These donuts are absolutely phenomenal…read more Boxcar has a regularly rotating menu, but they do keep some staples as permanent fixtures. In terms of the permanent ones, I got the OG sprinkle and the apple fritter, which are my go-tos at donut shops. They were incredible. The donuts are massive, fresh, soft, and are bursting with flavour. They're the perfect treat. The rotating menu options I tried were equally as great. If you're someone who has a sweet tooth, you will definitely not be disappointed in their options. I'd highly recommend getting multiple donuts and sharing them with others so that you get a chance to try everything and see what you like best. Cheers. I didn't realize we had driven past it several times- it wasn't until I saw the chalkboard sign on side walk that it was BoxCar. It was on the chalkboard sign but not on the building itself. I believe it had name on the glass door but it is challenging to see when you're driving and trying to locate them without crashing into another vehicle. I don't recommend this place and would not return. I expected better quality and taste for the price paid.

During our holiday visit to London, our family recommended the Happiness Café. So one rainy…read moreafternoon we parked across the street hopped over some road construction and blew thru the doors. The first impression of décor and display, it is clean, intentional, thoughtful and cozy. We perused the menu and I decided on the fig and cheese croissant, accompanied by an espresso martini. We found our seats at a table and I could not take my eyes off the artistic desserts on display. One in particular was a tree ornament, made of cake, it was shiny and beautiful, almost too pretty too eat. Almost. My only regret is that I didn't enjoy one, but I was too full after lunch. Our meals were delivered to our table and even though I wasn't very hungry when we arrived, the look and smell of the food fueled my appetite. My croissant creation was filled with fresh ingredients and the decadent combination of savory and sweet hit the spot. The espresso martini was wonderful, even my picky husband liked it. To our delight, we had the opportunity to meet the owners, a husband and wife team. Both very stylish, with warm smiles and welcoming conversation. The wife is the pastry chef, I had to wonder if she ever had time to sleep considering the array of beautiful desserts on display and what it must take to perfect them, individually. We look forward to returning on our next visit to London hopefully during the warmer months to enjoy their patio, and THIS time, dessert first! And maybe second! Now that we are back home in Los Angeles, I find myself wishing we had a Happiness Café. I was in Beverly Hills yesterday at the Rodeo Collection and I visited a café with hopes that it might compare, but it was missing the warmth and artistry of Happiness Café.

When it comes to hidden gems in London this one has to be near the top of the list…read more I don't make it to often but every time I do I make a mental note to come back more often. Which I then promptly forget until the next time I am nearby. I have never not been impressed. The coffee, locally roasted is absoutley fantastic and only pales if you dare compare it to the freshly made baked goods: cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cakes pies ... the list goes on. They all look and taste amazing! They also have breakfast, sandwiches, soups and all kinds of entrées. While it is often overlooked from the outside it is cozy and wonderful once you enter. A lending library, board games and locally made products like coffee and honey await you inside. I'm actually leaving myself another mental note to return shortly - let's see if this one sticks.

Upon first glance, this place seems like a simple little bakery, nothing too special. However, they do have something pretty cool cooking up in store! Have you tried a bagel bomb!? No? Well it's essentially bagel dough wrapped around awesome filing to make a little ball of goodness! My friend and I both purchased a pizza bagel bomb. The girl at the counter was happy to explain all the different varieties but we couldnt resist the cheese, sauce, and meat that was waiting inside this thing. She heat it up for a little bit and also prepared us some wonderful Angry Alpaca tea (if you haven't tried this stuff yet, do yourself a favour and get some. It's local tea and it tastes AMAZING!). I loved the flavour of the pizza bagel bomb. They put some nice spices on top and the fillings weren't your typical mozzarella and pepperoni. I believe capicola and provolone as well? It was the perfect little pick me up since we didnt want a big lunch. The bakery was consistently busy! There was always someone at the counter but the service is quick. I believe La Noisette supplies bagel bombs to a few spots in London. I'll be happy to recommend them to anyone! I want to try the Nutella one next!
