Easy check in process, 24-hour front desk, friendly and helpful staff, free parking on site (also street parking right next to the hotel if the small lot is full), clean room (carpet, bedding, bathroom, etc.), mini fridge, microwave, temperature control (heater and AC), hair dryer, iron and ironing board, ample lighting, working outlets, hangers in a dedicated closet space, bed not the most comfortable but it was good enough considering everything else about the hotel was pretty decent and at such competitive pricing ($100 per night on a weekend). Gotta give 5 stars, based on overall value.

I feel relatively safe here. It's not situated in the nicest part of town. If this hotel was in any other city in the world the nightly cost would be $85. We paid almost $400! I'm not sure where that money is going.. not to the sign in the front of the building. Not to the old office you check in at. There definitely no breakfast. There's definitely a crack in our door so I see light through the edge. The paint in our room is definitely coming off. If you are coming out of town- lower your expectations. It's fine- but definitely not great.

Hey yo - small room, kid working semi nice, semi service- a smidge + 3 better than the Phoenix

I've been eyeing up this motel for years I tell ya years. Old Man Harry was always busy - filled to the brim he would say - I swear - he would yell "I'm filled to the brim and we can't take no more!!" Pandemonium was my chance - wait, opportunity to experience everything I was missing. yes. Not missing much as you guessed before you started reading. It wasn't horrible, no bgs, I had young Mom's with babies next to me, a couple boyfriends were in there too - all nice kids er young people. The TV was a pain in the ass and the young man that works there was nice enough - kind of impatient and annoyed by it all like all of us, no one has told him to grin and bare it like we do everything else. So nice-ish guy, I called 3 times - password, 2nd chair - I even offered $20 for me and Paulie D to have a 10 feet apart distance dinner. Known this guy since Kindergarten and the young'en in charge says all I can do is lend you the high barstool from the office. I said okay but you have 8 or 9 rooms sold, there's at least that many that no one is in, we could use one of those chairs. We Do Not Bend The Rules - homie it's pandemic shuffle time, wear a mask, and new gloves for each outing, spray sh*t down and keep doing something. Take Advice from a Crazy Man - why not? It's ok - price wasn't that cheap, nothing ever is if it's below 95 then you're paying for a lot of stuff, including staff that's just okay. They usually charge a parking fee, too small, the bed isn't good enough to not have a box spring - etc etc etc.

Good, basic motel that has been updated with better interior cosmetic renovation since when I first came here back in the late 1990's. But back then it was closer to the Bates Motel of Alfred Hitchcock fame. For me, I'd rather spend $600 for a meal at a trois étoile Guide Michelin restaurant than spend that much for an overnight stay in a swanky hotel especially when all that I would do is sleep there. Price is better than most in its class, but definitely not for tourists since it is in SOMA, far from any spots catering to the tourist. I use Bay Bridge Inn since it is convenient to the kind of esoteric shopping & entertainment venues that attract me within walking distance. Particularly convenient for those who like an edgier night time scene.

This is one of the most convenient spots downtown San Francisco. I stay here frequently, the rooms are always clean no problem easy access to stores near by all walking distance.. for the most part safe places. The staff Martia, David and Gil very friendly and helpful especially with locals places near by to eat good not too expensive food. Again I'm here quite a lot and enjoy my stay 5stars

Room 212. Ridiculous amount of mold under the a/c. December 2013.

$69 room rate special, one Queen bed, wIth taxes came to $80+. They wanted an additional $17 for a room with two small beds. Construction going on at the hotel in two of the 1st floor rooms, started early. One set of motel stairways closed down because the steps were broken. See attached photo for the ridiculous amount of mold in the room. Old Shag carpet. Clean towels and clean shower. Mosquito buzzing my head all night. Thumbs DOWN.

Parking lot in front.

