We stayed here for 3 days. The facility is dated, and everything about our room is mediocre. The AC is loud! And on our last day in the morning, our water was shut off unexpectedly while I was in the shower. Luckily, I hadn't started shampooing my hair! Needless to say, none of us got to clean ourselves before checking out of the hotel. When we tried reaching the front desk to inform them about the water, no one picked up the phone. We tried texting the number they told us to text if we have any problems, there was no response. Needless to say, we had a terrible experience with this hotel. The fact that we paid so much and received this kind of poor service is very disappointing. We will not come back to this hotel again. read more

It's fine if you're okay with old and dirty. Think Motel 6 off the Highway next to a truck stop, but with a distant view of sailboats on the bay. We definitely would NOT recommend this place and are disappointed it's even associated with the Hilton. We won't be back - it's not worth the $220/night. See the photos for examples of the filth. Keep in mind, this is the visible dirt. Who knows what we cannot see. Tomorrow we check out, and we won't be back. Initial appearance of the property was very nice. Great setting with the harbor and SF in the background. Upon check-in, I noticed my rate was higher than the HH app showed and I pointed this out and the manager approved to match the rate. However at check-in, I was never thanked for being an HH member and never got my cookie...ha ha. Little things... I then went to my room, and was immediately disappointed...old and run down room. Definitely needed some updating. My balcony was a 1 foot slab out of the slider. No chairs or anything. However, I noticed other rooms had that. Overall there were several other issues with my room, but no need to add here. That night I decided to go down to the Boathouse Restaurant in the hotel, and oh my goodness...I waited for a very long time to get a menu, finally had to flag down the bartender to place my drink order, and waited another 30 min to get my dinner ordered. All said...I ordered 2 beers and a salad and my bill came to $50. I realize when you eat on-site to pay a little more for food and drinks, but they really get you at this hotel. Too many issues at this place for me to ever consider staying there again. Primary focus for this property should be room upgrades. read more

This was one of our worst hotel experiences. Our room was infested with mice. We watched them scurry across the floor & in the morning there were mice droppings everywhere: in the sheets, in our luggage, on the floor. They chewed a hole in my shirt! The housekeeping staffers told us not to bother changing rooms because mice were in all of them. The fan in the tiny bathroom was inoperable. Showers steamed up the whole room. That's what caused the mold problem on the bathroom ceiling. The front desk folks were somewhat sympathetic, but when we complained to the hotel manager and asked for a refund, he became very surly & defensive but offered us a small discount to avoid a scene at the front desk. Don't believe the hype about a "balcony"--it's so tiny you can't fit a chair on it. And to top it all off they now charge $40 a night for parking!! read more

