Accessible bathroom?
Leslie K.

We ordered thru Hilton as we are HGRV members and requested an accessible room and not only did the bathroom not have grab bars near the toilet, I couldn't get into the bathroom with my walker. The bedding was of low quality -- mattress far too soft and sheets not soft at all. I will never stay here again. The parking fee is too expensive as well.

The view is beautiful but really cold and windy. The floors were numbered in a confusing manner so I got lost all the time. I thought it was over priced. I really loved the water dispenser by the lobby. The service was poor. No amenities for the visitors.

Location, location! Nice views of the ocean and SF from the hotel. Nice indoor pool but didn't get a chance to use it. A hotel restaurant and market on the premises. Free chocolate chip cookies upon check in. The so-so. The property needs some updates for sure. Rooms and property were a bit tired. Check in is extremely slow. I think the computers need updates. Expensive paid parking but you can park along the road off the property. Overall a good stay. The view and central location outweighed the bad.

The location is really the only reason to stay here I mean, absolutely everything is lacking. The hotel is old and in desperate need for an update. The rooms are similar to a motel, I was actually shocked by how little effort it seemed they put into the place. It's somewhere to sleep, at a nice marina. That's it.

I liked this hotel but there are definitely pros and cons. I'll start with the positives first : Location is right by the marina so you can walk along the path and it makes for a great morning or evening walk. Staff is very friendly. There's a restaurant onsite. Now for the negatives : the hotel is a bit worn down, older furniture, and several chips very outdated bathroom. The AC is a wall unit so it's very noisy. Also walls are very thin and you can hear the TV from the next room if they are adjoining rooms. Self parking is $40 valet is $42. Unfortunately no other stores or restaurants were walkable to the hotel.

We booked here by AirBnB. When we arrived, I checked in at the front desk. Our room was supposed to be a king bed. When I checked in the woman at the front, booked us a room with two twin beds! The thing that surprise me was, she never said anything about what beds would be in the room or any details. I thought that was strange. So we didn't realize until we got to the room that it was the incorrect room. Thankfully, after we talk to the front desk, they were able to get us " the last king room" as they said. We really enjoyed the room once we got moved to the right room. It had a nice spacious bathroom counter for doing make up. and it had great closet space. There was a closet in the bathroom and there was a closet also in the bedroom. There was a safe, an ironing board and an iron. We also were given a couch, seating area, and a refrigerator. The TV was nicely sized and offered Netflix and Amazon prime, which we really enjoyed. The best part about our trip was that our room had a patio that led out to a grassy walking area. This hotel is dog friendly and if you walk behind the hotel, there's a giant leash free dog park with a view of San Francisco and the Bay! That was really a pleasure to take a walk by. They also had a very cute garden area with seating and an indoor pool. I really felt like this hotel had a lot of accommodations for their guests and it was a great location to visit Berkeley. By staying here, you can have a quiet serene visit while also being only a 10 minute drive from a lot of activities and downtown.

Not too bad of a hotel, stayed here for a work trip. Nice views, location, and indoor pool. Any doubletree you go to will give you cookies if you ask. I'm used to getting just regular chocolate chip cookies, but these double tree cookies have nuts as well, I personally really enjoyed them! As guest, unfortunately you do have to pay for parking. The hotel is sectioned into multiple buildings. We stayed in the building right next to the checkin/events building. There is an indoor pool that also has a sauna, weights, and cardio room. We are right at the marina, the sunsets are beautiful. My room faced the parking lot/city which wasn't all that bad either. The rooms were like any other standard room. Nothing amazing and nothing horrible. The building is a bit outdated and not as modern, but it's livable for a few nights. I would stay here again.

My courtyard view
Christie T.

OK hotel in a nice location, right on the water and next to a beautiful park. The rooms are average, the "courtyard view" was facing a wall so not great. But the property is nicely landscaped so I imagine a real courtyard view would have been nice. The restaurant is very average and quite expensive and so is the little shop they have in the lobby. There is a place to refill water bottles with filtered water so that's good at least. I had no hot water to shower in my room and they did not seem to care when I told them at check out. I honestly probably won't be back since there are many options over here and the experience left me feeling pretty blah.

Eww what happened here?

Cool location, great view, rooms need a face lift. The furniture has icky stains on them. The hallway has seen better days.