We booked three nights here after reading the good reviews and good price (in mind that it is San Francisco and therefore won't be cheap anywhere). Our room on the second floor was very clean, the whole bathroom seemes to be completely new! Room was cleaned and bed made every day. The location is one of the main reasons we would stay here again,it is a ten minute walk to Market street, where we had great breakfast at Homeskillet, took trains and buses or went shopping. At night you 'll hear the traffic of harrison street, but it's ok, that is what you expect sleeping downtown.Included parking space is also great. The host is such a kind man and always willing to give tips and recommandations. Good luck finding a better room in better location, with better service and better price at the same time.

The hotel has two restaurants, one for breakfast and one for bar and dinner. But there are so many good restaurants nearby as well. Convenient. I checked in late in the evening during a holiday weekend, and it was busy. The front lobby had two people checking in guests. When it was my turn at the counter, we were checked in pretty quickly and given a run down of the layout and weekend activities. Fresh water is provided right by the elevators so you can fill water bottles before heading to your rooms. And in the morning, hot coffee is provided right before you head out for the day. Pretty thoughtful. My stay was two nights, and the first night the street music and sounds came thru loud and clear. But the second night, it was quiet outside. So it's unpredictable if my stay would be relaxing or nerve racking. The room for 3 was a good size with a large bathroom, large windows of street view, and sizable writing desk, and arm chair. I got to use the gym once and it had all the general equipment and fairly large room. Upon check out, we received the kid welcome gift which was supposed to be at check in, but check in was chaotic so it was better late than never. And the staff were all very nice and friendly during our stay. We would come back to this location if we get the chance again.

The parking situation is terrible, though, and that's why I can't give this fabulous hotel 5 stars. There are only 10 parking spaces in the basement for the whole hotel and they are TINY and cramped. It also costs $109 to try to self park, which I wouldn't have even complained about the cost if they had parked it for us. The parking garage is stressful to say the least. If you're not coming into the city on bart or ride share, you might want to look into parking garages in the area and prepare to walk if you get there late. Anyway, on to all of the great things. The hotel is clean and the rooms are big. Hotel staff is AMAZING! I've never come across a hotel in the city where every single person is warm, friendly and smiling *all* the time. They accept cash at the market (there's a little area by check in to buy snacks and toiletries) and I assume, probably at the bar as well. They have a beautiful patio area with a long fire pit and lots of places to sit. There's a rooftop lounging area on the 9th floor with the best views of the street and front of Oracle park. And, lastly, breakfast was one of the best free hotel breakfasts I've seen. Sausage, egg bites, potatoes, a bread station, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and oatmeal. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things because it was big. I enjoyed my plate and also loved how close we were to the bay bridge this morning. It only took 5 minutes to get on the bridge to go home. That alone is worth every penny for the stay. We will definitely be booking here again!

They always remember that I love to have a tea kettle for my evening hot tea, So they have it sent to my room as soon as I arrive. I always get a king room and I've stayed on so many floors, The rooms are consistently clean and well maintained. I've never had a bad room experience in all of my stays. That has a lot to do with the amazing housekeeping crew. They come in daily to refresh and reset the room, So when I come in, the bed is made, the bathroom is refreshed everything is in place and reset. Not once have I ever had to ask for anything to be sent up to my room. It's all already taken care of. And let's talk about the breakfast setup! Because this is one of the best hotel breakfast I've ever had in my life. There's a hot bar with bacon, sausage and potatoes and eggs and it rotates daily. There's a yogurt bar with fresh fruit and even hard boiled eggs, there's always oatmeal with toppings. There's a center island filled with all of the carbs you can think of even tortillas. The bananas are always just ripe and that's rare. And there are two coffee stations one by the breakfast area and one by the front entry. I love the coffee! I really like the walkability of this hotel too! It's only a block from my office and very close to Oracle stadium as well as being close to the embarcadero walkway. I cannot say enough great things about this hotel and the crew. I love staying here and will always highly recommend this location. Tell them that I sent you! I want to say kudos to the leadership team because whatever you're doing, It's working and it should be duplicated in other hotels. See y'all next month!