I really wanted to give this place better stars. Really had high hopes. Attended a concert in Oakland and didn't want to drive home same night. Figure I treat myself to a nice hotel. Problem is the experience did not match the price. Had stayed at the DoubleTree in Chino and was expecting something similar if not better. Yet I got average if not below average hotel for twice the money. As many mention the road is rough (yet this isnt their fault more like the city of Berkeley) Got there ( lighting sucks. ) The signs can use more lighting, wasn't sure if I was at the right entrance until I got closer to the sign and saw the entrance to the hotel. Drove in to the parking area and well it was packed with cars. Drove to the back of the parking lot by building 5. Then walked all the way down to the main lobby entrance (although I had already checked in and had a digital key all doors along our walk said close to go to lobby entrance)( plus I would find out later the digital key wasn't working and regular key wouldn't open the door to building one first floor ) Anyways walked in and asked where 1307 was and she said to walk down to where the sign was and that the elevator would be there. *First off nothing is labeled, couldn't tell if that was the elevator - what threw me off even more was elevator was not working. Then the stair were not labeled so had to guess that that door behind us was the door for the stairs to go up. Walked up the stairs to the third floor * As we made our way up we could tell this hotel needs alot of TLC *Got to the room and guess what?!? The digital key did not work. . Walked all the way down to the lobby and I was given a card and told I'd get another digital key soon ( which I never got an email or notification for and digital key never worked ) * Finally after a LONG night I get into the room and settled in, tried to connect to WiFi because like other reviews mentioned ( internet -phone signal ) sucks here. 4g at best . But wifi did not work. tried everything followed directions on the key paper holder. Entered the promotional code ect. Nothing worked. I finally said F- it. And went to sleep. * Bed was one of the stars. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Cozy, soft and cuddling. * Woke up in the morning hungry and thirsty. After a long night I didn't want to get dressed up and go down stairs to eat. Yet there isn't a menu in the room and I didn't have enough info about the hotel restaurant to look up their menu. So we ended up getting ready for breakfast. * This is the other area where they get a star. The people that work here are super friendly and you could tell they care about their job. Yet honestly you do not get what you pay for. Also beware. Just because they say your getting a view doesnt mean ur getting the view you think your getting. Our view consisted of trees some boats and a little bit of bay, wasn't a GREAT view but the least of our disappointment. I would have been happier with a better overall experience without a view. This hotel was perfect for what I was looking for. For starters, the indoor pool and hot tub was amazing. It wasn't just a humid room with white walls and a pool like some other places. It was giving beach house vibes and I personally loved it. Another thing was the bed was sooo comfy. That's a huge plus for me. It wasn't super modern, a little outdated, but again giving those beach house vibes. We didn't get a view of the water but the court yard view was still pretty with all the trees and plants. They do come with balconies which I love as well, cough cough. The overall layout of the hotel can be confusing because they do have 3 separate buildings that you'll have to travel between after checking in. Although after check in you don't need to go back to the front and can park somewhere near your room. Parking is $30 a night but if you wanna risk it for the biscuit park at the marina behind the hotel. Just remember this is the Bay Area so do not leave ANYTHING in your car. Even if you do pay for parking at the hotel they cannot guarantee the safety of your car... what a way to ruin your trip. The restaurant is expensive for basic items but there is nice restaurants located at the marina as well. Hana Japan is my favorite, it's better than Benihana! Another plus of hotel is the outdoor seating and fire place, which is where I'm currently relaxing writing this review! Would definitely come back here giving the price is in the same ballpark as it was this time. (Other times it's been over $200 but I got this for $172) read more

This hotel was by far the nastiest place I have ever stayed. Mold on the curtains and the air conditioner. There were toenail clipping on the carpet. They had not vacuumed or wiped down the nightstand. The air conditioner made noise but kept the room humid. I told the front desk of my issues with the room and all I got was a "oh no". The maid came in the next dayan only made the beds and added clean towels. I found two mades in the hallway talking and asked if they were the one who cleaned my room and they pointed to a cart on the other end of the hall. So I went to the next maid and asked if if she cleaned my room and she stated yes. I asked her to please vacuum and had to show her all the spots she missed. I stayed there for a conference 7/15-7/18 and I have say I was shocked by the lackluster and carelessness of the staff there. Such a beautiful view wasted! read more

I tried ordering a meal from the hotel restaurant and asked if it could be brought to my room, they said no. We had to book through a third party instead of Hilton directly. The price was half. Very discouraging because we qualify for several of the Hilton discounts. Military, senior, aarp, aaa and honors member. Still twice as much as Expedia. We've been staying at this hotel when we're in town for the past 20+ years. It has gone so downhill, this will be our last stay. Parking is $42 per night. There are only double beds instead of queen size beds. It's tight for a couple. Our sliding glass door did not lock. Missing a trash can, no towels for third person, no tissues. The elevator was loud as well as the shower in the room above us. It was louder than showering in the room we were in. We had breakfast in the restaurant both mornings. Service was great, food was good, the first a.m., not so for day two. Service was non existent, never checked back on our meal which wasn't correct. The entire staff was very friendly, polite as well as helpful. (Even our server that disappeared) The furnishings and upkeep are old. The fixtures in bathroom were loose. It was a shame to witness how downhill the hotel has gotten and definitely way to expensive for what you get. read more

