I went to farewell event and ambiance was amazing. When entering hotel, they had a pool and they had great food, such as sliders, nachos and tacos.

I was surprised to find such a lovely and unique hotel in the tenderloin, but the Phoenix Hotel is like its own little world. They do pool parties and events here, but we enjoyed our stay without all that. The service was friendly and efficient, no problems finding parking in their private lot or getting checked in on a Saturday afternoon. The courtyard is chic, with plenty of seating for lounging around the pool which is heated and closes at midnight. There are seats and tables outside each room, and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide an awesome setting and ambience, with red lighting above the beds, and all necessary amenities for a pleasant experience... temperature control, comfy bed, ironing board, hair dryer, clean towels, closet space and hangers, large flat screen TV, sufficient outlets for charging phones, plenty of lighting, and extra tables/seating inside the room. If I am nitpicking, I'd say there was a lack of counter space in the bathroom and no hardware for hanging towels, but we managed. Plus there was beautiful artwork both inside the room and throughout the premises, as well as a great bar and restaurant on site.

Stayed for a Saturday evening to Sunday noon for a music event at bill graham. Close enough to walk to the venue or take a cheap Uber. Free parking which isn't offered at many inner city San Francisco hotels, or cost a daily premium. Retro interior both at the check in booth and the interior atrium area surrounding the pool. They had a flamingo float for use aha I love it Considering I've spent the same for a night for SKETCHY hotels I felt not only comfortable parking here but also staying here. Definitely added to one of my potential go to San Francisco options. Shout out to the gentleman in the morning with the glasses. I also had a hotels app bonus giving me a food/ drink credit They honored that for me and provided me some snackies for my weekend. 12/10 for this place lol the Phoenix was amazing!! I didn't swim but pool looked amazingly clean/maintained.

Cute day/pool party Usually get the rooms when it's hot and over crowded. Good music and vibes. Parking is $25 for hotel guests. Security on site. In the TL

My trip to San Francisco was a long time coming; I had originally planned this trip for July 2020 but then something called COVID happened which put this on the back-burner until this summer. I had planned to stay at the Phoenix Hotel back in 2020, so to make things easy I decided to keep the same accommodations and just rebook for this year (also helped that I thought this place looked super cool). Like most of my hotel reviews, I'll break this down into pros and cons - so here we go! Let's start with the pros. History and aesthetics are definitely a pro for me - historically the Phoenix catered to touring musicians, and as such the hotel is rock music themed. The entire vibe is alternative, but it's also accessible to a majority of lodgers. From what I can gather, the Phoenix looks like a converted motor lodge - there are only 40ish rooms spread across two levels, but it has been completely updated and looks great. I also gather that this is somewhat of a party hotel - this definitely attracts a young crowd, and the hotel hosts pool parties and has a roster of musicians and DJs that perform (though I did see families during my stay here too). All of the rooms line the perimeter of a lovely courtyard which contains different types of lounge chairs, tents, tables, and a heated pool. Rooms are another pro for me - they're not the most high end rooms (this is not that type of hotel), but have everything one would need: comfortable beds, a TV, a safe, an iron, as well as laundry service which I did not expect. Housekeeping is available, though by request only (which I find to be the norm post-COVID). Extras are another perk - their on-site restaurant, called Chambers, serves good drinks surrounded by awesome aesthetics - they also have a second bar area which I assume serves for musical performances and DJs. The lobby also has some merch and snacks available for purchase. For cons, there aren't many - though the most noteworthy one is location. The Phoenix is located in the Tenderloin, which is not the best part of SF. This is not an area where I would walk around at night, which limits what you can do if you're the type of person who likes to roam around your hotel's vicinity in the evening. That being said, the Phoenix does an excellent job with safety - they have someone at the front desk 24/7, the courtyard/room area remains locked all the time and is only accessible via your room key, and they provide a safe place to keep your car since break-ins are apparently a real issue in the city. I never felt unsafe during my stay here, much to the credit of the hotel staff. I want to close this by again giving credit to the staff at The Phoenix - Orlando and his team do an excellent job providing a cool place where you can relax and enjoy your time in SF. Every staff member we encountered were warm, friendly, and eager to help. That, combined with the vibes and accommodations make the Phoenix a standout among its peers.

An oasis in the middle of the TL. Excellent party venue with an awesome retro feel. Full bar and restaurant, heated pool and good vibes. Staff keeps the property secure. Check it

Had a nice little staycation over the Halloween weekend. Check in was extremely easy and staff was friendly. The room was clean and cozy. The space heater worked very well on a chilly night. The bed was comfortable and I slept well though the night. I didn't get to try the heated pool but it looked clean and others seemed to enjoy it. Prices were reasonable for SF. My only downside was the music playing very loudly outside facing the rooms - there were no guests in the outside area to enjoy it and it was extremely loud until almost midnight. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

Welcomed like VIPs again at this super comfortable hotel. Staff is on point and super friendly. Room is clean, has all amenities and a super nice bed. Woke up super hungover and dove into the pool, it's heated to about 90 degrees. Their restaurant is first class, although we didn't dine there this time. Will always make this our place to stay in San Francisco. Our favorite bar, Emperor Norton's Boozeland is across the street.

