B served me, and she was friendly and efficient. They make their own doughnuts and loaves. I got an apple doughnut. It was filled with apple filling, some cinnamon icing on top, and it was fresh and not heavy. As a tourist, I appreciated not feeling rushed. While the menu is a little limted, on top of coffee and lattes (my faves) they also have tea, wine, local craft beer and a selection of baked goods. I would also be remiss to not mention that the Old East Grocer is in fact at this same location. It is a grocery store that provides a much-needed oasis is this food desert and also strives to make a social impact is many aspects. It's in the Old East Village, past Adelaide St, and they're really revitalizing this area and I think it's wonderful, this establishment is located in an old warehouse, which was turned into Fire Roasted and the Old East Grocer. I came this afternoon for a Yelp event and I brought my mom. We parked in the back, since there wasn't any parking on the road, which was fine, you just have to pay to park. We walked into the place and Fire Roasted is on the left and the grocers is straight ahead. Smaller café, but there were plenty of tables and chairs available for our small event! I had ordered two small coffees for my mother and myself and we tried the bagel bombs they had, jalapeno, and garlic & bacon, both of which were delicious. I believe all the food items are outsourced, but they are delicious nonetheless. The actual Roasting plant is in the back of the building, I took a walk down to see what it looked like, and it was really interesting to see how they do it. This is such a unique building, and how they've renovated it to help revitalize the whole east end is amazing, bringing in the local business to help this area thrive again. If you want something more interactive than just sitting around with drinks, you can play games too, which makes it an especially fun option when you're coming with a group.