There's a lot to say about this property. First, when I am back in the area I will definitely consider other hotels before returning to this one. CONS 1)Everyone said it but the road is just plain awful. I feel so sorry for the employees of this property that have to drive down that road every day. We ended up having to drive on the shoulder each day to try to keep my daughters car from being just ruined. It is really really a deterrent for this property. 2) Wifi and cell service on marina side weak 3) Noise from parties that are taking place on the marina patio in the evening 4) Parking lot is $30. There is free parking just feet away on the other side of the street and close walking distance. They give you a ticket to put in your window and I'm not quite sure what purpose it serves. 5) FILTHY carpet. You'll see the staining in my pictures. I had to wear socks every day because I was really afraid of what I would pick up walking on that carpet. I don't know how they don't see that and don't have it cleaned. 6) Very soft pillows. I didn't think to ask if they had firmer pillows but they were so squishy and soft it's almost like laying on nothing. So if you like super soft squishy pillows you will love these. If you want a pillow with support bring your own or ask the front desk if they have any. 7) I chose not to get daily housekeeping so as an exchange I was given coupons for five dollars worth of Starbucks products from the café. I went to one morning to get a regular size cup of tea and it was $4.99. This is a $.10 tea bag and a $.15 cup that they are charging $4.99 for. It's ridiculous. That level of upsell is disrespectful. 8) No light on patio. So if you sit on your patio at night you will be in complete darkness. It would be nice to have a light as an option 9) The even numbered rooms face the parking lot. So you get a lot of parking lot noise in a parking lot view. My first night somebody was throwing a party and then shut off fireworks in the parking lot at 12:30 AM. 10) The screen for the patio in my room had holes in it. It would've nice to be able to leave the patio door open to get a nice breeze while sleeping but we were getting mosquitoes in the room. I don't even know what function that curtain serves. It doesn't give privacy it doesn't keep bugs out so I'm not sure why it's even there. 11) my patio had two holes in it that you can see through to the other patio below. 12) if you get a first floor room just know that that is a security hazard because anyone can jump the little fence to get into your room. 13) there's a caution sign on the stairwell door that tells you to open the door slowly. However, it's painted over so you can't even see what it says. On one occasion my daughter open the door quickly and almost hit someone coming down the hallway. I'm surprised inspectors allow this to exist. 14) The water in the pool can definitely be warmer and the entire pool room should be warmer given the cool evening weather in that area. 15) when I arrived in my room and open the refrigerator it was full of someone else's food. Eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, hot dogs, sauerkraut and pickles. I would expect that checking refrigerators would be a regular part of the role of housekeeping when changing guests 16) Old school thin walls, floors. You will definitely hear the conversations, flute playing (yup, we had that), and all other activity that creates "sounds" in adjacent rooms. PROS 1)View on marina side are beautiful it was nice to wake up to each morning 2) Cesar Chavez park nearby where you can walk, walk your dog, see ground squirrels, and watch the sunset 3) The staff is awesome. They were patient, responsive, and professional. 4) there was a water dispenser in the lobby that you can use to refill your water bottle each day. 5) pool is a great size for laps 6) of course the cookies. I particularly appreciate that when you go to ask for a cookie they ask you how many. I only got one or two each time. read more

Great customer service at the front desk but terrible house keeping and room! I'm attaching some pictures from our stay this past weekend at the Berkeley Marina Double tree. The pictures I'm sending are of the room. ( room # 3337) It was disgusting , and I cant even describe the odor of the room. It reeked like old sheets, musty mattresses and stale carpet. The air conditioning didn't work half the time, there was some mold and erosion on the outside unit located on the patio ( windows were dirty). We did not have a sheer curtain on the patio door , the curtain we did have would not close and was filthy. The head boards were stained, the bathroom floor was dirty, the vent in the bathroom was caked with so much dust and dirt and we also had ants everywhere in the bathroom. We asked for new pillows as well because the ones provided smelled of heavy body sweat and odors. We also had ants every where in the bathroom. Update: thank you David for replying to my review, the team at the front desk was made aware of all the issues I posted on this review, on the day of check in. They had great customer service but were only able to accommodate my 30$ daily parking fees. Which was appreciated but did not fix the room issue itself. read more

