So, I used to order pizza from their old location, which was the size of a closet. The pizza was ok. Nothing to go crazy over. Their new location apparently is much bigger. Has indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. (So I've been told) and the "Regular Food" reviews have been pretty good. My focus was pizza! And I had it delivered. It was very different. It had a "Commercial pizza" look about it. Was very salty, but still had that very odd taste like the last location? This pizza had a crust like a Neapolitan, but clearly was not. Much thicker this time as well. I'm still trying to decipher what that odd taste is? It's not a bad taste, just different and indeterminate. All in all, I'm NOT ordering pizza again. We just had an amazing date night here. They have parking in the back. Welcomed inside and seated promptly. We started with the rice balls. Amazing. Hubs had the old fashioned and I nursed my raspberry beret. I was happy. The chicken Marsala was great, the standout was the potato croquette which I loved despite hating potato croquettes. Hubby had the vodka sauce pasta with buratta. Everything cooked perfectly. Then...I had dessert. Not just any dessert, the special. First time at this location. The one that closed on Richmond road was amazing. This place is a major step up. Outdoor beautiful seating. High tops outside that face the inside of the restaurant and more seating inside with a full bar and large TV My first time didn't go very well. It's a good thing I opened my mushroom pie (to go) in the car. No mushrooms. Went back in. They sautéed up some mushrooms and this time the pie was covered with parmigiana cheese which ruined the pie for me. Nobody told them to add that. It's just too overpowering on pizza. Guys , you and Joe and pats are my only go to places in Staten. I'd love to come back but please be more careful. Theres parking in the back so trying to exit out there was a hand truck left in the way of the exit in the back. We were there about 4:30 on Sunday. Grandma's pizza was delicious, as was the fried calamari. Our server was so attentive and helpful with suggestions. Being native New Yorkers, we know pizza. My 2 friends and I dined there Thursday night to celebrate my birthday. we've been there a couple of times before enjoyed it . The food is good and the service ok. The problem was the gnats. At first we tried to ignore them but then one was in my friend's glass of wine . The waitress kept apologizing and gave her a new glass of wine but the gnats got worse. We told them we didn't want our food until we could move to another table . After 5 or 10 minutes they did accommodate us and moved us to another table and brought our food. Well, you guessed it. The gnats were there too. One man working there thought it was funny and made jokes when he passed by . we didn't think it was funny at all. I said something to the table next to us and they had the same problem. We finished our meal and they brought the check . No discounts. No free glass of wine. Nothing . This restaurant is so delicious. Pizza is on point. Ambiance is on point. My one complaint being a pescatarian, is about their Mac and cheese egg rolls. They are amazing, the one time they were able to custom make them without the bacon. But as their menu item standard it contains bacon. Why? Not everything needs bacon. We love this place and will continue to go but we would love to see this standard be changed to accommodate vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. read more