From the parking lot- it had a fence around it so couldn't see the people living on the streets and our car was safe.

I was hesitant to stay here but it was close to where I needed to be for the weekend and the reviews helped. Rooms were clean and big, we had an emergency so we went from 2 people staying there to 5 and it worked out fine. Beds were comfy and big enough for two people each. Cute "Palms Springs" vibe to the whole hotel. The front staff were friendly and very attentive, love that they had coffee and donuts for us in the mornings. Not sure if they do that every day but we lucked out with that service. Due to the emergency, we had an extra vehicle and we were able to pay for one night in the parking lot, even though it was extra. Parking was $25 plus tax a night but waaaaaay cheaper than the surrounding hotels that charged $50-80 a night. Super nice and helpful staff. They do have events here, which is cool but not cool if you need to get some sleep. Just bring ear plugs like I do and it's fine. I enjoyed our stay. The place is surrounded with the unhoused and addicts but the parking lot and hotel felt like a little safe haven amongst the yuckyness around the city. Big props to the staff!

A recent trip down to the city that had been put off for months, I was looking for a location that was relatively easy access to my next morning appointment, the parking overnight wasn't $60 bucks and the bed comfortable. After reading several good reviews over a variety of review platforms, this place seemed to be a good fit for my needs. What a throw back to a much cooler, hipper time in our country. The Phoenix is just one of those places, in the middle of everything in the tenderloin, its easy to drive or walk right past it as its that unassuming. Pulling into the small private parking lot, the check in "window" is how you do it nowadays with the pandemic still an issue. Once checked in, your key through the only access gate allows you inside the interior sanctiuary that is enclosed. All rooms on both floors are basically "poolside" by definition. With all rooms doorways opening to the interior courtyard and pool area. The room was updated throughout and the bed comfortable, the only negative for room amenities missing - no mini fridge? Original artwork on the walls and that old school rock n roll feel is all around. This retro building has that true o.g. feel. The room was comfortable for overnight, the bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water the next morning. The rooms all have old school crank case windows and full glass windows on the front which is cool, but the noise level can be excessive as they do not block any of the outside sounds, footsteps, voices, luggage rolling on the walkway, its obviously loud. Ear plugs at night are a good idea if you are a light sleeper. The outside interior poolside courtyard is very comfortable and relaxed, even with people around, social distancing was easy given the sheer size of the space and all of the cool little areas to sit and enjoy the sunshine and day. Checking out was easier then checking in as you can actually access the front desk once inside the compound, via a door and under face covering. I was able to check out in a couple minutes that nexy morning and back on my journey. A big plus to this particular hotel is the free parking included with no reservations on a first come first serve basis. I literally parked within ten steps of the gateway. And, in a city where parking at the average hotel costs $45 bucks to upwards of $75 a night to park your rig... this is a huge benefit. 3.5 Stars - it may not be in the "best" part of the city but its hard to beat for price and comfort and I rounded up for the free parking thats included. 00706

The check-in process was smooth. The front desk was very helpful in getting us in and filling out a card authorization form. We were surprised by the valet price however - $90 is definitely high. There is no self parking but the prices for the lots nearby are just as high, if not higher for overnight. We really enjoyed our room. It is definitely not the most spacious but felt quite luxurious. We booked a double queen room and were placed in Rm 920. There was limited walking space around the ends of the beds and desk. There was a beautiful view of the courtyard and city. I love that the room was very well-lit. There is ambient lighting and brighter lights you can turn on next to the beds. My friends and I loved the window that separated the bathroom from the sleeping space. It was quite comical and made getting ready for a night out very fun. There blinds for both the bathroom window and outside window were motorized which was a nice touch. The beds were pretty comfortable but nothing too special - I appreciate them having a bunch of pillows. The mini fridge and coffee bar felt pretty luxe and were much fancier than those are other hotels I've stayed at. There were plenty of outlets throughout the room and next to the beds. The whole vibe of the hotel feels very sleek and modern. The hallways are lit with a ambient blue. The inside of the elevators are themed which is super cute for pics. The gym is very nice too, loaded with more than your typical treadmill and elliptical. The lobby felt clean and had little robot things scooting around that apparently are used for room service. I would definitely stay here again so I can explore what I didn't get to see on my short stay!