Checking in was easy, we were given cookies, and water bottles. The location of this hotel is perfect close to a near by park and state park. There is beautiful scenic trails with gorgeous views of the water. This is the reason for the 1 star. My family and I only stayed one night. The room was ok. Like other reviews, there is much to be updated and cleaned thoroughly. Sleeping at night was HORRIBLE. I didn't get a lot of sleep. A neighboring room was so loud: closing and opening the balcony door, laughing loud, loud sounds that echoed through the walls. This was all within a two hour span 2:30 to 4:30am. I called the front desk and complained. This is a non-smoking hotel, and I smelled whatever was smoked in the balcony in our room. Our balcony door was closed. When we checked out and walked to our car, we observed people in their 20s smoking weed on the balcony. This hotel does not reinforce hotel policies. I will not be staying at this location again. read more

Even though it was only one night in Berkeley for myself, I got a two bed room. The room was so spacious, everything I needed was there. It was actually very quiet. This hotel... well we have enjoyed staying here in the past and it wasn't bad . So we made another reservation to stay here August 17-19 ,2024 and were looking forward to it. But I tested positive for Covid on August 16th and we had to cancel our trip . I immediately called the hotel and was told " no problem we will cancel your reservation. " ok , no issue . Then I noticed that there was a charge on my credit card for $421 from the hotel . I immediately called the hotel back and was put through to a managers voicemail. I left a message explaining the situation. Next , I called my credit card , who also called the hotel and was put through to voicemail. This continued for ONE MONTH. No return call to me or my credit card . I've called so many times and been given the run around or left messages. Finally , my credit card called and said the hotel was now refusing to refund the stay ! So I called the hotel AGAIN , and was AGAIN sent to voicemail. No one from the hotel has ever responded to me and I'm still being charged for the canceled stay! Maybe they will FINALLY respond to me here?? We are Hilton Honor members. This week, I stayed at the Double Tree for a training/conference- the rooms are very clean and very nice!! I was on the Hilton Honors floors. The Bay View Grill opened this week- Very good food BUT they were out of SOOOO much beer, very very short staffed with just opening a new place and I was expecting more servers but they also did not have beer on tap.. 4 stars to the new renovated bar area, the room is so organized also has a mini fridge, the bed is so comfortable. Do not recommend staying here. We came for our child's graduation from Cal and could not be more disappointed. The ladies that checked us in were friendly enough but could not answer questions and we felt like we were rushed off. The rooms are VERY dated and not that clean. The room had two beds as we asked for BUT they are not queen beds. Maybe they are full size ?? Way too small of beds. We reserved a balcony room. What we got was a room over looking another building with a large window that opens to a small concrete area. I would not consider this a balcony I would consider it a ledge. You can't put a chair out there and sit. On top of that you cannot get a good nights sleep here. Between the sound of the elevator and loudest air conditioner ever you will not sleep. The parking lot has huge holes so be careful driving. Then the card key to get in and out never works do you have to call an attendant to help every time. For $35/night to park I would expect the gate to work and the asphalt to be better. I am a Hilton rewards member and expected better. I will be back in Berkeley to see my kid in future and will not stay here. I will also pass on to other UC Berkeley parents that there are better options than this place. Do better Hilton! read more

Pretty much everything. The first room I had, they sent us to a room that was not cleaned. We called them and they didn't have anyone on site to clean the room. So after the staff had to change our luggage to a completely different room, the tv doesn't work. Call to the front desk, and they say "sorry there's nothing that we could do about it, do you maybe want to switch room again?" Absolutely not. Walls are very thin. It is currently 1 in the morning and I am hearing multiple conversations. I am not going to recommend this place to anybody. I've been taken care of better at a freakin' motel 6! That's saying something. The only things that this hotel actually have as a positive point: the location, and restaurant/bar/gift shop stuff. In the future, If anyone tells me that they will stay here, I'm going to convince them otherwise. It's not unrealistic expectations. It's common sense. Going to give a tv in the room? Make sure it works. Going to put me in a room? Make sure it's clean. It can't be that hard to know what rooms have been cleaned after checkout time. If I could give it a zero star, I would read more