We have stayed at this DoubleTree location a couple times - a few years ago with our kids and more recently just my husband and myself. We decided to stay here for a couple nights because it is not too far from the Berkeley Greek Theatre, where we had tickets to a concert, and because it was our 25th wedding anniversary!! We were coming from very hot Reno and it felt great to be in much cooler weather near the water. We paid for a marina view room, but after learning it was our anniversary we were upgraded to a 3rd floor (top level) room in the building next to the lobby. We had a great view from our balcony! Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. They also comped the parking fee, which had recently gone up in price. Very nice of them - we appreciate it! We had a nice relaxing dinner in their restaurant and spent time walking around the property. We especially enjoyed walking the adjacent Cesar Chavez Park with all the great ocean views-- you can't beat the location for this area! While the property seems a little dated, I actually liked the vibe there. With all the tropical plants, it "almost" feels like the old days of Hawaii. Again, we were coming from a desert so it felt lush by comparison. We are happy to have spent our 25th anniversary here!

The hotel is only about a 5-minute walk from the campus and very close to BART, with plenty of shops and great restaurants nearby. The room is very well organized, the bathroom is spotless, and the bed is perfectly comfortable--not too soft or too firm. Having a kitchen in the room is extremely convenient and makes our stay even better. I especially want to mention the front desk service--Georgina is amazing! She is extremely attentive, friendly, and always provides professional and thoughtful service. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant! Great location with clean, spacious rooms and the best front desk service. Highly recommend this place--we will definitely be back!

First and foremost be careful if you are going with the pictures on their website. The biggest issue with this hotel is either they are not paying any attention to the photos they are attaching to the room type or they are trying to bait people with the photos and hope that they are not bothered by what they are getting. I booked a 1 Bedroom Suite, 1 King, Sofa bed, City view. In the pictures it shows for that room it looks like its an open concept for the living area with a full size sofa and a separate bedroom. There appears to be a fairly large table with a little circle part of the table at the end for dining. Also the description implies that it sleeps 4 and there is a view of the city. What I actually was put in was a very small room where immediately upon entering there is tiny closed off kitchen with a little 3 foot table. On the other side of the kitchen wall there is a living room about the same size as the kitchen with a very small love seat sofa that converts into a twin bed. Also my windows looked out onto the roof of a museum and on the other side a dirt lot under construction. Honestly, I could care less about the view and I personally am not normally very picky on what type of room I get when traveling for business but in this case I have 4 people traveling in my party and my reservation reflected that so to be in such a different room than I selected was a tad concerning as it only sleeps 3 and there is not much space. Within the first few minutes of being here I called down and said "I don't mean to be a bother but I don't think I was given the room I booked". I meant it to. I really didn't want to be a bother. I expected it to be a quick oh ya, you are supposed to be in ______ and we will get that switched. Instead a rep named Chauncy (not sure if I spelled that right) told me I was in room type ___ (some 3 letter code I shouldn't be aware of) and that's the correct room. I explained the things I highlighted above and was put on hold so she could talk to the manager. After a few minutes she came back to me and said "since you are disappointed we are going to go ahead and upgrade you to a room on the 14th floor like she was doing me some sort of favor. Besides the fact that I have status with Marriott and upgrades are typically offered anyway if they are available I wasn't asking for a favor and I said I am not looking for an upgrade. All I want to do is get the room that I booked. She basically rephrased and said "Sir, since you are not satisfied we will go ahead and move you to the 14th floor so you can have a better view". I honestly felt like she wasn't listening to anything I said. Its like all she thought I cared about was the view. On principle as I wasn't looking for a handout, I said you know its fine we will keep the room and I will just post about it. She couldn't care less and gave me a canned response of ok let me know if you need anything else. I ended up having our 4th person stay on my sons couch at his appt. On a side note be prepared for a crazy parking rate if you are driving. Parking is tough up in this area but that's pretty normal. It also might have been a crazy weekend so checking in took a long time.

My friend wanted to stay here and while the price is high it's worth it to stay in a piece of history. The rooms are historical so don't expect anything too modern, the check in area and atrium behind it have some gorgeous architectural details and the sounds of running water. The parking lot next to the hotel costs 40 a night, if you don't mind walking you can park at a structure a couple blocks away for 20. Part of the hotel cost includes a free beer or wine at the Morgan bar on the second floor. The venue and logistics: It's an older building, so heat isn't always adjustable, but you can turn it to the lowest setting. Towels were soft, water was hot, and the honeymoon suite was quiet. There's always a coffee and tea bar near the lobby and fresh water with fruit in it. Pool sign-up is required. One person found it a bit cold, but others liked it.