You can also easily walk or do mass transit to other places - I did a walk up to the Painted Ladies and then hung out a bit in the lower Haight and then easily walked back down to this area. The establishment also has a kitchen area so you can go pick up sundry and supplies at the local Trader Joe's (just 2 or 3 blocks away) if you want to limit how much you spend eating out (something I plan to do next time) and the kitchen has free tea and instant coffee so the basics if you want to ease into your day. If you want the full "bathroom in my room" sort of thing there are other places but this is my 2nd time here and it is still great - there are stairs and no elevator so keep that in mind but the price versus location is wonderful - if noise bothers you, then bring ear plugs for the weekend - not super loud but if you are not used to noise, it might keep you up a bit - but I've found it to be a super safe area - you can catch the Bart most of the way (to the civic center) and then you catch the 21 3 stops to this location. Do note, you don't have someone on staff there but available by text and you use a key app, that they notify the day you are checking in - which I think works well - it is nice to have an affordable way to get out of the heat in Phoenix, especially in the summer, and I'm not looking for a resort experience but a place to lay my head and keep my stuff while I go enjoy the sights and sounds, and amazing food and drink, of the local area.

When I asked about this price discrepancy, they just replied with "the prices change everyday". It's not even worth staying here anymore. The bathrooms aren't kept up as well, there's no front desk, and no breakfast spread. $535 for 3 nights vs the 410 that it was listed for? They're trying to take advantage of the fact that I booked non-refundable! Those that a hotel of this level is an infrequent splurge, or stay here with tempered expectations, may find it satisfying depending on the rate/perks you got. We paid a little over $300 a night including all fees/taxes but as AMEX Platinum members got extra credit and perks so our total credits/perks were worth about $300 total for the two nights including an $80/day breakfast credit. So it was about like staying for $150/night with no credits/perks. Given location/amenities, I think up to around $200/night would be a fair discount rate (as of Summer 2026) Location: is good for tourists and the area in general feels safe and clean as the city has cleaned this area up a bit from previous years. Parking: $94 a day for valet (no self park.) Yep, welcome to Downtown San Francisco. You could valet park in the small garage across the street for $32 but no in/out privileges. Lobby/Check-in: It's an atrium style hotel with lobby on the 3rd floor. Check-in was easy. Lobby is nice with a bar and lots of seating with a whole other seating area to the side and behind the bar. They have their climate control too cold though in the Lobby. Dining: There's only one restaurant at lobby level with just a view of the building next door. Prices are very high but short of outrageous considering you are in a JW in the middle of San Francisco. We thought it would be hard for 2 people to use the $80 credit for breakfast. Not so when average breakfast entrees are in the $33-$38 range. We also ate dinner in the restaurant. The food for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. Not Michelin Star level of course, and overpriced, but actually pretty quite good for a hotel restaurant. Note there is a setup for a Buffet Breakfast (were told it is $52/person when open) but they didn't run it on Saturday or Sunday so there was a bit of a wait to get a seat in the restaurant for breakfast. Rooms: Rooms are decent size and well-furnished in good condition but although they don't feel outdated, they feel a little 'tired around the edges' so to speak. If you want that freshly renovated feel, you won't get it here. Bathroom size is going to vary as our large corner room with a sitting area with table had a very small bathroom and our neighbors had a smaller room but with a decent size bathroom. Street noise was minimal on the 12th floor but if you are sensitive to the noise, I wouldn't go any lower than floor 10. Views will vary but likely will be of the side of another building through what I call 'prison windows' which is a smaller than average window opening inset within a concrete looking surround. Bed was comfortable, mattress was good but felt slightly stiff/tired as though it was probably getting near then end of its lifespan but still quite comfortable. Linens very good. So overall good beds but nothing to write home about. I had read the reviews and although I typically stay in this level of a hotel I had tempered my expectations and so the stay was satisfying and served its purpose with no unpleasant surprises. If you want to be less prone to having an overcharged feeling: a) Use valet across the street or SpotHero app to find cheaper in/out parking nearby (if you have a car) and b) don't bother eating/drinking in the hotel -- go elsewhere to non-hotel restaurants to eat and drink.