Terrible experience! Way overpriced! I needed a wheelchair accessible bathroom and got one about the size of a laundry room in an apartment. The view was nice. The breakfast at The boathouse restaurant was way overpriced! Minimum TV channels. Carpet was dirty. Workers we're nice. Parking cost 32 bucks. Now when I'm paying that much for a hotel room I'd expect parking to be free. Lack of luggage carts had us making multiple trips. The air conditioner barely worked. It was a hot day and when we entered the room it was 73°. I did love the way that the hotel lobby smelled. It was like a citrusy essential oil or something. read more

I've stayed here twice now in the last two months - we've had work trips/meetings here and while I think the idea was to stay somewhere pleasant and on the water, it's so far from the urban core of Berkeley. If you're car-less like me, then you're basically no where. Need cortisone because you're breaking out from some mystery rash (this is currently happening)? You cannot find a drug store in walking distance. Want to find a bakery or a dessert spot? You can't. The front desk staff this time is hit or miss on their demeanor. I also accepted a $25 early check-in charge this time, but I wasn't assessed that in February. I came at 9:30 AM this time and arrived at 10:30 AM last time. ??? The gym is suuuuuuuper limited (like 5 cardio machines and two weight racks), and the pool/hot tub/gym area closes at 10 PM. I f'ing hate that. I mean, I work till 7 PM, need at least 2 hours to lie on my bed and not talk to anyone and also eat dinner and then digest it ... and now I can't get into the gym. Last night one of the staffers came loudly in to shoo everyone out and as I had wandered in not knowing the closing time, he chastised me with a "It says on the DOOR". Also, there is no hotel guide/binder to give you details on the amenities, nor does the app tell you about closing times. It's all a complete mystery. The rooms vary muchly in their size and condition - this time I'm in a King bed room, which is smaller, and I'm on the third floor, so it has high slanted ceilings. I'm not sure if I like it or not. The room condition is fine, but it's been a while since this has been updated. The place actually feels kind of old, and I find it surprising for a Doubletree. The only pros of this place is that it is located by some epic green spaces and it might be a nice walk if it wasn't a high of 50 degrees with major wind along the marina. You can also take a 30 min walk to the nearest commercial center for food lol, but be aware that walking under the bridge is not particularly pedestrian friendly. There are no bikes also, though I did take the bus once. Additionally, the convenience store is well stocked and actually very moderately priced, so you can get some M&Ms, a coffee, or Haagen Daaz bar for just a little more than you'd pay at the drugstore. It also has microwaves and toasters so you could probably heat up some leftovers, etc. But you should just stay somewhere else altogether unless you have a car or you're looking to be somehow very close to city life but also very very far. My preferred hotel is the Oakland Marriott in Chinatown. read more

We had a great time. Stayed for two nights and was able to have a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. The staff is super friendly and the hotel is really clean. The waterfront view makes the stay just that much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying here, it's a bit pricey and out of the way (only by a few minutes), but it is totally worth it. read more

We could have complained, but it was all so bad, there wouldn't be a way to really make it better for the short time we were there. We were waiting so long in the lobby and couldn't even check in until after 4:00 because our room still wasn't cleaned. The room smelled musty and it was just an icky, grimey, dark space. There were holes in the fabric of the curtains and the carpet made my socks dirty. We could clearly hear slamming doors and people talking in neighboring rooms. My daughter went swimming in the pool and was somehow cut by a shard of glass that got stuck in her toe. There were only 2 little hand towels in the pool towel cupboard. Parking price is outrageous and any type of breakfast food is for an extra fee. Plusses: The view of the marina is nice and there are comfortable mattresses. Even though the connected restaurant was nearly empty, it was good food with a pretty view. read more

