between Lexington/Versailles, I'll make sure to stop and get Joe some cinnamon twists. It's the only place that I can find them and he says they're amazing. All of their doughnuts are amazing, really. They're over sized and overstuffed with delicious fillings. The prices are pretty reasonable and the store smells like fresh baked goods whenever you walk in. They also have hand scooped ice cream and tend to offer some unique flavors. So, it's always worth your time to stop in and see what's behind the counter. You'll be glad you did. read more

We have passed this place a few times since we moved to Kentucky and today we stopped. Couldn't believe how many different selections of donuts they have. They are so fresh. Used to have great donuts and the gas station and facilities were very clean and friendly staff. Recently the store original owner sold the place and the new owners have really let the maintenance go dramatically downhill. The men's restroom has a bag over the urinal, the door handle is falling off, flies all over a extremely dirty or and toilet. It's disgusting. The lady's restroom what from I've been told is the same. The fountain drink station ia dirty with noticeable dirty diposites of food mold on spouts where soda comes out. Lastly the workers are dirty, flour all over them as they come from back and man the registers amd then bsck to serving the pastries. They do not follow food safety and do not wash hands after working the register. They do not appear clean otherwise from their attire. Not friendly and certainly not the same type of vibe as the previous owners. 10 lost customers after our last visit. read more

As many times as I've passed this place, I've never stopped in. It was likely the gas station/food mart thing. The parking lot was full so I thought people must be on to something. What a sweet surprise! There was a large display of doughnuts -- too many choices. I'd been craving a childhood favorite -- a jelly doughnut. I have been a fan of Doughdaddy's for more than a decade. Lexington has great doughnuts, but I have yet to try a doughnut better than Doughdaddy's chocolate cake doughnut (they call it Devil's Food). I cannot pass them up! Just passing through and needed a pitstop...I'm soo glad we stopped here. This regular looking gas station became everything but regular the second you stepped out of the car. The amazing smell of freshly made donuts made me completely forget why we had stopped in the first place. I knew from the smell that I couldn't hit the road again without purchasing some goodies. And GOODIES they were! One of the best glazed donut I've ever eaten and the maple bacon ones were devoured before I even got a taste. We live in Louisville but my dad goes to Lexington sometimes for work. Every other week is "Doughnut week," which means a big 'ole box of Doughdaddy's for us to decimate over the weekend. We usually just get the plain glazed and chocolate frosted. They are especially amazing on the first day. Huge chunks of chocolate frosting falling off, squishy sweet inside and a very delicately crisp exterior...what else could you ask for? Louisville has some great doughnut shops, but Doughdaddy's still reigns in our house. read more

These are the best doughnuts EVER! They taste so fresh. This is exactly what I think a doughnut should taste like. They come out fresh every couple of hours so you don't have to worry about getting a stale doughnut. And they re-heat very well too :) The location is beautiful too, both inside and out. Convenient parking and no steps to get in the front door. Nothing like a fresh hot doughnut and they have great coffee too!! read more

This place gained some serious recognition when the New York Times mentioned it in its article about Kentucky's Doughnut Trail. Having eaten at nearly all of the doughnut shops on the trail, I think this one comes in near the bottom of the list. Don't get me wrong--the doughnuts are good. My parents love them, and I know Doughdaddy's has a loyal fan base. The doughnuts are, however, sub-par relative to local establishments like Spalding's and North Lime. Doughdaddy's strength is its excellent variety. Unfortunately it seems that quality suffers as a result of the focus on variety. But if you're on the Bluegrass Parkway near Lexington, Doughdaddy's is super convenient and worth the pit stop. read more

I'm shocked to see nothing but 4 and 5 star reviews. Maybe I went on an off day? I got a plain glazed and raspberry filled. My husband a maple longjohn. The glazed was so greasy I had to spit it out. It was like it had been soaked in vegetable oil - no exaggeration. The other two donuts were just average. The only thing they have going for them is the variety. I didn't count them, but they probably had 20 different ones. I'd take a free one with a tank of gas, but I won't be stopping just to grab a donut. read more

I stopped here this morning with the boyfriend. We each got a couple different doughnuts, my first was the raspberry jelly filled. It was a little dry and a little more like a glazed bread than doughnut texture. Boyfriend had a blueberry cake doughnut and said it okay. Next we both had Carmel filled long johns. Mine was chewy and not cooked the whole way through. Overall it was a disappointing trip into Versailles and we wish we had just stopped at dunkin. read more