However, from the very beginning to end ranged from confusion, annoyance, to plain nightmare. The check in process was confusing and and cumbersome. I was given no check in information, and there was no front desk. The intercom at the front door did not even work, and I had to call their actual "front desk" who apparently said they did not have my information on file and made me go through these annoying steps just to find my hotel room key in a lock box. The most frustrating and nightmarish experience came the next day when I lost the hotel room key (a physical key). I called the "front desk" several times but received no answer then finally got one after about 10 minutes. When I told the man at the "front desk," he told that he would have to speak to the housekeeper. After waiting for another 10 minutes, he informed me that I would be getting fined $200 for the lost room key, which is plain ridiculous, since they didn't have a replacement key (other than the housekeeper's key). I understand a $25 or $50 fee for a lost key but $200 for a freaking key???! After waiting for about 40 minutes total, he finally walked over with my replacement key and begged me not to lose it since that would mean the housekeeper can't even get in (how laughable). What's worse was that the other guests were able to use their phone or a passcode to get in since all the room had e-locks. When I asked the man at the "front desk" why I needed a physical key, he said that not all of the e-locks were working--including the one for my room. What a load BS. A horribly dingy hotel that can't even get its most basic sh*t together. Stay at this incompetently run hotel at your own risk or better yet find much better options.

Amazing Service. Good Value. Butler Service…read more I came to the Bay Area for a relative's 80th birthday and booked The St. Regis because it was the only Forbes Five-Star rated hotel in San Francisco. I'm usually hesitant to stay at American hotel chains' "luxury products" because they often just feel like Marriotts with nicer tile (most new Ritz-Carltons, for example). I found the St. Regis to actually offer the kind of luxury service that is often missing in American hotels. I arrived fairly early, around 11:00 a.m., and the staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating both an early check-in and late check-out, along with a room upgrade. Prior to this stay, I didn't really understand the purpose of butler service, but they were kind enough to gift-wrap the presents for the birthday party I was attending while I booked a massage and walked around the city. The spa at the St. Regis is fairly large, with an indoor heated pool (well designed), a gender-separated steam room (out of order during my visit), and a sauna. I will say the spa could use an expansion or renovation. The "relaxation room" felt a bit like a repurposed salt room, and the men's lounge basically just had tea and snacks. The massage itself was great, and everyone there was extremely friendly. What really impressed me was the service. I casually asked whether they had bath salts available for use in my room, and within 30 minutes of leaving the spa, bath salts, bubble bath, and bottled water were delivered to my room without my needing to make a special request. Great attention to detail. I walked through the gym and it seemed large enough for a full circuit workout, with plenty of equipment. I do wish the hotel had more dedicated lobby or guest lounge areas. The check-in area, bar, and restaurant all seemed to blend together into one shared space, which felt fairly busy in the evening when non-guests came in for happy hour. The bar was nice but honestly expensive and not especially memorable. I was a bit surprised by some of the clientele (there were what I assumed to be a couple "working ladies" at the bar who I wonder if their services were less than the cost of breakfast in hindsight), though very friendly occasionally felt slightly out of sync with the otherwise polished atmosphere of the hotel. I didn't try the restaurant for dinner. The hotel does offer a complimentary car service around the local area, though unfortunately it was booked when I needed it. Breakfast was expensive, easily over $100 per person for a fairly normal order, but it was very tasty. The Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked and included truffle, which was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. I do think it could have used a deeper scrub, though I admit my standards may be skewed by an exceptional housekeeper at home. There was also a slight musty odor. It was not on the level of a room at an average Belmond property or the former Mandarin Oriental Miami, but it was spacious and perfectly comfortable for one person. I'm not entirely sure whether St. Regis considers itself directly competitive with those brands. In summary, the service is what makes this hotel worthy of five stars. They seem genuinely happy to accommodate nearly anything you might need or even casually mention wanting. Personally, I find San Francisco itself dirty, stressful, expensive, and rough around the edges, so having a hotel that felt calm, polished, and attentive made a huge difference in my trip.

The park is clean with lots of grass. This was one of the deciding factors of us picking this hotel because it's hard to find grass area in the city. They allowed me late check out at 5pm which is awesome!! Also, they have a chi hair dryer which is very powerful. Location in Financial District is very central to a lot of eateries and next door to Soma.

Not sure who the GM is, but they need to take a bow for creating and maintaining a culture of pride and excellence. The staff is happy to be here and it shows in every small detail. The staff made an ordinary stay an extraordinary guest experience. If you are trying to determine where to stay in SFO, look no further!

The hotel used to be quite a few other properties, so while they may have decorated it, it's not the luxurious experience we've had at other hotels. The views are to die for, we had a room that spanned windows from Golden Gate to Bay Bridge, it was amazing being on the 45th floor and seeing the night sky and morning sunrise. The property doesn't really have a real lobby, spa, and the restaurant is average, as in the quality of the food was just not top notch, and they have access to the best ingredients. They only have two elevators and are quite slow, at a busy time this can be quite annoying. The room itself was small, no real furniture, would have been nice to have a sofa and table with two chairs. There was no dresser. The bathroom was great for one, but small for two. The shower didn't have a bench, no his or her's sinks. The bed when we got into it was super soft and not supportive, when we called they did something really odd and put a board on the mattress and then a topper. I guess they have a guest that asks for this. Why didn't the service people know they have a firm version of the mattress topper they could have switched for us. We didn't have the best sleep. Again, usually the Four Seasons beds are amazing. While this property doesn't charge regular Four Seasons prices, it also doesn't deliver the experience and it would be a shame if the brand started doing this.