The 1 star is based on my experience with an event, my friend's wedding. All the attendees booked rooms and part of the plan was to have the rehearsal dinner at this hotel as well. Apparently some rich tech company then paid Hilton "a ton of money" (Hilton's words, not mine) and overrode our reservations so they could have the entire hotel to themselves. So for one of the three nights we booked, Hilton moved us to another hotel. At first they were still going to charge us the normal rate too, but after enough people complained, they agreed to comp the room. If I were just visiting the area for fun, I still wouldn't be thrilled, but we were all staying here for a wedding (kind of a big deal that's already stressful enough to plan). Hilton should really have some standards here. read more

While visiting Berkeley, I booked Double Tree including breakfast which cost extra. What interested me was the nice view of the Bay Area & the boats. Heading there was not too bad, but would be difficult driving at night. When arrival, the gentleman that check us in made it simple and had us in the 3rd floor in building 2. You can park in the valet or on the hotel, but there would be extra charge per night. Free parking is available across the hotel. We parked near the building so it would be easy to carry all of our stuff. The elevator smell pretty weird like someone just threw up. The room was decent. They included a safe, mini fridge, blow dryer, iron, etc. The view out of our balcony was the front of the hotel. What bothered us the most was the noise level. While resting on the bed, we can hear people talking from outside. Also when people close their room doors, it was really loud. It was pretty annoying when other people are arriving & checking in. Late at night it wasn't too bad. The stay was decent, but we did enjoyed the breakfast & the staff was very helpful. read more

Great location and wonderful staff. The hotel is in some serious need of renovation and the price certainly does not reflect that but the location is nice and easy access to the freeway. Our room was not cleaned well prior to our arrival with hair in the sink and obvious lack of attention to detail with the vacuuming and general cleaning. We had a bullet in our slider door for ambiance. The restaurant had okay food for breakfast but no staff working so it took quite awhile to get our food. The hotel has a great location but none of the rooms, at least from the feedback I got from the other 10 rooms we all stayed in, the AC does not work and no one could fix it. I was lucky to be on an upper floor to open a window but the breeze still didn't do the trick. The restaurant, The Boathouse has great food but the hostess, the one with the long blonde ponytail wig, has no, and I mean no understanding of what customer service is, I have never been treated and talked down to by anybody like that. One example is I went to join my team at a table by the bar and grabbed a chair from one of the many empty tables next to us. She, the hostess, came by and said "sir you need to put that chair back." I asked why and again she said " I told you you can't use that chair." She came back with one I could use but put it at the far end of the table away from me and said use this one. Everyone at the table couldn't believe how rude she was. On one occasion 2 people got yelled at because they were going to the bar, not a table, but the bar and she told them to come back, they just walked past her as she continued to yell to come back. It's not my style to leave a bad review, if I don't have anything nice to say I just won't write a review, but this time I had to. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is because I had a really great experience with the staff. Everything else was mediocre. I stayed here for three days and two nights for a work trip. The view and proximity to the marina (you're on the marina), is the only thing this DT location has going for it. The building and rooms need some serious renovations, and none of the three rooms I stayed in were clean (found wrappers, sand, and was just overall not very clean). My first room was in the first building on the first floor. After having been in the room for a couple of hours, the sink filled up with water and started overflowing. The staff got on it right away and moved me to another room. My second room was in building 3 on the first floor. I had safety concerns about being on the first floor with a sliding door accesible from the pool area, so I requested to be moved. Again, second room was not as clean as it could be. Third room was still in building 3, but on the third floor. The only change in the last and final room I stayed in were vaulted ceilings, which made the room feel bigger. Again, aside from the lack of cleanliness and serious upgrades the hotel needs, my experience with the staff was really pleasant. I have higher expectations from a DoubleTree, and unfortunately would not recommend staying at this location. I should've done some more research on parking, there's PLENTY of free parking across the street super close and within walking distance to the hotel. read more

The 2.9 rating is too generous. Horrible customer service. I requested early check in and I know is not guaranteed but they gave me a room and I was waiting for it to be clean. Then suddenly they gave my room away. Yes I noticed someone else take the room. Now they don't have another room for me but in the meantime they continue to give rooms away to others. I've been hearing for 4 hours. I already spent $230 at the restaurant and no one can help. As a good member I am definitely not returning. read more

I enjoyed my stay. My room was comfortable and clean, the room was a little outdated, but that didn't bother me. The restaurant was lovely, and my breakfast was excellent, one of the best Eggs Benedict I ever had. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful as the marina is right next to the hotel. There are walk and bike paths around the marina. The hotel staff could have been more friendly and seemed put out if I had a question or request. The Bellmen/ car Vallets were helpful and very friendly. read more

We stayed this past weekend. PROS: the biggest pro is how dog friendly it is. It was nice to be able to bring our dogs and be able to walk to a large and beautiful public park. Being on the marina was also nice. The room was simple and clean. Front desk staff provided were friendly, efficient and demonstrated excellent customer service. The restaurant food was delicious. CONS: Someone was having a hotel party and it was over the top loud. I couldn't believe it wasn't shut down. But maybe like everywhere else they are short staffed. We could hear people wasted right outside our window. A couple fighting, bunch of drunk kids running around yelling. It lasted until the early morning. At one point (3AM) I couldn't believe how loud it was and how it was still going on, it sounded like people were having a drunken conversation right outside our sliding glass door and I looked outside and they were. Some guy was wasted, in a drunk cry spiral and his two friends were talking to him and they were sitting on the patio chairs on our room patio. The party was upstairs so they must've decided to walk the noise around. It the morning there were cigarette ash, candy wrappers and clothes out on the grass. Little rest meant a miserable next day. read more

We have stayed here many times over the years and have generally enjoyed the location and love the indoor jacuzzi after a long day. Unfortunately we walked out to our rental car this morning and it has been broken into. The window was completely shattered and the car completely gone through. When I brought it to the front desks attention, the hall informed me there's nothing they can do. I asked if they had security around the complex for this type of prevention & was told they do not and there is nothing they can do. I was disappointed to hear this and very disappointed how this was handled. Homelessness is a HUGE issue in this area & this will not GREATLY affect my decision to stay here in the future. read more

We went to Berkeley Kite Festival 7/28/19. Great show, BTW ;-) We got a hotel room at DoubleTree Hilton at the Marina. It's ghastly in Napa. Only 77° high in Berkeley - way cooler! Big king bed, with super clean white sheets & bedcovers! Soft and comfortable ;-) Huge breakfast buffet. Options include fried rice and pork buns (Asian), eggs, bacon & toast (American), salsa, tortilla & sour cream, cheese (Mexican). Lots more! With our Hilton Honors we received free breakfast (buffet or menu), free parking and room upgrade. Really worth it ;-) There is a paved promenade going around the hotel and marina. Beautiful sea breezes. Just a wonderful overnight stay. This is our 3rd year staying here - or is it 4th? read more

It was really hard for me to give this place a good rating! Too many issues, but first I'll start with the good things. The view of the marina is amazing! There is plenty of parking and the restaurant is good and has great views as well. And now the bad! Well when we arrived the sink wasn't working. We called for the engineer and it took him 3 hours to come and fix it. The next day we took a shower and it was clogged ! Yup another issue! The engineer came in 20 minutes and yes he fixed it. Well after it getting clogged, there was a lot of residue in the tub. We asked house keeping to come and clean the room. We came in and nope, room looks the same. We called front desk and no one answered. We called again and were placed on hold for many minutes. It's late now so we're done with this place. Not sure this place deserves a better rating than 2 stars. read more

Great location, friendly service, and amazing cookies! I love Doubletree hotel so much because of their cookies! Upon entering, check in was simple and quick. They gave us cookies and complimentary water which was a nice welcome. We checked in around 9:00pm. When we got into our room, there was a broken lamp and a huge moth inside...yuck. We told our check in lady who had texted us to make sure our room was ok and within 5 minutes they sent a maintenance man to help us out. He was very kind and fixed our lamp and even attempted to try and catch the moth for us, which was kind of funny. Cool perks of this room: Patio is nice and overlooked the water. We had a double room. Bathroom was pretty clean and I really liked that I was able to use the stayconnect app to hook up my mobile netflix to the TV. If you are part of the Hilton honors, they also have a cool 24/7 snack lounge. Complimentary breakfast buffet was decent. Coffee and juice was good and the choices were pretty varied (eggs, bacon, dim sum, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt) Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel! read more

Sadly, so many issues with this hotel. First- we booked it for move in weekend for our daughter who was going off to college. The first night was about $187. We had to extend it by another night and they jacked up the price outrageously to about $500. This place is BARELY worth $150. Check in is at 4, not 3 and our room wasn't ready until 4:15. The woman at the front desk- first name starts with R, was unfriendly and rude. The saving grace was the extra attention and help given my managers Eric and Chris. The room was spacious- I'll give them that. We had the do not disturb sign on one day until 1 pm and then removed it. But no one came that day to clean the room. Because we had three people in the room, I called the front desk for an extra pillow and coffee at 7 pm. By 9 they still hadn't come. When I called again- they did send someone right away. The gym situation was the worst. The weight room was so small that at one point there were 5 people and none of us could move. My husband just took weights outside. There are only 4 cardio machines in a separate room. In the weight room- the AC had an "out of order" sign both days, and they have a very dangerous drain in the middle where the floor isn't flat. That's a rolled ankle waiting to happen. Both areas are around an indoor pool- where water is splashed EVERYWHERE. The "special room" where you can use a printer, get water or snacks was appalling. There were gross snacks that came out of a dispenser spilled everywhere. We also saw a skunk just roaming around outside. The marina is pretty. Too bad the hotel was not nice. read more

We, my husband and I, have checked in this specific Hotel during the last 12 months and have yet to make a complaint! Our rooms are always very clean, both microwave and mini frig in every room, courtesy coffee and coffee maker. Their daily morning breakfast, included in price, is well worth. On a most recent trip, 10/01/22, I failed to book my first night and had a horrific experience at Motel 6 in Pinole, CA. Once I bought my breakfast at Denny's $20 plus tip $5.00, Holiday Inn Express in San Pablo is always a well worth reservation. Parking is free!!! read more

The Double Tree Berkeley Marina was just fine. I studied the maps from wonderful yelpers, used digital check in and digital key so arriving at 11:30pm was a breeze- I didn't have to talk to anyone- thank you yelp! Cons of the stay: 1. As other yelpers mentioned, the card keys don't work. I asked for one so I would not have to unlock my phone every time I drove in/out. I went to the front desk 3 times and it never worked. 2. Layout: if you are not travel savvy the layout can be frustrating (I.e. My husband) 3. Walls are super thin. Do not stay here when the Raiders have a home game. Like motel thin. 4. Road to hotel is crazy terrible. It's comically bad. Someone has got to repave that. 5. The maintenance team here stinks. I know the trouble of hiring blue collar work in the Bay Area, but they are obviously getting the bottom of the barrel here. Our vent fan didn't work, our toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall, the closet doors had the wrong color touch up paint, just a terrible impression Ok, now the good which to me out weighs the bad: 1. The view though... get a water facing room 2. The Hilton Honors Lounge is great here! Water bottles, hot coco, snacks, coffee. It's secure and centrally located but hidden in a good way. 3. Pet friendly and nice little paths around 4. Big rooms with cute art. 5. Digital key worked great 6. Location is central to the east bay but makes you feel like you are off on an island. I would stay here again... when the government admin changes and they can hire better maintenance, it would be 4 stars, maybe. read more
